Agetec's Women's Volleyball Championship Sadly Extreme In Its Tastefulness

Not since the announcement of Yuke's Double D Dodgeball have we been so disappointed to see a developer take the high road in a sports video game. Agetec's upcoming Women's Volleyball Championship is regrettably classy, a harsh reminder that it may be a long time before we see another tasteless bikini-riddled volleyball title that can compete with Team Ninja's DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball in terms of trash.
The respectable PlayStation 2 sim ships to North America in August. We seriously doubt the addition of vulgar camera angles or beachwear will be added by then. An unfortunately tame press release is after the gallery.

I've been around volleyball all my life. My mom was on a national championship team in the 70s. My three older sisters played (the eldest was a ripped muscle away from the 1996 Olympics). My girlfriend played volleyball. Point is, I've been around a lot of volleyball and volleyball players. And I can tell you, this game looks not only lamentably tame compare to DOA, it looks lamentably tame compared to real life!

Oh man, I forgot about Beach Spikers. Found it for $20 one day at Gamestop, said to myself "I haven't played a volleyball game in awhile" (and I didn't have a PS2 or Xbox so DOA volleyball was out of the question). Was better than I expected. I actually played it for a few weeks before moving on to something else.

It's unfortunate this won't be coming out for next-generation consoles, as I have had my PS2 in the closet for quite some time now. Forgive me if I'm incorrect, but there hasn't been a North American released indoor volleyball game since the days of the Super Nintendo with the likes of Hyper V-Ball and such.
Here's hoping it's good. While the DOA Xtreme games were solid outings in terms of visuals, the play mechanics were pretty weak. Beach Spikers was solid, but lacked polish.. So here's hoping this turns out better than it's predecessors.

I don't know about that. Outlaw Volleyball was pretty bad too.

Proof that Yuke's can fuck up just about anything... First, they fucked up the WWE games that AKI was doing so great with... Now they've fucked up a sexy sport that involves lycra AND jubblies... I mean... Double D? How can you miss that opportuntitty?

I don't mind tastefullness, but why do the graphics have to be so awful? Can't we have realistically rendered, tastefully-clad volleyball players, instead of squashed-looking 2D sprites.

I guess the main problem with the game that I have... is that it doesn't LOOK very fun. It doesn't LOOK good in any sense of the term. Is game volleyball really that lame, succeeding only when tits are the primary sales point? I love playing volleyball in real life, but this just looks terrible (and that goes for all volleyball games I've seen so far)...

I would play this. No joke. I'm actually not a fan of the exploitative garbage-- porn is so prevalent. Why do I need more breast physics in my sports games? If anything, I'm hoping these guys put some fucking hidden Star Wars characters in this game.
I'm still holding out for Jean-Luc Picard and Worf to be hidden characters in Madden 09. Weird crossovers are this year's bloom lighting.

So true. I play volleyball, and there's all sorts of ass hanging out on the court. That and half the girls stuck their chests out to show that they were "better" than the other team.
Because whoever has the biggest boobs and the best butt determines which team wins a volleyball game, always.

Sega's Beach Spikers for Gamecube remains the best volleyball game there ever was imo.
It was classy yet sexy.
DOA was porn in comparison.

Well, you might flame me for that, but i'm eagerly waiting for this because of the volleyball game in itself. I hope it's better than the italian game that came out a couple of years ago on the pc. That was terrible, and this one looks very similar. The best volleyball game ever has to be Winning Spike in the arcades.
