I like a lot of the game/anime otaku culture, but that's what I think whenever I see these things. I can just see a nerd with a new girlfriend:

Really the craftsmanship is incredible in some of these things (Kotobukiya, Bome) but there is absolutely nowhere I would put one unless I was ready to turf it at a moment's notice (not for those prices!) or forgo human relations... ESPECIALLY with the booming scene of statues that are pretty much, well no, literally porn.

I bought myself a Mai Shiranui and it looks gorgeous. Though it cost a lot more than I would like to spend on things like this.

If I didn't spend so much of my money on videogames I'd probably buy more figures. But if I didn't play videogames I suppose I wouldn't be into things like this. Certainly wouldn't mind grabbing myself an Ibuki. Yowza!

Despite some of the less-respectable toys that come out of Japan, I have to say that, as a failed artist, I really love the craftsmanship that goes into these things. It's so many disciplines brought into one package. Design, sculpting, firing, painting. Very cool.

It's neat to know that sculptors can find work over there (not much here, and no, I was never an aspiring sculptor, but it IS fun), even if they have to make large-breasted statues.

Also, for those rolling their eyes, this is nothing. Check heiseidemocracy for some pics of the more wild stuff.

I really want that R. Mika one. I'm kind of a Rainbow Mika fanboy and I'm also a butt man. I've been a fan of her cheeks since Street Fighter Alpha 3 on Playstation. 55 dollars does not seem ridiculous to me at all.
