Tattoo You
Kotaku faithful T3CHTony loves all things Mario and doesn't care who knows it. Here's his recent tattoo that he received at Electric Tattoo in Pasadena, Maryland.
It's a relief to see that it's a cool tattoo. I like good tattoos and actually just got a new one in memory of my daughter two weeks ago but cringe whenever I see one that looks like it was drawn with an Etch a Sketch or whose subject matter may necessitate a lengthy explanation to the grandkids one day.
Very cool Tony - wear it with pride!

Wow, I hope that isn't real.
DJ Magneto
That's a badass Mario tattoo! Don't listen to the haters!
TyrannosaurusRox
Why are people so fucking stupid.
Oh.
The internets.
DankPanties
but what happens when mario is embroiled in a scandal? Who'll look foolish then??
GMC
clever what you can do with those lo-resolution tattoo needles ;)
kalkin
That tattoo makes me sad. Sad and depressed, really.
cheeses
why not just make some wall art of Mario.. or get a bumper sticker.. or.. shave mario into your dog's fur..
Fonzy
Nice tattoo. Somehow, though, I still can see it taking some explanation for the grandkids.
"Mario? Who the hell wants a tattoo of Mario?!"
"Use language like that and I'll tell your mother young man. And it just so happens that back in the day Mario was a happenin' guy."
Still though, if I hadn't already promised myself never to make any kind of permanent change to my person Mario would certainly be one of the images that I would like to have printed on my skin until death do I part...
rubiximus
That is a good gaming tatoo, maybe the best I've seen. I've always liked the triforce tat, but it's a bit too common; this one is more of an original way to get a classic icon. Good stuff.
PurpleMonkey
My Fiancee has 8 tattoos and I have none, so I'm feeling some light pressure to get at least one or two token ones. I'm still thinking about what though, I've always wanted a Marathon2 logo between the shoulder blades but I was thinking decent sized (over 1 inch diameter probably), so maybe for a first tattoo I'll go smaller.
Suggestions Welcomed ;)
DaiMacculate
Drew, you have some guns on ya there. The tattoo is a nice design and of course a lovely thought.
The unicorns and skateboard are hiiiiiiiideous. At least we get the lulz.
Tony, I hope you're not one of those really hairy guys; there's nothing worse than a tat covered by hair. Ewwww.
Evil Tortie's Mom
At the end of the day it's his choice. We as faceless strangers behind computer screens have no say.
It's pretty well drawn. I'm getting a modified heartless symbol in between my breasts.
TheDollHouse
@Capt. Struggle Bunny: AMEN Brother i know how that is.............fucking kids unless i get something beyond old school like a Atari 2600 tat but then again i don't think too many people would know about Yars' Revenge or Adventure. LOL
MURDERFACE
I was at Ozzfest this summer and I saw this chick with a tat of the Triforce it was so cool!
and slightly sexy at the same time...
_Ted_
He needs to keep his skin in optimal condition. I don't want to imagine a 70 year old saggy Mario because of its huge size.
Fyren
I am fairly "tatted" although not the typical profile...people are somewhat surprised when I show them ...it's a personal decision..and most important to the owner. If it makes sense to you, it's ok, but think it through... life changes, and as long as you can look back at it and have a good memory, or it means something, ok!
My back is covered with a "cheflife" tattoo.. about the restaurant trade..it means a lot to me, as that is the life I've led. Even when I get out, it shows a large part of my personal history.
cheftony99
Aww, I don't get my own article? :(

Gloibin
Nice tattoo, bro! That's an awesome 8-bit! Can't say very much about the unicorns, though...
NinjaBurg3r
@DesmondHume: And after your done laughing can we put our petty differences aside and talk about how awesome your Kotaku tag is? Desmond is pretty bad ass. As was last weeks episode.
@SanjiX - Has been on Kotaku for one year!: Yeah Pasadena is near Baltimore which is like an hour or two out from Hagerstown, so not terribly close, but yes, good to see Marylanders on the Kotaku.
@Capt. Struggle Bunny: I feel the same way. Most of the Hot Topic stuff drives me nuts. Seeing little kids running around with 1up shirts is just wrong.
T3CHTony
@T3CHTony: I think it's kick ass dude, I actually bought my friend SNES yesterday and he gave me super mario world with it....Awwww did that bring back memories.
Pieman2
First, Drew, my condolences as well.
To everyone saying its too big I wanted to get it smaller but to get it pixelated that was as small as they could make it. I could have made it smaller if I just wanted Mario, but Ive seen too many of those, tattoos where its Mario from how he looks on the front of the games or the cartoons, ect. I wanted Mario from how I remember playing it when I was younger.
To those saying its too noticeable or prominent, its on the back of my arm, easily covered up with any shirt with sleeves.
Not trying to defend myself, it was my decision and I'm "stuck" with it, as people keep telling me. Forever if I'm not mistaken. Just figured I would fill you guys in. Thanks for the kind words to everyone who liked it.
Now if I had only seen the idea with the Unicorns first...
T3CHTony
Even though I personally don't believe in getting tattoos, that looks like a cool tattoo.
KM91
It's funny because i've been talking with some people about me getting this same exact tattoo. Oh well I still think i'll get the Red Mushroom.
Pieman2
@ErskinPig: lol
"hey they look so god damn liek the same person, I would say to them ' You want ice cream cone?' both of them say yes. How in the hell? They are twins thats why." lol good ol mario twins
Kcet
Hope your maintain your weight and don't stretch the hell outta that mofo.
ratba
@Daft:
yup, the tattoo of mario is cool, but it's too big, maybe 2" is passable yet.
a tattoo of samus would be interesting. zero suit samus ;)
Gambare
Damn, he stole my idea;/
k!dman
I've thought of getting the vagrant story cross as a tattoo, mainly because it's got a neat meaning, is obscure, and looks cool even if your not a fan of the game.
mrantimatter
It is well drawn, but a little big for my tastes.
Gouki4u
It would be cool if were A LOT smaller, maybe an inch high.
Daft
Love the art itself... but that's extremely prominant being all up on his arm 'n all. Hmmm.
Allaby
I'm sorry, but if I saw that guy and his tattoo, I would laugh in his face.
DesmondHume
That's cool. But if you are going to have a video game tatto, you should shoose a motive that looks cool, no matter if you have played the game or not. A friend of mine has some symbol from WoW, some axes and shields or something. Looks cool to me, and I've not spent an hour with that game.
Personally, I'd go for a FoxHound logo tatto, from Metal Gear Solid. And if my grand kids ask what it is, I'll just tell them that I once was a special forces soldier.
Berd
In ten years that's going to look more like Wario. Ahh to be young.
Anthropomancer
I want that, but on my ass.
goombakiller
That's one giant mario tattoo... Spiffy, but not something I'd want stuck to me all the time.
Wolfers
@dionion: Are you kidding? Mario will outlive us all!
Lancehead
Drew, I like how you worked the female sign into the heart. My condolences as well.
dead_red_eyes
Electric Tattoo? like, this guy stuck his arm in a laser printer and it came out with a whacking great 8bit mario on it? i guess he's lucky someone wasn't printing their cv at the time.
comedy
I'm constantly amazed at the level of precision that tat artists have attained with modern equipment.
Drew, my condolences re; your daughter.
Cell9song
I wonder if thats near Hagerstown... thats where I live. Nice to see a fellow Marylander on Kotaku. =)
SanjiX - Has been on Kotaku for one year!
@CarbonatedWater: ...and that's how your parents were born!
Capt. Struggle Bunny
Hahaha!! The unicorn one is so lame.
CarbonatedWater
@dionion:
"Kids, its a character from a video game"
Is that an awkward explanation?
aden.exe
I can't justify getting someone else's intellectual property tattooed onto my body.
Roto13
Nope, sorry. Still not a good tattoo.
FightingChance
I usually hate tattoos, and the whole "old-school" gaming thing that's been taken over buy a bunch of hot topic kiddies that haven't even played Pac-Man can get lame, but I just can't hate on Mario.
Capt. Struggle Bunny
That's just stupid, I'd understand a small one, that's not too noticable, but this just screams idiot to me.
Maleficence
Hey, let's play shiggadyshiggady shway.
ErskinPig
Won't a Mario tattoo require a somewhat awkward explanation to the grandkids one day?
dionion
videogame tattoos... I don't know...
any tattoo in general is a bad idea in my opinion, but a gaming tattoo? still worse.
Waka in Japan
I think all 2/3 of the linked tattoos bite. But each to their own-at the end of the day so long as the person with the Tattoo is happy-isn't that all that matters?
Gentleben-Nintendo Club Star Whore
That is an awesome tat. I like how they made sure to show off his pixels.
Benjamin Linus
I like the unicorns.
PatMan33
thats pretty rad
