Shepard Fairey Civ Rev Poster Is Pretty Great
Definitely one of the classier attempts at game PR we've seen. 2K have commissioned Shepard Fairey to come up with a series of promo posters for the upcoming Civilization Revolution. There's "more to come", with the first featuring none other than the little Corsican himself, shaking his finger during a pronounced bout of little-man syndrome. If wallpapers of former French dictators sounds right up your alley, click for a bigger version.

I don't think Shepard did this. Sure it's a bite on his style but the face and the hand illustration is not in his style.
As for COALHALO, you cannot compare sports and art. thanks for playing.
It could probably stand to have the game's name somewhere on there. Napoleon doesn't automatically = Civ. Nuclear warlord Ghandi maybe, but not Napolean.

lol that poster is a cheap ripoff of a photoshop tutorial to make a rock-band poster, so identical not even funny.

To look like those beer/drug college posters, that should read,
France!
Getting conquered since the 1st Century B.C.
I kid, I kid.
@chaman_shimano:
Dictator:
a person exercising absolute power, esp. a ruler who has absolute, unrestricted control in a government without hereditary succession.
Napolean crowned himself emperor after gaining power in a military coup. The word "dictator" has negative connotations, yes, but Napolean appointing himself emperor, had absolute, unyielding power while invading/attacking every major European power. I think that qualifies him as a dictator.

@coalhalo: Yeah, I never got the impression that Shep was clutching to his "indie street cred". It always seemed to me that world domination was his goal.
Funny about Napoleon... every time I play him in Civ4 I get tons of hate from the other CPU civs. No one really likes him it seems.
Saladin on the other hand is Mr. Popular

@luketheobscure: Thanks for that, I really liked both covers..

I was wondering how long it would take until someone slammed Fairey as a sellout, and it was only comment #8.
Attacking a commercial artist like Shep Fairey for "selling out" is akin to ridiculing Tiger Woods for his Nike contract.

For the interested, Fairey recently did covers for Animal Farm and 1984:

I like Shepard but I like Brute even more. (KMFDM art, etc.) I think Shepard has more pieces though. I have his collection somewhere. The guys a great success story.

Napoleon has a posse. Yes, I think that would be a safe assumption.

dang my brother is going to freak, he even has an Obey tat

Fun post-revolutionary fact: Little Napoleon might still be around.
cordsie
Napoleon did bad things, but you can't call him a dictator
chaman_shimano
@cordsie: He's just making sure Little Napoleon is still ok.
Spelunkarr
I still feel that console users are getting ripped off by not having all the features of Civ 4.

As if Shepard Fairey could lose anymore credibility. From his high perch of underground "andre the giant" badassness, i don't know if it was the "tagger" action figures at target or his swindle fashion magazine that make him now look like a total douche.

@cordsie: Dont think the depictions by accident

Small hands? Smell like cabbage?

Why is Charlie Sheen wearing those clothes?

Napoleon is famous for being depicted with his hand tucked in his coat over his stomach. In that rendition he looks like he's reaching for the old grapeshot cannon.

Very nice. I love the dark red beams, not to mention the light red beams in between the dark red beams. And the border, it's red too. Red is such a great colour... so deep, so passionate!

Well, you know what they say about the little guys...

Looks cool.
It reminds me of Russian propaganda artwork.
