Awesome TWEWY DS Was A Present From Nomura

So the other day when I was visiting Xseed, checking out Valhalla Knights 2 and Little King's Story, I espied this sweet The World Ends With You DS. My photo quality is poor, so the little caption beside it says "It's A Wonderful World".
Turns out that Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura gave the TWEWY DS as a gift to Xseed's company president, Jun Iwasaki, who was Square's CEO before he left to found Xseed. Nomura also gave Iwasaki one of those Crisis Core PSPs, but apparently, while Iwasaki decided to keep the TWEWY DS, he gave the PSP to one of his colleagues.
The DS is even more awesome-looking in person; it's gloss silver, and the logo is nice and shiny.

@Superstar90: That's certainly a valid opinion. I wasn't dismissing the game, merely asking instead of he'd really thought of all the other titles. I wasn't slagging him-- I really wanted to know if he meant it. That's all. Cheers!

That'd be pretty cool. I'd want a Crisis Core PSP more, though. I use mine more than the DS.

@cheesecake000: I wish I had ordered one back then. I didn't really know if the game was going to be good or not and didn't want to shell out for a DS if the game turned out to suck, even though the DS is pretty sweet. IIRC, they also had a little stuffed Mr. Mew as a preorder gift.

Damn, that's fantastic. TWEWY is an amazing game. Everyone needs to play it and get a dose of that style.

TWEWY is my favourite game of all time. I still play it every day, unlocking all the secret reports. By far one of the best games ever.
@wild homes has particularly attractive fries today: He said it was his best experience. I personally hate all FF, and DQ games. I despise turn-based combat. I have had more fun with TWEWY than any of the games you listed.

Beautiful! I'm looking forward to playing TWEWY in August, when I plan to take a little time off work, visit my family, dip into the Mediterranean and get reacquainted with my DS through TWEWY and FF Tactics A2.
Anyone have Iwasaki's contact information? Oh, just to drop him a line in case he decides to get rid of that DS (not to break into his office and steal it, of course).

@fuchikoma: I'm just waiting for Square to remake Bushido Blade. Not the second one, because that wasn't as good. But the first one, with some endurance mode? That was hot.

@PATSCRU: Really? I'd agree it might be the best RPG on the DS, but on ANY console? You're ignoring a LOT of excellent stuff-- Chrono Trigger, Panzer Dragoon Saga, the early Final Fantasy titles, the Dragon Quest series, Star Ocean, Mother, Secret of Mana, Phantasy II, III, and IV-- you'd put The World Ends With You above all of those?
And I don't really get the whole limited edition portable thing. I can't imagine just wanting it to keep as a collectible-- I've got a bunch of old consoles, but I play them all periodically-- and I can't imagine wanting a limited edition one to actually play with, because it's so nice-looking. So I wouldn't use it, but I wouldn't want to keep it unless I was using it... weird.

Cool stuff. The design doesn't really wow me, but I'm in love with the game, and the last time Square impressed me with a game before this was when they published all those action games in the 90s.
Now they have TWEWY and... published Space Invaders Extreme? Awesome.

Wow, considering TWEWY is one of the best games on the system it's an added bonus. I've been playing in spouts at work during the slow sessions. Just got to the final week with Beat (I like using him) and I'm still up on this game.
Shit it's one of the best games this gen in my opinion.

man i would be happy with either that or the FF7 psp.
i wouldn't say he's a re-gifter so much as he's sharing with wealth which is pretty awesome in my book.

+1 for TWEWY...The best rpg experience i've had on the ds or any other console. Well done squeenix, imagine what you could do if you replaced every Final Fantasy spinoff/cash-in with a game as original as this.

I've had my eye on that DS for some time now - a few people are selling it on eBay for $300. I desperately want it. TWEWY is an amazing DS game and I would coo over a silver SE DS. Can't justify the cost though, but I came close and I think about it hard enough, I could probably find a reason - even though my gold Zelda SE DS is just fine.

BB was made by Light Weight who makes... just about absolutely nothing at all, so I wouldn't hold my breath. I have zero clue how a game with so many fans can seemingly have no imitators though!

A very nice DS...awesome game too. Currently have just a plain silver one
On a side note, I did buy one of the silver Final Fantasy PSPs... Muchos like...

Oh, do want. Want perhaps more than the green DS, although not as much as the Monster Hunter or Star Ocean PSPs.
Special edition handhelds that aren't so blatantly promoting their game always get me.

That is soo awsome! I would definitly buy one. It would be hard to choose over this ds or the Crisis Core PSP. Crisis Core still holds a special place in my heart. *cries* By far the best in the compilation.

This post is a perfect opportunity to me to participate in the rampant gush-fest. I LOVE The World Ends With You. I could play it forever. Brilliant, love the characters, the gameplay mechanic is awesome, and holy crap even after you "finish" the game there's a BAZILLION things to do. Friggin' sweet.

GRRR, why doesn't US get any cool exclusive DS designs or colors!? This looks awesome and I'd totally buy the DS Lite for that. I still need to know if Nintendo will be releasing another model of the DS. Come on E3, get here quicker!
