Are We Going To Get An Uncharted Movie?
A "source" speaking with Joystiq seems to think so. According to this source - who is "close to the deal" - developers Naughty Dog have already agreed to option the rights to a movie based on their 2007 hit (and our 2007 NQGOTY), with Atlas Entertainment reported to be behind the project. Who are Atlas? They're a production company who helped put Twelve Monkeys and Three Kings together, so relax, will you?

All lies! Atlas = Fontaine, and no good can come from trusting him.
@Doshu:
I didn't mean to imply that I didn't like the game. Shoot, I loved the game. In fact, I've played through it several times both by myself and with a friend (switching off after dying). I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel, but probably wouldn't touch a movie based off of it with a ten foot pole. And that's if the movie somehow got good reviews (aka, it's not an Uwe Boll movie).
sariah
Samuel L Jackson for Nathan.
Maybe then I'll be interested. It's not like Uncharted has some kind of huge plot that can't fit into a movie. It's basically every movie cliche crammed together in video game form anywayz, I'm sure it'll be perfect for Hollywood.
YUYU
NNNNNNOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Just make another GAME. It will a million times better than a freaking movie.
Mr.SithNinja
great now i need to buy a ps3 and play the game so i can be disappointed/delighted with the way the movie turns out
SmokingCloud
Drake = Nathan Fillion
Sully = Bruce Campbell
sushimandan
I wish Uwe Boll could direct the movie /sarcasm
phalanges
The voice actor even sounded like Nathan Fillion.
Sollus
@Garo: They actually modeled Drake after Johnny Knoxville in concept art, though I agree that he ended up looking more like Fillion in the end.
Deviation59
@incredibilistic:
nolan...maybe...but please no McG!
and I totally agree with Nathan Fillion, hes perfect for this role. We actually need someone like Whedon scripting and maybe Peter Berg directing, cause he did such a fun job with "the rundown" a movie i totally did not expect to like.
asTer0id
I think it would be hard to mess this up if they made a movie out of this, Naughty Dog did such a good job with the script and stuff I think it could be really good.
Nathan Fillion as Drake, thats how it should be. Can't think of who would play Sully or Elena right now.
WolfGod
I hope they don't do this as a movie; I loved the game but the rule of thumb is, whenever you turn a game into a movie, it sucks.
Heyyou27
Nathan Fillion all the way, amazing actor and I always did picture him as Nathan while playing the game.
Mr Fortitude
Yes, it's called Indiana Jones.
KM91
If this movie is made, they would have to be insane to not cast Nathan Fillion as Drake. I agree with everyone else, when I played Uncharted, I always pictured Fillion, his looks and his personality are very similar to Mal on Firefly.
kadaj24
The game already was a movie, with all those great cut scenes :).
spyker3292
@dunetiger : the mekuri master: I'm sorry apparently you didn't see that Lucas and Spielberg plan on ruining that Franchise this summer.
I think they should have just done the Uncharted movie instead. It would have a better chance of resonating with a new younger audience. Hell, I'm almost 30 and I'd much rather see them do an Uncharted movie then drag Harrison Ford's old but out to do another Indiana Jones movie.
jp182
@Deviation59: True he would make a great Drake, Casey Affleck was amazing in the Jesse James movie. I always thought he was a great actor but his performance just blew me away.
At the very least it will be an enjoyable summer blockbuster.
el_rezzo
Twelve Monkeys and Three Kings? Great movies in my opinion. I'm not sure how they could make Uncharted in the same vein as these movies but if they keep the quality at the same level then it should be okay.
el_rezzo
What are you talking about? We already have 3 movies and very shortly 4. They are called Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Alex_Mexico
@Deviation59:
I keep hearing that from people..I guess I need to watch Firefly again.
enewtabie
I have a better question. Are we ever going to get a Mega Man, Metroid, Sonic, Zelda, Star Fox movie?
A_Knothole_Resident
@Rickster: hen people will say that it rips off national treasure
Nah, it couldn't be that bad no matter how much scope there is to totally f*** this up. And there's plenty of scope for that. Unfortunately, I think there's more scope for that than there is for it to be totally awesome.
@sariah: it's somewhat cliche, to be quite honest.
Yeah, it was pretty cliche. Thing is, the characters really made it a good game for me. The story was passable.
For all those citing Indy, you obviously haven't played the game. It simply doesn't "feel" like an Indy game (or an Indy story). It also doesn't feel anything like Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia or any other game. It has a unique feel all of its own.
Doshu
Critics would compare an Uncharted movie to Indiana Jones. Which would you think would fare better in the comparison? Indiana Jones is so iconic to the movie industry that an Uncharted movie would be seen as a lackluster knockoff.
Velops
thanks but no thanks... I'll take Uncharted 2 first....
neo177117
Why do we need an Uncharted movie? It's not going to be able to give us anything that the game couldn't.
GregoriusH
@Deviation59: Whoa, you're right.
SamCity
@Deviation59:
Did you notice that Drake was looking exactly like Fillion on one picture? Also I always think "Chloe Sevigny" when I see Elena.
Garo
Sounds super unnecessary to me. Uncharted is basically a movie already.
Bernard McGraw
I'm pretty sure that Bruce Willis would be perfect to play as Roman. Their looks are very similar.
xbandaidx
It would probably make for an interesting movie. It's my kind of thing anyway.
LittleBigPlaneteer
12 Monkeys was a fantastic movie, and 3 Kings wasn't bad either. It has some promise.
negativexer0
Im half and half, you see, Gaming, expecially with the release of GTAIV, is finally coming into its own as a great and unique way to tell a story, so why go back a step?
That said, Uncharted was the reason i bought my PS3, its a fantastic game and everyone should definatly spend a day or two on it.
ryivanV2
@ dunetiger : the mekuri master: You and me both, man.
holy_cow
Yeah, I can see it making a pretty good movie. I realize I'm probably in the minority, but I liked the cutscenes more than the gameplay. Trim down the fat and I can see a top-notch action movie.
That said, it's a video game movie, so it will be worse than cancer.
rannic
This movie would be so great...
Wowzers...
Me waits anxiously to hear if it does get adapted...
TheApprentice
I thought Indiana Jones IV was already announced
ajay42
@holy_cow:
Fillion's awesome. I have yet to see him in something I didn't like... then again, a lot of the things I like get cancelled.
dunetiger : the mekuri master
@Deviation59: That post was exactly what I wanted to write. Fully agree right there, Nathan Fillion is Drake. When I first heard him, that's who I thought he was, and throughout the game I pictured him as Nathan Fillion if a film was ever made.
kylo4
@holy_cow: True that. He's had just awful luck and definitely deserves some more chances.
Deviation59
It was alright for a game, but a movie? Naw...it's somewhat cliche, to be quite honest. Then again, it could be worse. They could be making another Street Fighter movie.
Oh, wait...
sariah
then people will say that it rips off national treasure
Rickster
@ Deviation59: Yeah, not bad. Nathan Fillion fits the whole wise-cracking persona of Nathan Drake. And I really liked Slither, come to think. Plus the guy needs work.
holy_cow
@thinred: It doesn't necessarily have to be crappy... the script has essentially been written already and it was quality the first time around. A decent director and a few decent actors could actually make a good movie out of Uncharted.
Deviation59
A crappy movie based on an outstanding game... Gee, I'm so excited
thinred
@interstate78: Potential? Then where is my "State of Emergency" movie :S
AntiZERØ
Nathan Fillion (Firefly) would make the perfect Nathan Drake. In fact, the first time I heard Drake speak, I thought it was Fillion.
As for Casey Affleck... well, Gone Baby Gone actually did a lot to change my mind on him, so I could live with that choice. Nathan Fillion would be better though.
Deviation59
I'm against this.
@ Welcome to Bonertown!:Good choice, I have to say.
holy_cow
I thought Uncharted was a movie? Why are they making a movie into a movie again? But with non-CG actors this time?
RTW
As soon as a game has some potential for it, it's gotta be made into a movie.
Damn you, Hollywood, damn you!
interstate78
I don't know... Uncharted did pretty well for itself, a movie wouldn't make the story any better.
Kenny
@Bonertown:
Not a bad choice considering how good of a job he did in "Gone Baby Gone".
Anyone that hasn't seen that movie should see it. It's Ben Affleck's first film and it's awesome.
I pick McG (Charlie's Angels) or Chris Nolan (Batman Begins) to direct with a script by David Hayter (voice of Snake and script writer of X-Men 1 & 2).
incredibilistic
I already got an Uncharted movie. It was called Uncharted and I saw it on the PS3.
Let's all go watch Indiana Jones instead.
dunetiger : the mekuri master
yea, its called Indiana Jones
TriFF51
I'm wet.
Kikouken
I nominate Casey Affleck as Nathan.
Welcome to Bonertown!
This could be good. Uncharted seemed like the game that would make a good movie.

When will people learn ...
