@lawblob: You have to preorder MSG4 then they will give you a dvd about the Metal Gear Saga. In the case is a piece of paper with a code on it. Follow the directions on the piece of paper and you can get your beta test.

HA! I tried to tip this 2 1/2 hours ago.

As long as you have a 12 digit beta key you are good to go. 9 digit keys DO NOT WORK!

Also there is a roughly 1 hr update after the program install. It gives you no other screens or anything else to play with offline. But you have it DL'd and updated and ready to go. Plus, this is a day early. And getting something before you're supposta is ALWAYS fun.

I don't know if anyone posted this, but I found this in the EULA for the Beta. I'm not sure what it means (and it could very well mean nothing). But the use of a "Point" system….hmmmm.

Chapter 3 Points

3.1 Payment through use of Points
(1) Certain Offered Services may require that the fee for the products and/or services be paid with points. In such case, the Registrant shall purchase the points designated by such Offered Services through use of the online payment, and shall use such points to the associated services.
(2) The Konami Group shall charge the number of points that are purchased by the Registrant pursuant to the preceding Paragraph separately for each KONAMI ID involved. Certain Offered Services may have restrictions on, among others, the number of points that can be purchased by the Registrant at one time, or the total number of points that can be held.
(3) The Konami Group shall not refund or convert into cash any point purchased by the Registrant for any reason, unless any gross negligence solely attributable to the Konami Group is found.

3.2 Rescission and Extinction of Points
(1) Unless otherwise provided, the points that are charged to the KONAMI ID and not used for one year after the date of the last use of such point by the Registrant shall become null and void after lapse of such one year period, provided, however, that, in case the Konami Group discontinues the Offered Services for any reason, the Konami Group does not warrant such effective term.
(2) In the event that the Registrant terminates the registration, or in the event that the registration is terminated due to reasons attributable to the Registrant, the points held by such Registrant shall be extinguished. In addition, such Registrant is not entitled to raise any claim against the Konami Group in conjunction with the fact that he/she lost the status of the Registrant.
(3) The Konami Group shall make no compensation, nor shall it be liable, for the points that are rescinded or extinguished.

They're just refering to any system the consoles are using... later after this, they do plan on making games for other systems, on all the consoles.

@idrisz: Yeah, I just figured this out too. I tried a few times from my US account, but had no luck. I had basically given up since everyone was saying the 9-digit codes weren't working. Then on a hunch, I opened up my Japanese account, input my code, and BAM! now I'm downloading the beta.

Again, 9-digit codes confirmed working!

If you have a legit beta key, it says download on 17th, play on 21st through May 5th on the paper in which the key is printed.

Mine was 9 digits long and I got it from the Saga DVD. It was saying it was incorrect until I tried it late last night and the photos are the results of what happened.

I was so excited for some stupid reason. That has since subsided and now I'm just waiting again. The 30minute update after already downloading 750megs wasn't exactly the most fun I've ever had.

Although this is really disappointing b/c I hadn't realized that there was different date for the beginning date for playing(4/21) and the beginning date for downloading(4/17). Hopefully they'll open the servers for play early as they did for downloading.

Well called my buddys at Gamestop and was told that the 9Digits code only would work on Apr 17 to start the download only. Ok well its f'ing Apr 17 and the code still does not work??? Wtf the only "real" reason I have a PS3 and its yet again to impress me. True this is a lot to do on Konamis part I understand but hmmm I dont seem to have to much problem with oh say when halo3 beta came out? Back to the Closet you BAD PS3!!!

Gamestop did say they would give me a new code tho if this one didnt work today so just waiting till the store opens up to pick it up. Sheesh I really do want to check this out I just have this weird feeling im going to be let down.....

If your having trouble downloading the patch, use the peer to peer transfer. That way if it messes up (witch it never did for me) You'll be able to restart the download with the percentage you got to. (BitTorrent Rocks!)

MGO comes packed with MGS4, so it's pretty much free. They might charge for downloadable content though
