Capcom Up For More Hollywood Adaptations
Capcom is going Hollywood crazy! The Osaka-based publisher is casting a keen eye on the movie business, hoping to get more of its IPs into moving pictures. According to Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimoto:
We are in the process of working out contracts for several offers we received at the Cannes Film Festival last week and hope to make an announcement soon... If realised, the projects will have a big impact on the game and movie industries... We want to do with games what Marvel did with comics.
Best of luck with that!

@GhostWhoWalks: Funny, I always felt that the first X-Men and Spider-Man films were inferior to their respective sequels. I would want Capcom to aim higher and achieve that level rather than the first films.
Gospel X
I think the success of Iron Man was largely due to Marvel retaining creative control. Capcom, take control! Don't let other filmmakers change the story "so it makes sense" or "because I feel it should be done this way".

Just, please Capcom, PLEASE, if you decide to make live-action Megaman and Devil May Cry movies, please please please make them good. Like, X-Men 1, Spiderman 1, Iron Man kind of good. Pony up the effort for a quality adaptation and I'll gladly pony up the price of admission.
GhostWhoWalks
how about a movie based on Mega Man II

@Shad0X:
That's already a reality. The film is called Versus and was directed by Ryuhei Kitamura. He later went on to do "Godzilla: Final Wars" along with the cutscenes of "Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes" and "Devil May Cry 3".

uh, I wonder if that a good idea...DMC the movie! :|

I could see a really bad ass 3D Megaman X movie.
And whoever said Marvel Vs. Capcom teh movie (too lazy to look up): WIN.

@108: I'm torn on how to respond to this. On the one hand, I want to point out that they hired the Ocean Group, an established voice acting company, to provide the English voices for Mega Man Command Mission as well as Mega Man X8 - the results of which were wonderful. On the other hand, I want to convince more people that the acting in Mega Man X4 was so amazingly awful that you have to love it... Hmmm...
Gospel X
They should totally make a movie based on Dead Risi...
Oh, wait.
tk.
I want ROCKMAN/MEGAMAN the movie with Haley Joel Osmont.

Aren't videogames "moving pictures" anyway?
Antihippy
wow I wanna see the next marvel vs capcom flick... :P
Anywhos, I bid capcom the best and only hope there more picky and involved with any future films.
I'd love to see indie film directors/studios give it a try and give the that odd artistic twist that most do.

@Shiryu: erm... "Anyway, just keep game licenses AWAY from Uwe Bool, ok?"
My kingdom for an edit button...

"Lost Planet", the TV Show. Id watch it.

@108: for clarity's sake, I do realize this story is about Capcom making movies based on games.
I'm just saying that, if they want to be some world-class entertainment pusher, they should probably brush up the things that made them rich enough to spawn movies in the first place.
108
Hopefully they'll start hiring some actual professional actors to voice their games!
And have the translations of scripts for games in Major World-Class Franchises written by people whose resumes include something a little more interesting than "twelve years experience translating stereo instruction manuals".

Viewtiful Joe, as great as it is, would be criticized by all teens as being "gay."
DMC, I may like to see, but meh, I'd fear it'd get harmed in the transition similar to RE.
Phoenix Wright would be odd to turn into a movie, but I agree it'd probably be nice as a tv series.
Megaman I'm sure a lot of people would die or, and they'd probably make it all CG.
超外人
Devil May Cry would probably make a pretty good movie. There's not too many ways you can fuck up big swords, big guns and demons.

Just keep Paul W.S Anderson away from any future script or directing work. The first couple REs weren't too bad but the last one just killed the franchise. I'm glad there's a new CGI RE movie coming out that will hopefully make up for Extinction.

I'm also holding out for a genius Game ----> movie adaptation... the best I've seen so far is "Silent Hill" which kept the atmosphere for the first half of the movie, but was so... severely... lacking... Sort of like the new SH game!

@marmidukestank:

Hmmm.. AVP the game (CPS2 board) was better then both movies, so at least I think Capcom wont make halfarsed movie tie in.
Anyway, just keep game licenses from Uwe Bool, ok?
Shiryu
Uh-oh... Megaman movie?
Solidius
Devil May Cry 3 for the win!

@Dr.Chocobo:
Cheesy movies with no substance but great action?
One name...MICHAEL BAY. Then again he will probably hire the hunk of the month to star and Dante will only apear half way through the movie and have nothing to do with the plot.
hk458
Devil May Cry...DO IT!
Just get a director who is good at making cheesy lines and excellent action scenes and it'll be made of gold!

Imagine If Viewifull Joe Was Done By The Wachoski Brothers...That Wierd Speed Racer CG Thing Would Fit Here...
