On topic: I've never found any of the Blizzard April Fool's to be funny. Mostly because of how in-the-face they are. I really think they should opt for something more sublime next time.

I'm actually seriously disappointed that the bard is a joke. After being a huge nerd and loving my bard in D&D and generally just rocking people's minds, I would 100% reroll bard. It wouldn't even need the silly guitar hero stuff, but the class could fit in just the same.

I remember the first time I saw one of Blizzard's 4/1 jokes. It was back in the WoW beta which I was following but not participating in. They had an update for a new horde race, the two headed troll. At first I said "naw, that has to be a joke," but then they left the article up and had the troll icon in the race list for about two months after and I became convinced until they finally removed it.

I've always felt Blizzard should be the only site/company in the world to do april fools. Although this year Kotakus and Turbine(?) the LotrO developers were good.

Blizzard always make a great balance of it being just ridiculous enough to be an april fools but also sometimes to the point where you think it would be cool if they actually did it.

Other sites often fail horribly. Gamespot saying World of starcraft was coming out sticks in my mind. I mean that's not funny, many people actually want that and were seriously dissappointed. I remember one about sonic in smash bros melee. Again just sucked because it was simply dissappointing. Or they are so badly done it is far too obvious it's an april fools yet is trying so hard.

Blizzard has a great little 'easter egg' in the bard. They show the Bard's talent tree and in one of the bars, they name talents like "Shred" (which they icon wrong!) "Most Pit" and finally "Rock N' Roll Racing"

Blizzard usually does a great job on their April Fool's Day gags. Best one so far was the Pandaren (which became an actual unit in WCIII) and the new WoW class which was a two headed ogre where two separate players control the same body but different heads :p.

This actually makes me think, anyone play PuzzleQuest? That game was awesome putting together an RPG and Bejeweled. I think Blizzard should have Activision make a spinoff of this, basically Guitar Hero where you battle monsters and other players, and can pull off "sweet tricks" on the board, each battle getting harder but yet giving you more powerups. They can have some Dragonforce and Hammerfall, and throw in some L70ETC! With a few well known rock songs, of course.

Damn I am drooling just thinking of watching my BE pull off a sweet riff blowing up the mind of that ogre I was fighting as some virtual crowd of murlocs go wild!

I sort of have that kind of free time. I have a 9-5 job that strictly ends at 5 and is mon - fri and pays well. 4 weeks of vacation a year. No kids. So I could. But I have a GF so WOW is not on my plate any longer. I have to settle for warcraft 3 and lots of console games playtime. On the plus side GF is a casual gamer so a lot of our time together is spent playing games (pixel junk monsters, RE: umbrella chronicles, Mario Party).

Judging by the amount of effort it looks like they put into the tauren marine's model and animation, I think it will be in the release game. Probably as an extra unit in the editor. War3 had zerglings, hydralisks, marines, and orcish firebats, so it wouldn't be out of place.

Plus it wouldn't be the first time an "April fools" joke turned out to be real. people mentioned the cow level and pandarens already, but no one said anything about the goblin tinkerer. they announced a new hero and to "watch out for his sheep army" then a week later they announced "new hero: goblin tinkerer. watch out for his clockwork goblin army"
