Miyamoto Happy To Report Minimal Wii Fit "Incidents"
Posted by Mark Wilson at 2:40 AM on April 23, 2008
In a recent interview with MTV, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto was asked whether or not he'd been worried about the public falling from Balance Boards (leading to what would inevitably be more cracked televisions, this time ala head). And according to Miyamotos response, those Balance Boards are every bit as safe as we'd expect a 1/2-inch platform to be.
I am happy to say that with so many out there, we have had relatively few incidents.Relatively few incidents? That's just open ended enough to fill my head with hilarious Balance Board injuries for the remainder of the day. Cue the Yakety Sax.

Seriously, how effing retarded do you have to be to fall from that thing, and acually hurt yourself?

Well of course. Family gets home, plays with Wiifit for a couple days, then puts it in closet to never touch it again. Helps reduce injuries when no one touches the thing.

His statement sounded ominous to say the least... I bet there was a sinister giggle to be heard when he said this.

I'm sure a kinky couple will find some use for it other than games and cause their own "incidents".

Haha, for real. If you honestly thought about it, I couldn't see why it would be caught on tape accidentally. I can see DDR as potential hazard but over stretching could make you lose balance.

"Relatively few incidents" sounds a little like MSes "low failure rate".
I kid. Seriously, I cant wait for wiiinjuries to explode with videos and images.

I hope these accidents are the lol type and not serious ones. I mean its a freaking mat. The only accidents that may happen is because they are trying to play the game like balancing and ending up on their butt laughing while having fun

@Stratovarius: Never doubt the publics ability to lose motor control in front of a camera

I'm guessing there is that odd person who slips on the board and accidentally throws their Wiimote into the TV.

Hmmm, can't wait to see how many YouTube videos of people falling off their Wii Fit pop up after this is released in the US next month. I bet there will be at least one 'staged' vid within 24 hours....

What? It's a flat board. What the hell is wrong with people that they are having incidents with a flat board?

"Relatively few incidents" sounds too much like something you'd hear at the beginning of a zombie film.

You do have to wonder what KIND of accidents could even happen with that thing...I'm sure we'll see plenty, though.

As has been mentioned above, Wii Fit hasn't made it to the US yet, otherwise known as the land of both the "super size" and the litigious.

Either it's been tripped over, someone with sweaty feet slipped off, or there's been some sort of exercise incident. I can't wait for someone to not limber up, try to follow the instructions on the screen, and then cry on the floor from an ass cramp.

how is it possible to hurt yourself on a rubberized board, maybe if it was like the shiny plastic like the wii?
