Skate Coming To Wii And Nintendo DS?
Posted by Michael McWhertor at 10:20 AM on April 3, 2008
We may have a good idea what those Skate "extensions" are that EA Games president Frank Gibeau teased a couple months ago, as IGN reported earlier today that Skate It, a spin-off planned for the Nintendo DS and Wii, was in the works. Curiously, IGN has since pulled that report, hinting that either that information was wrong or not yet deemed fit to print by the powers that be.
Consider it rumour for now—whilst fantasizing about Wii Balance Board control!--and pretend to be surprised when EA and IGN work out their arrangement on the game's potential public reveal. In the meantime, we'll check with EA to see if there's more substance to this.

it wont work with one stick or a stylus. please! give us Skate 2 for ps360, and make the character customization a bit better, that was my only gripe! a more stable framerate would be killer too. but please! we dont need crappy ports.

if it was the 360 and the balance board maybe, but I don't have much faith in the wii(nintendo's of course, not mine) anymore. They can always start proving me wrong, but my Wii(again the Nintendo one has been really only in use when guests are over and even then we play rock band on 360 anyway.

yeah it won't work with just one analogue stick.
i could see it happening on the wii fit board though :-)

... Just maybe this'll be good?
@illmatic291: It'd need another analogue stick though, wouldn't it.

Just release a Top Skater port from Sega on the Wii. That game was the total shit and it would be great on a WiiBoard.

It's EA, why even bother considering it a rumour, you know they'll try porting it to every system them can.

With the balance board this could be good.
But shit can they please stop with these year-late-to-the-party wii ports already?! Come up with something new for fucks sake...

If it ever does come to the Wii, it's obviously going to look like crap.

Until a skateboarding game brings back Radical Rodney, I'm out.
The world needs more Dangerfield-themed characters.

I'm still waiting for a price drop on the 360 version. It's rare for an EA game to go this long without one.

I'd like to point out that the balance board idea would require much too activity for a game of any real depth. It would get really damn annoying after an hour of standing in one place bending your knees.

maybe they could make it work back words and us the pointer to tell where you go and the left stick to do the tricks.

I really doubt this will be a balance board title and to assume so would just be hoping for something that's too good to be true...

It would be great if the Wii version let you actually flip the remote around for which trick you wanted. Only thing is, that might get a little tricky with the wrist strap on, and a little too expensive with the wrist strap off.

This could come has an interesting game for the Wii since There's not many good games in sight for the months to come ... It would cool, if ... you know ... it wasn't a shitty port ... I don't want it to be exactly like the 360 version, just a good port !

I was about to say it's going to be amazingly bad, but then my mental eye panned to a scene of flikit controls executed via a touch-screen. I then came.

DS would be cool - graphics would make your eyes bleed, but with the d-pad for body, and the touchscreen for the board it could work - though it may make it way easier.
For the Wii... I don't know. I'd think it works perfectly but after trying Monkey Ball on the Wii I'm not so sure about sure hits anymore. I'd have to see it. It'd be awesome if they could do it with the balance board, but you just know people would be jumping on that thing.
I'd like to say it'd be cool on PSP, but no, this is genuinely a two stick game. I guess body on the face buttons and nub for board control would be ok. The other way around and it would be too much like Tony Hawk for me :p ("X and.... trianglesquarecircle!")
