Peter Moore Can't Get No Satisfaction
Posted by Brian Ashcraft at 6:20 AM on June 13, 2008
Is EA Sports ever satisfied? No. Never. Just ask EA Sports exec Peter Moore. Peter is EA Sports ever satisfied? Over on the cleverly titled Peter Moore Blog, Peter Moore writes:
We're never satisfied. There's always more we can do. It's what we love about our business. I hate to sound like a cheerleader, but the facts are the facts. And I don't expect them to change any time soon. We're hitting this season in terms of quality and innovation stronger than we ever have at EA SPORTS. If I'm wrong, you'll see me sporting a new tattoo - maybe a competitor's logo?
No, no more tattoos. Please, Peter. Elsewhere in his corporate locker room peptalk, Moore talks about the bright future FIFA and NHL have and hints at a new "groundbreaking feature" for NBA LIVE to be announced at E3.

I think you guys mistitled the article, wasn't it supposed to be People Buying EA Sports Titles Can't Get No Satisfaction?
But really, it's nice to see Peter Moore's bravado hasn't been dimmed by the (new) evil empire. I actually feel a lot better about EA with him there. He's like a giant puppy dog.

@Torgen got his apology faceplate but not his fixed GH3 disc: yeah, a nice fleshed out tournament Curling game would be sweet. the curling in Decasports is supposed to be pretty tight. one of the only good games on the disc. i might have to rent it

You heard it from Peter Moore himself, all EA Sports games are incomplete.

@Cobra_Girl: Unlike the other people I agree with you.
I bet the "groundbreaking feature" is a holographic court with holographic players with the option to turn on Slam Dunk tokens.

@Torgen: Hah hah - good point. Who's left to compete with EA Sports? Maybe he'll get a tattoo of a TV network that actually airs the real sports.

Competitor's logo? It's funny because their exclusivity deal eliminated their competition.
@teh_joe: Maybe get the Briar and/or Tournament of Hearts license?

Meh. Sports game features are nothing more than gimmicks. The gameplay has been the same since it went 3d, and probably will continue to be the same for the rest of time unless they change the rules of the actual game. It's not like they can (or should) take creative license with how the game is actually played.
If you want anything more than a roster update/graphics upgrades, you're in the wrong genre.

I really don't like Peter Moore.
Maybe because I heard it was him that finally shifted Sega into killing the Dreamcast (and leaving the company no so long afterwards showing HUGE desire to work with the consequences of his decision).

@Cobra_Girl: EA as a whole or just their sports division? Either way, I'd be inclined to disagree. EA Sports used to be the public whipping boy for 'Roster Update 200x', but they've set a different course lately. Anything considered a 'crappy game' either gets fixed by the next iteration - or dropped entirely (ie Tiger Woods for the Wii).

Peter is in a rut, maybe he should consider piercings...now that would raise some eyebrows!

@Cobra_Girl: They're doing their best to change that with the NCAA and Madden games this year.
I'm playing NCAA on Saturday (GameStop tournaments) and I'm pretty excited for even just that...

He's one of the few Exec's you can trust to do something like this. Moore was great at Microsoft and so far he's doing a good job at EA Sports. I'm sure he'll do fine on his evaluation.
