Guitar Hero World Tour's New Guitar Control Revealed, Priced
Also in the batch of leaks going up on NeoGAF and elsewhere: Guitar Hero World Tour (aka GH IV) will feature new controls on the guitar neck, plus a raft of A-list artists including, curiously, the Doors.
"New touch-sensitive guitar Neck Slide opens up the entire guitar neck for unbound solos - shred how you want", says the leaked docs. Word up to this point had promised an upgraded guitar but no details.
The game will also roll out with drums with cymbals, and a mike, which we knew. The drums are wireless and will have quiet pads.
At this rate, GH and Rock Band enthusiasts will have a garage full of obsolete instruments, and this kit is likely to set you back $AU 191.56. But that money also buys you tracks from Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Korn, System of a Down, Ozzy Osbourne, Interpol, Muse "and dozens more".
The Doors -- let's keep an eye on that one. Drummer John Densmore is notorious for refusing to licence Doors tracks, memorably turning down $AU 15.96 million from Cadillac and criticising other band members' matrialism. The band's unanimous consent is required for any licensing deal, and Densmore has been the only holdout, with one exception: he did agree to allow "Riders on the Storm" to be used in a Pirelli advertisement in the UK only, but later said he'd heard Jim Morrison's voice and sent his portion of the take to charity. If Guitar Hero has truly landed the Doors, it's a big change to how that band has carried on, post-Morrison.

Hey, old rock musicians need money to eat, too! Or buy heroin. Whichever.

wow these are the artist ive been waiting to play. muse korn system the doors man dam guitar hero everything was going good for rb till this now i think im jumping ships goodbye rb ole chap.
phoneykiller
A bit off topic, but does anyone remember that stupid as hell "Riders on the Storm" remix that was on Need For Speed Underground 2 with Snoop Dogg?
Fuck, EA has really got to choose better songs for their games.

@canceric09:
Are you completely oblivious to the fact that not everyone wants to pay $180 again for virtually the same set of fake instruments? Or that not everyone has room in their house or apartment for all this shit? Every game now is getting its own peripheral. Do I blame the companies for trying to make a quick buck at the expense of us gamers? YES! It's opportunism at its worse. There is no reason why the instruments shouldn't be cross-compatible with the exception of greed ($180 for approximately $10 in plastic and wires). Seems to me GH would make more money if people who already owned Rock Band were able to buy their $60 game and use their RB equipment as opposed to not buying the game at all.
Strangelove
@dslsd64: exactly, Wii gamers will be all over Guitar Hero IV. Harmonix screwed us (Wii owners) over by gimping a game almost beyond recognition, and will not get my monies.
my spoon is too big
I'm actually looking forward to this. *flame shield-activate!*
I only have a Wii anyways, and Rock Band is so gimped there it's not even funny. DLC disks $20? Fuck that, I don't buy DLC. Besides, it has a bunch of good bands, like The Eagles, Van Halen, and now The Doors(!).
dslsd64
i could be wrong, but isnt EA just as bad as Activision? Didnt they, like, buy exclusive rights to make NFL games? Hmm. I thought GH 3 was pretty decent and i own RB as well. Not exactly sure why people hate GH so much.
fauxbravo
@TRT-X: True. I just think that going off Red Octane / Activision's / Neversoft's (too many companies!) past peripheral history, there's probably not much to worry about on that front - especially given that we've seen them using the GH3 guitars with WT in that video.
freakout
TOOL has 3 tracks on GT4/WT...
I hope something can be done about cross-play between this and RB owners.
dudeman5000
My friend wants it only because he doesn't like that rock band uses rectangle shapes to hit, and that he's able to beat all the songs on rock band without 10 hours of practice.
Talleh
I don't care if this costs twice the ridiculousness that is Rock Band when it hits the shores of England, I'm buying it. It has the Doors for Christ's sake! I'd pay my soul.
Rombo
If priced correctly this will do well in Europe. RB has not made much of an impact - peaking at 6 in the British sales chart and being in the top 10 for only 2 weeks.
nevelator
The Guitars should be compatible. The neck only seems to be used for solos, which you can do with buttons anyway, it's just to make it feel like your freestyling more.
Harmonix did put a poor effort on the Wii version so, since I don't have Rock Band, I'm getting this.
freetyme
Harmonix already lost my money when they shafted the Wii version so hard. Activision, if memory serves me right, has already said that the Wii version will have full online capabilities. There's not even a question for me about which game I'm getting.
This is twice now that Activision has gone out of its way to make online work on Wii, which is something that Harmonix decided wasn't worth their time and money. I know some of you say Activision is out to screw us, but to me it's the other way around.
Saxboy
All it takes is one of my favorite bands to be involved and my money is good as theirs. If At The Drive In is involved, they have my $200 dollars. Easy. But none of the bands listed above would get my money. I've been way more satisfied with RockBand then any of the GH titles though, World Tour is their chance to redeem themselves. They have failed bigtime on the DLC side of things.
SoamX
What's wrong with Guitar Hero sticking with guitars only? I for one could care less about the ability to sing and play drums. I don't long for some other fake instrument to play when I fire up GUITAR Hero.
Christ, I must be the only gamer that doesn't give a crap about Rock Band.
BigWyrm
Im so happy I never bought Rockband :D
Project Thanatos
I own Rock Band but not Guitar Hero. If Rock Band 2 doesn't work with my previously owned peripherals, I will not buy it. Mostly just because for the extra money I would spend on Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero IV, I could buy a real drum set.
I doubt Rock Band 2's drum set would differ enough to render the old one obsolete. EA would lose all their business back to Activision. . .
Nintendotis
@strobefx Shame it's likely to be another product-placement filled mediocrefest.
You mean like how Guitar Hero III completely wasn't?
Yeah, I agree.
Poochy
@freakout: "Each new iteration of the game since the first (except 80's and Aerosmith) has brought new controllers. GH2 had the Red SG and the X-Plorer, GH3 brought in wireless, GH4 will be drums and new neck buttons."
Up until GHWT they haven't actually tied a new feature to the new controllers. If this "touch neck" thing is tied to the core of the gameplay, then you're cutting out a feature if you don't purchase the new guitar.
GHII were the SAME guitar controllers, simply repainted and rebundled with GHII instead of GHI. The idea there was people who wanted GHII would buy that bundle NEW and then add GHI if they so chose, while those who already ahd the GHI bundle would simply buy the GHII disc.
GHIII introduced the wireless guitar, but there too you had the option to buy just the disc and use your old GH controllers from whatever system you had.
TRT-X
So wait...the wireless GHIII controllers that are lining store shelves everywhere are going to be rendered useless by GHWT?
Can we get some confirmation on this fact before I gather the masses and torch Activision and Red Octane?
TRT-X
More Muse can only mean good things
FlashIV
The new guitar sounds kinda stupid. So it will exactly like playing air-guitar now or what?
4Degrees
Those are some really good bands. Activision might also be doing a pay for only in our game type of thing which explains why some of those bands aren't in Rock Band yet (SoaD, more Muse, etc). Anyway, since the old guitar is compatible and the mic SHOULD be compatible, I might just buy the disc and the drums can go to hell.
Samos42
so i bought GH3, and it was good, then i bought GH2 and it was NOT good
it was terrible, so something came to me, GH2 ressembles Rock Band (Harmonix) but GH3 has the Neversoft touch, and thats a heavy one, cause GH3 its the shissniz, i really tried to like Rock Band, but its to gay for me, you know, i dont know what it is, but its not my cup of te, so with everything in mind, GH4 has a pretty good chance of kicking ass, i mean, when the strongest point of Rock Band is that you already have it, i mean, come on, people have both a PS3 AND a 360, so why cant the have Rock Band and GH4, its not like this things cost a billilion poonanies, well those are my 2 cents on this, later.
Genok
Wow to the people who think GH3 is overcharted.... You're all a bunch of morons. There are just a couple songs overcharted and then there are some that are charted slightly differently than you'd expect but they are not "overcharted". Other than that everything is pretty good. Also, for those that don't remember, some very good players from scorehero got to help test GH3 before it came out and thought it's charting was fine. Actually, there was a nice topic discussing how the game wasn't overcharted much.... [www.scorehero.com]
Sighs, people who complain about overcharting in these games to me are like people who pick up a real guitar then quit after a week because it's "too hard".
Rock band on the other hand seemed far too easy and boring to me when I played it so I'm sticking with the GH series.
Ghar
people are right... gamers are bitchy bunch. complaining because of too much good stuff?? seriously people, cant you just accept that there are 2 great games and that each is trying to improve over the other? its the reason we get innovation in games... get over your pick one game only mentality and just accept that both games are for slightly(ever so slightly) different audiences. CHRIST.
canceric09
System of a Down? Wicked.
I just hope they price it right in europe, If they do it right here then they can really mess up EA.
I mean charging double for the same product just because its in a different place is stupid. Slightly more maybe but double is unacceptable.
flukielukie
SUDDEN INSIGHT/REALISATION OF THE OBVIOUS:
The neck on the GH3 guitars was detachable. This rumour is talking about new controls on the neck only. Presumably that means we'll be able to just purchase a new guitar neck rather than a whole new guitar. Right?
freakout
Oh, and I am also sold because of six little words...
System of a Down FUCKING RULES!!!!
Psychotic173
Here is how I see it...
I >>LOVE<< the whole music rhythm game scene... i own Guitar Hero 2, would have had Rock the 80's if it was on 360, Guitar Hero 3(about 12 paid for DLC tracks), and Rock Band(*braces for incoming criticisms* 70, yes, 70 DLC songs on Rock Band) and I have to say that I can understand people being upset about paying for more peripherals and how much room they take up... they really dont take up that much... I have a small box that I fit 3 fake guitars into (X-Plorer, Les Paul, and Fender) and including the height of the necks that takes up at most 3 square feet... now when I place this box underneath my drum set from Rock Band and overlap those 3 square feet with the 6 square feet of the drum set... I get about 7 square feet of room...
The GH:WT set will also be collapsible if I have read correctly and there is room in my magic lamp... er... guitar box for a fourth guitar...
My entire point being is that... besides having too much shit already, I have room for more pointless shit...
People are standing on anthills and pretending they are mountains, shouting, "Mi fayk rawkingz beets urz!"
Wake up you gibbering idiots, you cannot ride a high horse if you already have an fake plastic instrument in your home.
Psychotic173
I really hope it's not "Purple Haze" from Jimi. I would love if they put in maybe, "Machine Gun" or "Night Bird Flying" or- well, there's actually just too many I could list off, but please, not Purple Haze.
kingdong6
Cannot wait for this.
Muisee
@phor11: You prefer playing notes that don't exist in an actual song than singing?
Fireblast
HAH! I suspected as much. So now I know I'm not buying a second GH guitar and waiting for GHWT instead.
solar_tf
@CHU BOI: Why would you need to transfer your DLC? It's not like you'll be throwing away your old game discs. You can still play the songs.
Dalren
Always loved music games... but I´m really getting tired of Guitar Hero. I wish this franchise would die after the third game and give room to something different. I don´t know...
My favorite music game is still Parappa the Rapper, anyway...
lucasreis
No one ever wants to sing...
And when someone IS singing, chances are the others playing and the spectators don't want to hear it.
The Mic is the SINGLE reason why I prefer GH3 over RB for ps3 and 360.
(if we're talking Wii version, then GH3 wins out hands down for having online multiplayer and coming out MUCH sooner)
I am just REALLY hoping that activision doesn't put 6 F****** intro screens in GH:WT.
Seriously, do they not realize how retarded it is to force players to click through 6 intros every time they start the game?
phor11
@CHU BOI: I recognise the need to draw in more casual players, but I'm firmly of the opinion that the "Expert" level should be exactly that: the domain of freaks only.
I agree, GH3 was overcharted in the top-tier songs, to the point of near-impossibility. That's an example of being too extreme. RB is the other end of the spectrum: even the top-tier guitar songs will be easily shredded by an expert fake guitar player.
What I'd like to see in all these games is a return to GH1 difficulty curving. That was damn near perfect in terms of ramping up the hard.
freakout
@freakout: But making it easier works for Rock Band since it's more of a group experience; not everyone can wreck Cowboys from Hell on Hard. People are more willing to give it a chance if it's easier. Out of all my friends I'm the only one experienced at music games. They get really, really, reeaaalllyy frustrated with the drums and claims its too difficult so they always leave it to me to play for any post-novice songs, imagine if the GH difficulty came over to the drums. It would be way to intimidating in my opinion.
CHU BOI
I enjoyed GH3, I see no reason why I wouldn't enjoy GH:WT. Too many anti-activision fanboys here...
Dalren
@Captiosus: #2 = good point.
And by the way, Activision haven't even let us know whether or you can transfer your DLC songs to their new SKUs this fall. I don't think you can with GH Aerosmith and it's looking like the same with World Tour. Hopefully Harmonix will have this as an option since they've stressed the "platform" nature of RB. I'm gonna take a guess to say that they will take this action as a competitive advantage over GH and save the rest of us money.
Here me on this one Kotakuites: If GH makes us re-purchase previous DLC, or songs available from previous GH's, for World Tour then can we finally agree that they're milking us?
But I'll the rumored "Lips" game where you can upload MP3s and stuff. That's really cool and could sell well.
CHU BOI
@Captiosus: I generally don't go in for these point-for-point arguments 'cause they're so boring. But really:
Activision IS milking the franchise and you're blind if you can't see it.
Uh... did you actually read my point? I can see it. I know they're milking it. I mean, duh. It's only one of the most successful franchises of the decade. I'd be milking it too, if I was them.
This is not necessarily a bad thing, so long as the quality doesn't suffer as it did in Rocks The 80's. Which, if you'll recall, was a Harmonix product. So far Activision haven't set a foot wrong, except for boss battles.
Activision...tell you if you want to play drums on GH4 that they've got you by the balls.
Why are Activision obliged to make their games compatible with a competitor's proprietary hardware? Furthermore, the GH drum kit looks better.
Way too easy? Give me a break.
I played through Rock Band on Expert this weekend. I had a great time. I also didn't fail once. It was top fun, but the guitar parts are too easy. This is partly the consequence of not being a guitar-focused game, I know. But the fact is it does not offer a challenge for people experienced with these games.
So, no. No break for you! /Soup Nazi
freakout
@freakout: @ Fact 2: True. But we're just angry that because they're making peripherals that probably won't(it's not official yet, is it?) work with Rock Band, which alot of us music game enthusiasts have. I have RB and def won't mind buying picking up GHWT if I could use the same periphs. That's a real dick move, you have to admit. Some one said it earlier in this post but this is when competition really does suck
@ Fact 3: Yes, you are right, you can like them both. You'll just be very broke and eating ramen for a week like I will this fall. :-D
CHU BOI
@Captiosus: You, good sir, are a Godsend. I didn't feel like typing all that out myself, and I completely agree with you.
Americo
@WEGGLES90: GOING to get sick of the instruments piling up? Try "am already sick of". I have 2 SG guitars from the PS2, two Xplorer guitars, and the entire Rock Band set. Another set and I'd definitely be a garage band - as in, I'll need a garage to store all the shit.
@freakout:
1. Activision IS milking the franchise and you're blind if you can't see it. Guitar Hero for Mobile Phones? Guitar Hero DS? Guitar Hero: Aerosmith? Guitar Hero 4: We're Rock Band Now? This is all milking the franchise. Sounds familiar to some other Neversoft franchise.. what was the name of that again.. oh yeah.. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. Milked into oblivion. And Activision and Neversoft are doing it with Guitar Hero the exact same way.
2. The Guitars, sure, they're likely going to be compatible, but, unlike Harmonix who made the effort to make existing hardware compatible, Activision is tell you if you want to play drums on GH4 that they've got you by the balls. And this only pertains to the Xplorer and Les Paul guitars. The Fender doesn't work in GH3 as it is, so if you have RB but no prior GH game, again, Activision has you by the balls because you'll have to buy the guitar bundle, at the least.
3. Way too easy? Give me a break. GH3 is typical Neversoft: Let's make this game hard for difficulty's sake. On hard and beyond the note charts don't even resemble the songs you're supposed to be playing - instead they remind me of people who used to play arcade fighters by mashing buttons as fast as possible. There's no rhythm in GH3 from hard difficulty on up, just a bunch of "hey lets put as many notes in here as we can and try to make it sound like it's natural".
Or as someone pointed out on a topic a couple weeks back:
Neversoft: GH3, made by developers.
Harmonix: RB, made by developers who are also musicians.
The difference is day and night.
Captiosus
As usual, it's amazing to see how many people are willing to completely deny themselves a potentially awesome rhythm game experience, purely because it was published by Activision. "Milking the franchise!" "Evil empire!" Wah wah wah!"
Fact 1: Guitar Hero is a franchise that was born to be milked via DLC and add-on packs. (That was the first thing I thought when I first played it! "This'll be a license to print money...") The core gameplay is never going to change dramatically, and nor should it. You should be buying a GH game based on the strength of its setlist, not who made it, because the setlist is the only thing that counts.
Fact 2: Each new iteration of the game since the first (except 80's and Aerosmith) has brought new controllers. GH2 had the Red SG and the X-Plorer, GH3 brought in wireless, GH4 will be drums and new neck buttons. They have all been backwards-and-forwards-compatible with previous titles. This is unlikely to change, so to accuse Activision / Neversoft of milking consumers by making new peripherals is just stupid, when all the evidence to date says that the old guitars will work just fine. Don't forget, we saw the GH3 guitars being used in that recent on-stage demo video.
Fact 3: You can like both Guitar Hero and Rock Band at the same time. No need to act like a douche just because you can only afford one set of fake instruments, folks. Both games have strengths and weaknesses: GH is generally too difficult on the Expert levels, while Rock Band is (way) too easy.
Get over it, folks. Enough with the hate. It's so tiring.
freakout
Only problem I have, like others, is having to get the new peripherals for these games. I like GH and RB both just fine, the music that I like from each keeps me playing/buying both. Eventually they get stale, but DLC helps with that(rock band certainly shines there). Then like, in a month, the games feel brand new again.
Off that tangent, my room is already getting so full of fake instruments (not to mention ddr pads, beatmania, and one actual real keyboard). Another drumset will definitely eat up what space I had. But it's a small sacrifice for the fun I have, single player or with a friend or two.

@Eragon117: "biggest mistake ever is when you accidentally drop a torch on your living room carpet.
thejakeman: probably disagrees with you
No thank you. I have Rock Band and that is all I need.
Zinc666
Lets just hope they dont pull a GH/Rock Band scandal where things dont work back and forth. I really don't want ANOTHER set of plastic drums, a fourth guitar, and a second microphone. The guitar from GH3 I'm sure will work, the same way it works with rock-band, minus the features that are guitar-specific. The drum set though...if I remember there were 5 pads, and an additional one for the food pad that wasn't color coded.
Talleh
Harmonix and EA should counterattack with MTV influence and steal all those awesome artists away...
wildfire759
i think im one of the few who IS exited for this game. I understand that everyone is sick of buying new controllers, constant new versions being released, and that fact that guitar hero isnt rock band, but i personally found GH to be a far better game for single player use, and since i dont normally have 3 other people at my house, thats just fine with me. the new guitar sounds very cool, and the fact that it will have interpol and MORE MUSE has me very very exited.
canceric09
I can't justify buying another fake drum set.
At this point I was going to play this game for the guitar but I don't really want to buy another fake guitar either.
TK423
Jimi Foo Smash, Korn, System Ozzy, Muse = SOLD!!!
kingme
Hm. The Doors + System of a Down + Muse = me actually interested in a Guitar Hero game.
At least until I see what Rock Band 2 has in store. Sorry Activision, this whole "quiet drum pads" thing isn't as big a deal as you might think it is.
2NinjasTapedTogether
Damn it! Now I have to get the game. The Doors are my favorite band.
labrats5
I'm not going to get it.
I got rockband because I wanted a rhythem game I could play with a few other friends and I got that. I have been very happy with harmonixes products so far. Guitar hero 2 may not have had mastertracks, but I still thought it was more fun to play than guitar hero 3. At this point it seems like activision is just jumping around waving money and stealing peoples ideas.
I have no need for 2 seperate rockband setups in my living room, I'm short on space as it is.
Actually, if they do charge 179.99 I can see rockband outselling them do to being ever so slightly cheaper. Remember a lot of video game sales go to parents buying video games for thier kids. If I was a video game salesperson I would have a hard time describing a large difference between rockband and guitar hero so I can see paretns going for the cheaper game.
TheGreySpectre
with rock band 2 rumors running about its best to wait this one out

@kidnicky: Why don't you tell us how you really feel?
Len Bias Cocaine Surplus
Awesome, more good songs that will be seamlessly converted to Frets on Fire. And my cost?

mva5580
Fuck these stupid games. They're less interactive than Dragon's Lair and they cost 3-4 times what actual games cost, plus the DLC people inevitably buy.
I thought the first Guitar Hero was fun,and 2 was OK,but for Christ's sake,it's enough. It's like Tony Hawk, coincidentally also by Activision. We all loved Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, but who bought part 3 let alone part fucking 15 this past year?
kidnicky
Unless the fix the strum bar so it doesn't break after the first month I have no interest in Guitar Hero anymore.
Strangelove
This is when competition is bad. But no, you can't tell anyone that competition isn't always the answer. I liked Guitar Hero because of how casual it was, and refuse to pay more than a 100$ for a video game (unless it's MGS4, of course).

@VonDante: Agreed. Roadhouse Blues is my go-to song in Karaoke, stemming from an air-band performance when I was 11 at Summer Camp. But here's the other thing, the Doors have heavy keyboards in all of their familiar songs. IT just feels ... wrong not being able to play the barrelhouse piano in Roadhouse Blues, if that's one of the cuts, or God forbid Light My Fire.
Owen Good
ARE YOU KIDDING?!?! THE DOORS??!?! i Bought Rockband, but i now officially think i made the biggest mistake ever. I love the doors more then i love games. And not only that... I'm broke! *tear*
Eragon117
Dear Activision, Harmonix, and Konami,
NO!!!
Cyrian
Um.. If Guitar Hero IV honest to god landed The Doors... I may have to jump ship back to it from Rock Band.
They are one of the few artists I have been dreaming of playing in these rhythm games. I mean I would never buy the full pack.. but ID prob buy the game and the new guitar simply due to The Doors being in the game.

@Len Bias Cocaine Surplus: Here's a word of advice for young bands, never decide on your band name while having an early dinner at the Pizza Hut where your drummer works.

@Grumps: Well, OK, me too. But just to resell the gold iPhones and because unicorns are awesome.
@Len Bias Cocaine Surplus: Yeah, I agree. I doubt those Hendrix masters are going to be easy to come by-- didn't we just have this problem with Who's Next?
And I agree with you about the DLC issue-- Activision haven't shown themselves to be too wise on this subject so far.

@Arsenicberyllium: Trust me when I say that its not just the internet that has this problem.
My band, Definitely Gary, has had its name mangled on marquees and show listings for years. Its really embarrassing when the guy you hire to make posters and flyers for your shows fucks up your band's name and you have to use the materials or face a low turn-out.
ZeeBeeEss
@CheckersMcGavern: Despising MTV would be a rather silly reason to not buy Rock Band.
Len Bias Cocaine Surplus
In the fourth paragraph "materialism" is misspelled as matrialism. ;) Please edit it! ;p
PrivateJ0ker
@wild homes 5: no disassemble!: Also I'm guess with the success of Rock Band and the previous success of Guitar Hero bands are more willing to let up their master tracks in pursuit of the almighty dollar. Although I having trouble believing there will be no issues finding and using Hendrix master tracks.
Their DLC plan is what will make or break the game. It doesn't matter what they initially have, they have to find a way to out do Rock Band in DLC somehow, which I find almost impossible for them to do.
Len Bias Cocaine Surplus
The new guitar has me intrigued.... Since I don't own Rockband.... and I despise MTV.... I may have to check this out.
CheckersMcGavern
I don't need a touch sensitive guitar!!!!! I have 4 fake guitars here, 3 for GH and 1 for RB, not to mention, 2 real ones! Why the hell do I need another one?! Sell the drums, software and mic as a seperate bundle. Oh, wait, they want to make more money! And why break it up, when they can just make you buy what you don't need at a higher price? Plus, the main people who are buying GH4 are return customers from the previous GH's, and very few new customers.
If RB was smart, they'd release the songs that are set to be released on GH4 and less people will buy it. Hurry up, Harmonix, get with it! Don't let them steal your thunder.
Beatboxtaun
Since H(EA)rmonix decided to start enforcing the stupidly short 60 day warranty on their crappy drumsets, I'm probably going to have to buy a new drumset anyway by the time GH4 comes out...
rcf1105
Their updated guitar controller sounds like there will be no skill required in the solo passages if you can "solo like you want."
ZeeBeeEss
@WEGGLES90: This isn't just for you, but I want to say:
It's ridiculous, not rediculous.
It's definitely, not defiantly or defanitely.
This is to everyone of the internet.
Oh, and GH4 definitely won't be compatible with Rock Band, because Red Octane and Activision have this ridiculous obsession with proprietary software.
Arsenicberyllium
@wild homes 5: no disassemble!: I don't know, I think I'd buy it if it came with five solid gold iPhones sewn together with unicorn hair.
Grumps
@Len Bias Cocaine Surplus: Amen to that. But somehow I have a feeling that somebody other than Activision will wind up footing the bill for those licenses.
And sorry, Activision-- I don't care if your new touch-sensitive guitar neck is made of five solid gold iPhones sewn together with unicorn hair, I'm not buying. You are the evil empire. Goodbye.
wild homes 5: no disassemble!
"This is the end..."
MacAoidh
This whole music game scene is so selfdistructive and lame.
People are going to get sick of buying instruments, the lack of compatibility is frusterating, the companies need to grow up. I'm buying Rock Band. If Rock Band 2/ GH 4 aren't compatible I'm not getting them. It's rediculous what they expect from the comsumer...
WEGGLES90
I will give them credit they seem to be going after the insanely difficult licenses. Hendrix and The Doors must cost a ton.
Len Bias Cocaine Surplus
I'm still waiting for Rock Band 2...

matrialism?
is that when you go and have 6 wives a year?
i know it's nit picky, but in this age of live spell checks there really is no excuse.
thejakeman: probably disagrees with you
I'm not a huge fan of the Doors, and I hate seeing Guitar Hero being turned into the new yearly (quarterly?) whipping boy of those talentless hacks at Neversoft. Sorry, Bobby Kotick, but my monies are belong to Harmonix.
wild homes 5: no disassemble!
I've known about the Doors on GH4 for awhile. I cruise their official message boards and their manager said they've given permission for a couple of songs.
He did not say which ones.
WordMan
sounds good... but the fact of who the developer is and who the publisher is makes me scared, very scared for how they can fuck this game up completely.
The drums and guitar sound cool, but that's red octane for you, a great peripheral maker, if only they woulda made the rock band stuff somehow, then there wouldn't be crappy switches in the Rock Band guitars and poorly put together drum sensors.
Grumps
Im a bit concerned abou the exchange ratio from $USD to €uro, because were being quite ripped off with Rock Band's current price tag over here in Euroland. If Guitar Hero IV ends up going the same road (or worse, the Guitar Hero III guitar become obsolete), no way im gonna dish out that amount. Unless I gather a few friends and we buy one single bundle for the lot of us.

DAM DAM DAM!
I want to hate it but i LOVE Interpol.
Falconrith
It's still not enough to win me back. Rock Band is the real Guitar Hero, and I can only store so many peripherals. GH4 may be great, the guitar might be cool, but I already have Rock Band, and obviously, they'll innovate as they go on, as well. GH is dead to me, and I know I'm not the only one in this scenario.
karasu is my homeboy
No, Owen, Guitar Hero III was really Guitar Hero IV, this will be like V, or VI.
ggodo
Uhh, cool? Honestly, I can't really make a judgement if there are no pics.
minimelo321
Interpol?!
D:
Do very want. Shame it's likely to be another product-placement filled mediocrefest.
strobefx
I don't have room for another whole set of instruments! I'm seriously hoping this game doesn't render my two current GH guitars obsolete.
TitillatedOcelot
Ugh figures they starting having music I'm interested in after I've already spent $200 + on music games.
