The Latest Day Note Of Tease

Re: Does Anyone Besides Mark Wilson Know Mark Wilson's Middle Name?
Apologies. I know I have a bad habit of teasing things in the Day Note. Readers hate it, but I love it! The only down side to being mysterious is when things don't come to fruition and you can't admit to what you were talking about. But I suppose that's better than announcing something super cool and then having it turn to dust. When you get into the regular habit of signing NDAs, it makes keeping a secret much, much easier.
Today was spent working on something pretty cool for Kotaku, a regular feature that we hope to implement soon and something that we've been slighted for in the past, despite those slams being based in ignorance. Exciting? Oh totally, but also a bit daunting when I'm the one proposing the new standard for it. People will either love it or hate it, but I'm formatting this new feature on how I'd want them to read.

@quen: Actually you are wrong. You can absolutely be slighted "for", or in other words, "because of" something. Though I'm not sure if Mr. McWhertor's right in his usage either, since to be slighted basically means to be ignored or not paid attention to. Who would ignore Kotaku?? Not me. Especially now that they're teasing us...

I think it's a special ten-part feature about English grammar.
:>
(On which note, I think McWhertor meant 'slated for' - you can be 'slighted', but you can't be 'slighted for'. Could be wrong, of course.)

@aelfin:
Yes, that's what I think too. More interested in the embargoed one though. Hands on time with MGS4? Or news about Team Ico's new project?
I think that's one of the main points why they aren't putting an "edit" feature in. Unless they can preserve the original post, then adding the edited one in. Might be too big of a hit to the servers though.

@excaliburps: from the read of it, the NDA stuff in the first para and the Kotaku stuff in the second para are unrelated items.
Please no edit button, I can just see people going back and "fixing" their posts after being called out on something completely inaccurate, then claiming they said nothing wrong.

@Michael McWhertor:
Wait, is this something to do with the site itself? Why the embargo then? Or you signed an NDA for something and there's also something big happening to the site?
My guess is there's going to be a rumor-mill of some sort. (Yes I remember the pointing fish).

Oh yeah, I promised I'd play it. Unfortunately, I hated the way it handled pictures so I got only this:

@Michael McWhertor: Heh, the first article could be about Okami...unfortunately the page views on the article would exceed total units of game sold on the wii...making the article so much more relevant.

Discussing games that didn't sell well but were actually quite good as a regular feature would be quite nice.But that's not it is it?

@skelator316, TheCleaningGuy, MurderSimulator: No edit button please. I love the mistakes people make. There is nothing better in all the mountains and all the seas and all the internets than poster's remorse. It makes me feel young again.

You know, we had an edit button for about 15 minutes or so. Did y'all miss that window of glory?
Sorry, but I don't know when we get an edit button and that's not what I'm talking about. They don't let me muck around with the back-end.

Gah! Why do you tease me so? I must know! The nectar of secrecy can't be THAT sweet, can it?
I haven't hated anything you guys have put out (except Birdo). If I don't care about the story I just don't read it. If you complain about something like that, you must tire really easily from scrolling down pages. If you really care, enjoy your banning.

@Copesetic: I did mean slighted, as in insulted. We've gotten some flack for not reviewing games, even though we get the occasional review copy.
