Korn Debuts Haze the Song
Here it is, Korn's original song inspired by Ubisoft's upcoming shooter Haze. The song, which has the same name as the game, is available for purchase on online music sites or you can catch it on the enhanced CD version of the Korn untitled album which hit Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand on April 21.

@StolenName:
I dunno, I've kinda had enough of songs in video games always being about getting through fire and flames. :\ Hopefully Haze isn't that difficult.
man_in_gauze
KoRn is...how do you say...ah yes...not good.
agenttrav
Korn hasn't been good since SNES was still around.
Metropolis
As a die hard Korn fan I have to say I honestly thought this was...abominable.
TearsandScreams
I haven't heard them in a few years...
*sigh* no big problem with this, but they seem like The Pillows or Ayumi Hamasaki to me - good enough music, but album after album sounds about the same.
fuchikoma
@enigma89:
I was thinking the same thing.
crucifix99
You know, if anyone really suffers from Haze getting delayed, it's Korn. They were supposed to start getting royalty checks from this song as of how many months ago?
And this is important, folks, because, I mean... where else are their royalty checks going to come from?
But seriously. They've gotta be pretty tired of sitting on their song for so long.
BtownDesignGuy
@unmarkedone:
It's because they've shown next to ZERO gameplay footage...
Go on PSN (or Game Trailers) and you might be able to find a couple of clips including gameplay footage, but the vast majority of it is still the original, pre-rendered shit from when the game was announced (you see most of it in the Korn video as wel) or live action stuff...
Very very little is actually in-game, here's-what-you-can-expect stuff... for that matter, very little of it is even "in-engine" footage... instead opting for bad acting, live action crap.
Does not bode well.
Evil J
As a KoRn fan I must say this is definitely a step down for them. Either the game just isn't a very good inspiration, or they really didn't care what the song sounded like. It's just bad, and there's no way around it.
Lucidity
@Taramir: Maybe back in 1994 with their debut album, but not anymore.
I_Hate_This_Place
Does anybody remember when they did a song for spyhunter? (the 2001 remake)
fadecy
I used to like korn, but this song has no melody or riff that makes it, it's just mediocre.
valleyshrew
@hamandcheeseUK:
It's just Korn, actually.
jcsunshine
Korn was pretty great back in the day, but I wouldn't touch any of their newer stuff (say, past their Greatest Hits album). This song wasn't TERRIBLE, but nothing great, either.
If it pops up somewhere during the course of the game that would be cool, but otherwise, meh.
I do want to add that it is cool bands are making songs specifically for games now, though!
jiSh
How long until it appears on Live Marketplace as a Rock Band download? >:3
Ghede
@enigma89: Im with you man. KoRn is my favorite band of all time and the comments sadden me! Oh well, least we're not part of the "cool" crowd, cause apparantly that means hating on the best dam band ever!
Taramir
I hate this song.

neoraul20
hahahahahahaha. was that supposed to be a guitar solo????????
WrenixPhight
Korn rules, this song rules, I saw them for the 2nd time this year and they RULED! This song is the shit! :D
The game looks like fun too.
lucasreis
Korn is AWESOME! But then again, I will be 40 next month. What do I know?
robinandtami
Seriously FUCK UBISOFT. What are they doing to the industry. Hope no one is dumb enough to follow in their footsteps.
Wolf_Dog
I Have Dial up so i haven't seen the video yet or heard the song it's still buffering is it worth waiting for?
Barf#1
@Evil J: All the Haze video's have left me scratching my head and thinking why the hell did i waste my bandwidth on that shit. Oh Well I still have Hope for it. Hopefully Free Radical won't release it until they know it's ready. Which is what they know they shoud do.
Barf#1
Yeah, this ain't too good. Not atrocious, but not good imo.
Korn must have really needed the money.
artofwar420
The story is really all that can save Haze now. I like the concept but the gameplay hasn't caused much of a stir, and this song certainly isn't going to help any.
unmarkedone
I managed to catch Korn live in concert last week and I gotta say, it was a fucking excellent performace.
The Haze song is definitely typical Korn but damn, that just doesn't work. What's the chorus, "I wanna get through fire? I wanna get through flame?" Oh dear.
StolenName
loved the music itself but jons vocals are terrible on this song.
Detre
@Soralinkyuna:
You win, just for saying the exact opposite of everyone else.
man_in_gauze
It's a shame the nineties aren't around anymore.
Wait a minute...
*checks Korn's expiry date*
I hope none of you drank this!
pylon_trooper
I am a Korn fan, and all of your comments hurt me very, very deeply.
enigma89
meh... I love John's voice but the song is... well emh
That Girl Hates You
OK..I made it through 14 seconds of that travesty they consider a song. These dudes make Limp Bizkit look like Zeppelin.
tljent
I remember them having some hit back when I was in grade school, and it was real popular with the other kids. I never would have imagined that they'd still be around, though. But, if their writing songs about a Ubisoft game, I imagine that the years haven't been treating them well.
Bissrok
i used to love korn, but their 4th album was the end for me, mind you, i got into nu metal, rock and heavier metal when i was fifteen, i'm 22 now lol
Stueymon
@Fareo:
Hey dude, thanks for posting that. I'm gonna go add it to my favorites on youtube!!!! Speaking of youtube, check my profile for awesomeness.

"GAMING IS A RELIGION AND HAZE IS THE SH[SHORYUKEN]IT"
ZenGaijin
I enjoy KoRn quite a bit, but this song is pretty generic sounding.
(waits to get flamed for daring to like KoRn.)
ShaggE
Man, a ton of people hate Korn. Sure, they aren't as good as they used to be, but I can live with that. But maybe I'm one of those weird people who actually liked half of the songs on "Untitled". Poor choice of choosing to advertise the game/song, though.
Tomorrow is my day for new a single that I will actually buy. Ya, I like Weezer and Korn, two odd combinations. I'm gonna have a full plate tomorrow with some Pork and Beans with a side of Korn.
BrutalAssailant
This is awesome. Games are slowly taking over the world.
PaulHunter
I dunno. I have some mild respect for Korn since they essentially created a genre; too bad five hundred million other sound-alike bands then came along and made it absolutely horrid.
This song though...not so good.
KaneRobot
Uninspiring.
cyruspowers
Wow, now all they need to do is get some cover art by Todd McFarlane and bingo, they have a total piece of crap from the 90's.
daschupa
@Spoony Bard: The Problem is the Mötley Crüe song was actually quite fun, while this one... is not so much.
Kaemon
@HaydenTenno: The 90's will never be over.
While this obviously isn't there best work, it's not their worst. It's enjoyable, if one doesn't really have much in the way of expectations.
I think you'll find the taste of music differs to other extremes that of gaming. Especially when you can't get past the, "Hurr, they scream because they have no talent"s that don't bother listening to the music.
Then again, people listen to country. On purpose. That I'll never understand.
JKPierce
@stryker1800: Words of truth.
Pancho_Villasan
Wow, this just reminded me how bad music was in the late 90's; Nu Metal competing with boy bands.
Barbara
@shikaningen: There was no screaming in that song. Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling the song good (far from it in fact), but there was zero screaming there. If you're going to throw about juvenile insults and criticize something, at least make sure you've heard/experienced it first. Criticism should always be accurate, or else you come off looking like a fool (as that woman involved in the Mass Effect-Fox News debacle proved).
Of course, if that was your intention, you may have my sincere apologies.
Wenzel
The song would be good without the singing....
Kyle81
Just when I thought this game couldn't make any more mistakes...
Heartwork
I used to like Korn, and still don't mind their first 2 (kinda 3) cd's, but honestly, this is just horrid.
Darkest Daze
@Evil J: i do agree with that, they really aren't the same nowadays (i'm still on the fence about this song, mainly because it is a "forced" song to fit the game), but to dismiss all their hits in the past just seems a bit harsh
HawaiianActor
Come on, Free Radical. The 90's are over and so is KoRn's popularity. Lets see a little talent, k?
HaydenTenno
@HawaiianActor:
I don't "hate" Korn, but I agree with most of the posters that the "soul" of the band seems to be a bit gone since Head left.
Don't know why, but everything they do sounds pretty much the same since he left.
Evil J
@HawaiianActor: I know absolutely nothing about Korn outside of their album covers...and I worked at a record store for 4 years :)
Some things are worth careful preservation of ignorance, IMO.
DaiMacculate
@HawaiianActor: They were in an episode of South Park.
At least, that's why I'm vaguely aware of their existance.
Moonshadow101
@PapaBear434: Yeah my girl used to be a huge Korn fan..she made me turn this off halfway through in disgust.
Me, I never liked them :)
Definitely did nothing to sell me Haze, the opposite if anything.
DaiMacculate
@Erwin:
I've always thought his sculpture was weak, and making it in chrome... eh. This is a guy who's had prints of his painted work.
@Rebel Without Applause: @peAr_nectAr:
Glad I'm not the only one who was like "Wow, what an amazing adventure that was... wait, what the fuck is this shit!?!"
As for Arcade Mode... I gotta admit, I got disgusted with it after checking out the "Death From Above" level in it. I thought Death From Above was one of the more... disturbing parts of the game. Fun, yes, but it was the level of non-chalantness of raining down death and destruction, a kind of commentary on the detachment that you have to have as soldier in that position... then we add in shiny graphics and a combo meter.
Oh, and the Portal song? Never played Portal, downloaded "Still Alive" for Rock Band and love it. It's not what I'd listen to driving down the street, but the friggin' lyrics in context are hysterical.
Evil J
@HawaiianActor: Because we all had a lot of anger issues when we were thirteen?
Or am I just speaking for myself?
peAr_nectAr
@PapaBear434: I was in a ford tempo jamming to them during high school.
Are these guys even culturally relevant now?
/old at 28
FrigidAir44
man, lots of Korn Trashin goin on, i mean, if they are really that bad, how does EVERYONE here know their work? i admit that some of their newest stuff is not my all time fav, but they have alot of good songs
HawaiianActor
I was actually semi-interested in the game, but... Korn? Ugh.
@shikaningen:
It's not even the "oh they're just talentless screaming losers" thing, they're just... boring.
Defenestrated
That was pretty awful, even for Korn. And wtf is with Jon becoming such a tubby bastard? Maybe he should write a song about Wii Fit.
mphz
Korn... pshhh. People still listen to Korn?! REALLY???
Ali
I just wanted to say that "Haze" by Dishwalla, while not awesome isn't that bad. Quite enjoyable, even. Which is far more than I can say about this shit. On the other hand, I never liked anything by korn anyway, so it isn't exactly surprising. I guess if you like korn maybe you'd feel differently?
shimage
@Rebel Without Applause:
Yh portal song is clever dont get me wrong but its not musically enjoyable....
Communist_Gamer
@Evil J: Yeah, at least this is the band selling out, not the game selling out.
I mean, gunshots? For crying out loud, could they have possibly ruined the seriousness of the game any more?
peAr_nectAr
@Evil J: yeah, that rap song was horrible. I recall people saying it was good, just like the Portal song, lmao.
But hey, don't rip on the Arcade Mode! That was a great addition, only thing that could of been better was co-op.
Rebel Without Applause
... Korn is still around? I thought they OD'ed back in 2003. o_O
Dave Silva
@Sandbox_Emperor: *corporate
Sandbox_Emperor
Urgh horrendous stuff. IMHO that is. And basing it on Haze, gimme a marketing break please.
The power of the media.
Communist_Gamer
Man KoRn used to be so awesome.
oh well, I can always listen to the old stuff :D
Dauragon C. Mikado
@Evil J: Actually I am an H.R. Giger fan, but I always thought it looked like crap. Maybe the bad band juxtaposition?
Erwin
Raawr rawr rawr!
Now I feel torturing my soul with a steamroller made of anger!
will
I couldn't hear it over the suck. I might have even been decent, but the clamor of the circumstances that produced it drowned out the actual song.
Moonshadow101
meh. song 'inspired' by the game?, too corperate for me
Sandbox_Emperor
Oh, and it could have been worse... could have been that godawful outro rap song from Call of Duty 4... you know, the one that completely ruined the sense of emotional gravity that the rest of the game portrayed?
That and Arcade Mode really detracted from what I thought was a pretty conscious game.
Evil J
Man, that was awesome...
Soralinkyuna
Hmmm... I must be confused. I thought it was the case that you had to be a truly wretched churl, a guttersnipe, with no taste in music, and fewer braincells than a yokel teeth to enjoy music of this sort - you know, music that isn't music, nominal music that is in fact just screaming given the label of "music" with a discordant incoherent muffled din in the background that sounds like an angry cat wrapped in a heavy wet blanket.
Silly me.
/Oh, can these "musicians", these screaming, talentless, brainless, philistine losers die now? In a fire?
shikaningen
@PapaBear434:
Yes, sir...
People don't like "Lonely Soul" by the way? I guess I missed that. I liked it alright. I wouldn't group it with this, by any means.
Evil J
wow they could have done alot better then that, since head left korn has gone to the shit bag .. should have got cold to do it, they did a kick ass job on the "Psi-Ops" game song.
+ Watch video
Fareo
@PapaBear434:
There are a couple of tracks on Issues that I like better than their previous stuff. I couldn't name a song/album after Issues, though (well, twisted transistor just because the video was pretty funny with Lil Jon as Jon Davis).
Anyway, back to this...
I think that when you contribute a song to a soundtrack, it should be illegal to use the name of the project as the title of the song, or include the title of the project in the song at all. Doing so results in an accute case of what I call the "Rob Zombie Complex" (see: Daredevil as a good example of this).
Evil J
@hamandcheeseUK:
That's just how Korn has always been. They strove to make off-pitch sounds actually work.
@Cchrist:
That song ("Lonely Souls" by Unkle) wasn't created specifically for the game. It just happened to work.
PapaBear434
Man, that song really does suck
LittleBigPlaneteer
@Erwin:
That stand... is an eyesore, yes, valuable, even more so... It's one of two made by HR Giger before he destroyed the mold for it (some may say rightfully so if you're not a fan of Giger's work). One belongs to Davis, the other is in Giger's Art Museum. It's not one of a kind, no, but one of two (and only two) sculptures by a pretty famous artist.
It's worth a lot of something to someone out there, I'm sure.
Back on topic...
File this whole thing under "Wow, really?" cross-promotions. We can put this next to the Yaris Xbox 360 game.
I'm sure this video will be available on the PS store Thursday right along with all the other stupid Haze videos that show little-to-nothing about the game other than bad actors in live-action promos.
Evil J
@zoesch:
See, I still liked that stuff. I enjoyed it quite a bit, actually.
Hell, I even liked Issues, the album where most people say they sold out.
After that, they lost Head, and their music just kind of petered out.
PapaBear434
The vocals just seem totally off compared to the instruments.. dunno if it's just me
hamandcheeseUK
@StupidityTries:
Imagine if Luke got a hold of this one! :P
LittleBigPlaneteer
I've said this before and I'll say it again: hope haze turns out to be a good game and sells well...
jitty9
i mean at least Megadeth doesnt (well didnt, theyre okay now) suck [in regards to Gears of War]
pandafresh
I'm utterly amazed that Brian managed to post this without a snarky comment.
It almost reads like "news".
StupidityTries
And a follow up... This song is awful. Simply, completely awful.
Still, my daughter is watching an old Scooby Doo right now, so it's either washed up version of Korn via my headphones or Davey Jones "What My Baby Means to Me" while Shaggy and Scooby get chased by the Ghost of Hyde.
PapaBear434
God this is as bad as that Assassins Creed song. Please, devs, stop trying to promote your game with a special song. your game is useually better known than the band that does the song anyway.
Cchrist
@PapaBear434: And me thinking KoRn sold out the moment they decided MTV audience numbers were more important to them (Life Is Peachy and Follow The Leader)
zoesch
That' the laziest korn solo ever.
Fabrice
Wow. I can't wait to not buy this song.
TheSmiterer
@GUNDAM-RX-78-2:
Enhanced CDs have been around for over 10 years. You insert the disc into your computer and extra files pop up (like a music video or mp3).
Korn sucks.
mywhitenoise
He still has that stupid mic stand? At least it's not another shitty Pink Floyd or Radiohead cover.
@jaws3people0: Excellent zing!
@dead_red_eyes: But then there wouldn't be an annoying low rumbling throughout the entire song.
Erwin
@the-hypnotoad: If you read the comments here sometimes you might think the PR people do have their audience nailed down perfectly.
zoesch
Don't get me wrong, I loved Korn. I was in high school when they got big, and I still have nostalgic memories of me and my buddies driving up north for a canoing weekend while blasting "Adidas" and "Follow the Leader" out of the extremely cheap stereo system installed in my 1982 Buick LeSabre station wagon.
But seeing them debut songs for a video game? Just seems... Weird. Sold out, I guess.
Tis the death of my adolescence, I guess.
/old at 27 years...
PapaBear434
@CitizenInsane27: Well, I'm by no means an expert. I just listen to it for a bit and decide whether I like it or not :P
Candlejack
I could tell Brian fought hard to hold back the sarcastic quips. :-P
Jnas
what, no Guitar Hero/Rock Band download? Korn, you haven't even sold out correctly!
AgainstOne
eh, Breaking Benjamin for Halo 2 is where it's at.
Or "HEADSHOT!" by Mychildren, Mybride. No one will know this track tho.
Rebel Without Applause
@CitizenInsane27:
Off topic, I just wanted to say that your avatar is nothing short of awesome!!!
dead_red_eyes
I think this summarizes every stereotype about the average 'kewld3wd' gamer - spastic 14 year old listening to butt-rock and fetishizing their over-the-top weaponry and explosions. If only there was some type of 'fuel' that existed that they could market to people that played games. Some sort of 'gamefuel' if you will. Then they'd have everything.
And yeah, Korn hasn't been cool since what, 1998?
Pay attention folks - this is what the douchbags that work in PR think about the video game playing audience.
the-hypnotoad
@GUNDAM-RX-78-2: Using the word "enhanced" tries to encourage people from not just simply downloading the song for free. Or I guess the CD version has better EQ? Maybe there's an extra percussion piece like the cowbell.
RYAMATSU
UGH, that bass ALWAYS sounds like complete crap. If you're going to tune it down, at least raise the freaking bridge up a little.
dead_red_eyes
@GUNDAM-RX-78-2: i always thought emhanced CD's were those mixed data cd's
"insert the music cd to unlock special Haze narcotic ingame!"
黒天使
@Candlejack: Yeah, but that twittery bullshit noise that they attempt to call a solo, or even a bridge, fails the whole song and makes me wish they hadn't made it.
It's just sad really.
CitizenInsane27
@NeoNess:
That's what I was thinking.
@stryker1800:
Agreed.
dead_red_eyes
Eh, it's allright.
DigiMish
I normally don't listen to Korn, but this song kind of has an appeal - not the lyrics, but the music. I like the refrain as well.
Candlejack
"enhanced CD version"
What in the bloody hell is an "enhanced CD", damn need to pay more attention to music when did these "enhaced CD('s)" become availiable whats the difference between "enhanced" and non "enhanced" CD's?
GUNDAM-RX-78-2
@electroshockwave: Oh really, the song is named after the song whose name is the same name as the song :P
Funny, KoRn had one good record, 2 OK records and a bunch of shit afterwards... yet they still manage to get themselves noticed. This song is somewhat decent, but far from good.
zoesch
i'm a fan of Korn and I gotta say this song is not good at all. It's disappointing really.
Leaderz0rz
This song is pretty cool.
o.O
Shocky
Has Korn really been reduced to debuting songs in video games now? That makes them the next Motley Crue...
Spoony Bard
to bad the song sucks, as does the band.
stryker1800
They did no live up to their promise of really rocking it.
Zinc666
"The song, which has the same name as the song"
Really?
electroshockwave
ugh this really kills any bit of excitement i had left for this game
smuckersisgood
@jaws3people0: Nice one.
TOWER_JUNKIE
although to be fair I think Korn was still cool back when Haze was originally supposed to come out.
jaws3people0
KoRn is still around?
NeoNess
Wow, so it's true.
You know, gaming for me is like a religion, and Haze is the shit!!!
ca$h
