The Video Game Music Jukebox
Posted by Owen Good at 6:00 AM on May 12, 2008
This site is full of win: Game Music Jukebox. You should really give this a look. More than 120 video game soundtracks. Double Dragon. Marathon. Mass Effect. Hitman: Blood Money. Lots of stuff from 8-bit synth to full symphony scores. And not just the title track, but the full score, broken out by tracks.
Maybe not everything, but definitely a lot and certainly something to tickle your nostalgia fancy. Looks like they update it, too, last one was April 29.
I'm listening to the Metroid Theme now, Brinstar to be exact. IMHO, best score for an 8-bit game ever. I want to make it into a ringtone, I just need to pick the right refrain.
Just saw this on Reddit so, the buffering might be a little slow on some of the larger tracks as people go to it.

Uhh, to be bluntly honest, I have a ton more video game music on my computer right now - almost every recent release I care about, around 90GB or so. Everything from Outrun to DMC4.

Its not working for me. Maybe a sudden Traffic jam... or over loaded servers or whatever happens with too many hits. lol

Excellent, it seems to have some of the newer stuff too which can be a little hard to get hold of.
I have to say [plopbox.net] is by far the most awesome site out there for nostalgic chip/mid/mod music from games, demos and intros. Everything is playable on the site so no need to install lots of programs, just click and let the tears of joy roll! :)
Just a couple of picks
[www.plopbox.net] <- Allister Brimble
[www.plopbox.net] <- 4-Mat
[www.plopbox.net] <- Uncle Tom
[www.plopbox.net] <- Rob Hubbard (Commando)
[www.plopbox.net] <- Reed (Intro nearly makes my brain explode)
Damn, looks like I know what I'm doing all day today!

@Yossarian:
Hehe, I guess so...
I'm a soundtrack freak, so I guess that explains it...
I hope you guys haven't forgotten Galbadia Hotel.

@InsolenceAndHeresy: I, um, think you're probably the exception. 90GB is at least twice my fairly extensive (or so I thought) music collection in its entirety.

On another note, does this site stream music or do you have to download it?

I am also having trouble with the site, but it's still a nice find Owen. Unfortunately, I have to agree with you on one point: Mega Man 2 is the best 8-bit soundtrack of all time.

Is there any site where I can listen to the soundtrack for the original Metal Gear Solid? I want to listen to the opening theme again... dunno how to describe it... its like an opera maybe? Whenever I hear it... I think of stonehenge, or the hills covered in mist...
Sorry to ramble, I'm weird. But I do like me some MGS music.

If they don't have the Ben Lewis remix of the Brinster theme, this site is crap.

@Zeouterlimits:
Google the hotel that I recommended in my post.

I agree with those mentioning the hotel. I care not for streaming, and I don't have the money to blow on CDs that I'll rip to a hard drive and never use again. <_<;

Just Googled Galbadia Hotel and it's flagged on Google as a site that may infect your system with malware. Anyone able to shed some light?
