Just to clarify: in the Theater, you can switch to the point of view of anybody who played the game (including people on the other team). A saved replay doesn't save the video, it saves data so it can recreate what happened in the game. So you can pause a replay and move the camera wherever you want, as it just renders your view from the new camera position.

So in other words, this video would be possible for anyone in the game to make. No collaboration was needed.

The Theatre is a great feature of Halo 3. I wish more games would figure out how to do it, because i think we would see a lot more awesome/hilarious videos on youtube that way.

There was something about the complete crushing way the warthog fell on him that was just great.

This really makes me wish all games had a theater mode. I believe there was some discussion the other day about how halo's system was a rehash of other games, which just pissed me off more that it isn't a standard feature, and really the ease of use has to count for something.

This makes me feel like I should watch more of my own games to see if anything like this ever happens. I'm sure the rest of his team had no idea that even occurred.

This sort of shit happens quite often in Halo 3 and the greatest thing about it is that you can use the theater mode to watch everything that happened in the match from all players viewpoints or your own custom free fly one.

I wish CoD4 let me save the kill cams that people see when I shoot them. Cause man, I have kill people by randomly shooting through walls and I know that when they saw the cam they were cursing. On the flipside the same has happened to me.
I hope the next Gran Turismo has a better replay mode so that I can edit down clips and hell even import them into Eye Create would be sweet. Never happen but oh well.

That is amazing. Reminds me of a time where four guys jumped in a jeep in counterstrike, drove up a ramp, fell off the side and got crushed by the same jeep by accident. Naturally, the next half hour was spent trying to replicate this incident and they COULDN'T PULL IT OFF. These things happen once in a lifetime, and are pure gold when they do.

The save-a-film feature on Halo 3 is great, easily the best thing added in-game for a console FPS.

I have plenty of moments in COD4 that make me wish IW was on the same page as Bungie.

For example: I was playing with my roommate on Sandtrap (or whatever it's called), and a warthog comes barreling down at us, guns blazing. Without even communicating about it, though we were both being shot at by the same warthog, my roommate throws down a power drain, and I throw down a trip mine. The power drain stops the warthog. It slowly rolls down the sand dune it was on, right over my mine, and both of the inhabitants of that warthog go flying into the oblivion.

Just, a fantastically awesome, chaotic game.

I played through the entire campaign in co-op before I even looked at the theater mode. To my amazement, when I went to the option in the menu, the entire campaign had been saved, waiting for me to relive.

The theater in Halo 3 is hands down the best feature in that game.

CoD4 is a spawn-kill fest .. Halo 3 is a bit slow at times, but things like this make it quite fun. the various nade on nade interactions that can happen are insane.

as for the comment about "licensing the theater code", its not exactly a difficult to program thing..heck football games have had it for years.

The review system is more or less a byproduct of tight network code and logging of such into memory ( which i'm sure somewhere down the line has a performance benefit ), i'm not programmer but its basic stuff.
