Ever heard of the N64? System that spawned two of the greatest games ever? (i.e. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64) anyways, the Wii is better, just not a gigantic difference graphics-wise, but as for actual control, the Wii has far surpassed traditional controllers with the Wii remote, though it doesn't present a huge advantage for every game it is still an amazing pice of work.

The reason Mr. Miss-The-Point is the freaking games, and the next gen-console itself. If you haven't noticed, graphics are at a point when they aren't going to get much better with each generation, so if you are whining now that your main beef for buying the Wii is that "there is no difference" ,in graphics I assume, are you going to give up gaming completley when the PS4, Xbox 720 and Wii2 come out because there won't be any "difference"?

You missed the silver bullet by not mentioning Animal Crossing. ;) I spent months of my life on that game paying off that bastard Tom Nook. I would love to see it on the Wii, but I would also like to see something completley original as well, not just a Mini-Game compilation like Wii-Sports and Wii-Fit. It really surpises me to see so many people get so upset about someone asking for more from a company.

I guess it depends on wether you want too play "serious" or not. To me drifting actually feels better with the wheel as opposed to just tilting the controller.

You know, I'm a big fan of the "Justify Your ..." line of Kotaku original videos....

But I'm an even bigger fan of the old intro/jingle. That's what made it for me. Without the old piano jingle, "Justify Your ..." seems empty, without character, and... bland.

@Mr.SithNinja: Well, he's right that a sales number alone does not justify a game purchase.

But as for the new IP, I don't think its really necessary. One of the biggest strengths of the Wii is that it opens gaming up to a new community who are obviously not as familiar with them as we are. And don't forget about the kids who are experiencing home video games for the first time. None of these people care about the 3 previous Mario Karts. Its a successful formula that they will love.

Many people (obviously excluding many on here) that grew up playing Nintendo games have moved on to more expensive consoles and more mature games. Nintendo is not going to gain these people back with simply a new IP. Reusing a successful formula is the smartest move for them.

Just because you may not like these new IPs doesn't mean they aren't there. Oh, and those IP's all sold DAMN well also. Note that I said "may not like" - I don't claim to know your opinions.

All I'm saying is that Nintendo is certainly creating new IPs, just not the ones us "core" gamers may want.

Nintendo could put shit in a shoebox, slap Mario's grill on it with a clever title like " Mario's Sewage Adventure Playset" ( remember he IS a plumber ) and it would pre-sell 500K the first day announced.

You can't justify Mario Kart Wii, because technically other than shiny graphics and motorcyles, there's absolutely no reason to pick it up over the other games (which you could pick up now for probably half the price of Mario Kart Wii). There's absolutely no justification to this game.

I know he's in charge of PR, but number of units sold is not a metric for quality, ESPECIALLY for first day sales.

For example, Mario Strikers Charged has sold over a million copies, and it's not a very good game.
