I think it's tougher to do a good jet game than you'd think. Namco and Project Aces pretty much have it honed to perfection (goofy story segments aside). There were a couple of jet sims/sim-lights for the PS2 and they all paled in comparison to AC4/5.

H.A.W.X. is the definition of lameness in terms of game's name. Either they did a focus test with some 14 years old kid suggested three names and this one sadly came out, or somebody from marketing in France think he knows what makes a good name but clearly doesn't.

IGN has scored some intel on Ubisoft's/Tom Clancy's T.A.X.I., a sort of taxi driving sim-light that will hit PC, 360 and PS3 this fall.
You get to be one of 4 characters (Rev Jim, Alex Reiger, Tony Banta and Latka Gravas). You can unlock the pit boss (Louis DePalma) and female driver, Elaine O' Connor, at higher levels.
The main gameplay is that you need to accomplish one of your characters dreams, all while avoiding the "pit boss" and getting fares (from creeps to wealthy rides). But watchout, traffic can snarl ya. (Maps include NYC, Detroit, Paris, London, Moscow and Dehli. DLC maps to come are Tokyo, Bejing, and Sydney).

Theres a scene on a Tom Clancy book, where a dude bombed a Vietnam city, just for the sake or it, in a unautorized fly. Mostly like this video, only cooler, much more cooler.
The guy, Tom, can writte interesting combat "scenes". But this translation to video is somewhat wrong. For some reason, the books feel "real", but this video feels like a "videogame".
The fun thing is... I suspect the game will have better visuals than this video :D

seriously, it's just the name. change it and everyone will take it more seriously. Hawx... Hawk.. bird, plane... we get it. Tom Clancy's Air Superiority or um Tom Clancy's Rolling Thunder would be better. Tom Clancy's X-wing vs Tie Fighter would be betterest.

But yea, I'm too mean. I love the old Janes flight sims/games. Ace Combat pretty much rules but their stories and dialogs are usually rubbish. A good modern flight sim/combat (doesnt have to be realistic) would be great. Think Crimson Skies (with the 4 player and what not) but Modernized and a bit realistic.

Tell you what, I like the premise. There aren't nearly enough games like this nowadays. The genre pretty much died. Ace Combat 6 I am still waiting for to play on my PS3. That's about it.

I also don't get what's wrong with the Tom Clancy games (I don't even want to look at the books or anything like that) - if you just enjoy them for what they are, without thinking much about the background, they are pretty awesome. They may only bring something new to the table every 3-4 years and the sequels only build upon that, but meh, they are all fun to me. GRAW2, Vegas2, you name it. Love(d) them.

It's like, as soon as franchises go from awesome to just fun or "ok" and they aren't groundbreaking anymore - or cater to the people that think of themselves as hardcore fans - they are being treated like shit these days, as if they were equally rehashed as FIFA and MADDEN.

Yes it is a rip off of Super Smash. But this one will have a ton of Hasbro characters. Including GI Joe, Thundercats, and M.A.S.K. among others. I think Silverhawks will also be there. Oh and He-man. 1st: Why does the plane have what looks like a reverse Blackhawk Emblem ([ourworlds.topcities.com]) It kind of resembles the one featured in Kingdom Come.
