Yes, BioWare Says, Dragon Age Is Still Coming
Posted by Luke Plunkett at 6:00 AM on March 16, 2008
How long's it been since we first saw BioWare's PC RPG Dragon Age? Nearly four years? That's an awful long time. So long, in fact, it's led many people (including myself) to wonder whether the game's ever going to be released at all. Well, according to BioWare, it is coming out, and it'll be coming out soon. Well, soon relative to this game's development, anyways, with BioWare's Matt Atwood saying the title should be out before April 2009, and that when it does hit, we'll all be "extremely excited". Good to hear, though a release date or new info would be gooder to hear.

Ah yes, I was wondering the exsact same thing last month when I randomly picked up my copy of the Feb07 edition of EDGE. I took it to work and was flipping through the pages when I came across the artical on DA, I was like. "I remember this, that was a year ago? when the heck is it coming out."
So it's funny how things happen I guess. I looks like a wonderfull game. It'll sure give Fable 2 a run for it's money. Though, im sure F2 is coming out sometime this year.

I say take all the time you want. Baldur's Gate was/is incredible and I would happily wait as long as it takes to make a game worthy of being it's spiritual successor. It might even convince me to upgrade my PC to a game worthy state (although the suggestion of it not being exclusive might mean I don't have to).

'Spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate series' is enough to get me excited even if I have to wait several years

In some of the early interviews about the game, the BioWare folks said it would be much more adult in content than Baldur's Gate and that it was strongly influenced by George R. R. Martin...to which I can only say, bring it on!

Too bad it didn't come out this year. It would have been a hella year for PC RPGS with Witcher SE, a probable NWN2 expansion, Mass Effect, and this. Oh well, something to play next year instead.

Considering a lot of you are complaining about knowing nothing about this game yet, "before April 2009" is actually pretty soon - I'm "extremely excited" already! (although assuming it to be Baldur's Gate III is putting a lot of pressure on it). And you can be pretty sure that Bioware, and especially EA now, will not let this release with little to no fanfare.

Bioware: "Hey. Uhh .. yeah. We have this dragon thing on PC. Or something. I don't really know. OH BY THE WAY DID WE MENTION MASS EFFECT 2 COMING ON XBOX 360 OMG IT'S GOING TO BLOW YOUR BRAIN INTO PIECES."
Thanks for the vote of confidence. Please let Dragon Age dribble out into the marketplace with as little fanfare as possible and then blame poor sales on the death of PC gaming.

I'm really looking forward to this game. "Before April 2009", well...that's only 13 months I guess. I still play Baldur's Gate II the whole way through at least once a year, so the succussor to that (spiritual or otherwise) is eagerly anticipated.

Let them take all the time they need. Mass effect was great but deal feel rushed in some places, most likely the fact that it was being made for the 360.
Dragon age, as a PC RPG, I would expect it to be nice and polished. Don't disappoint us Biowre, I know you guys can make this 100X better then Baldur's Gate.

Great expectations are an understatement. Every seasoned PC gamer that played Baldurs, Torment and Fallout is waiting for this. Considering the comments how much time has been invested in the intricate storylines, plots, politics and character interactions I'm willing to bet it will even surpass Torment.
My personal hype meter says 12 on a scale of 10 :)

This should be the Spirtual Successor to Baldur's Gate II. I have great expectations for this game.

The title of the game 'dragon age' is really about what is says e.g. the age of dragons. IF you follow what the Biowarians developers say on the Bioware DA forums, it really is clear that DA will take place in what is to bew known as (or is known as) the Age of Dragons.
It is also clear that this age might just be starting and that the dragons in the DA game are nowhere near the dragons seen in say your typical D&D game. In fact, David Gaider, has said once or twice on the Bioware DA forums that the DA has spent several years of making up & establishing the lore & history in the
DA universe.
Bioware announced it in 2004 to make sure their PC fan had not been forgotten by Bioware. Normally, info on initial game development is released 18-24 months before the game is slated for release, not 4½-5½ years before.
Personally, I don't mind that DA probably will be ported the PS3 and the Xbox 360. I think it is a good thing that Bioware's games reach as many gamers as possible...

Seriously, for shame Bioware! The only way to justify that title is if we get to play as DRAGONS!

I see how franchises work now. No wonder they're so popular. Mention "Duke Nukem Forever" and everybody is like "Man, that's so ten years ago". Mention "Dragon Age" and everybody is like "What?".
I'm guessing they should just tack on the Dungeons and Dragons title if they want to attract any interest at all now.
