I actually really liked the multiplayer demo of this game. You have no idea how fun and conductive to creative gameplay blowing up walls is until you actually play the game. Sure, it's scaled down compared to the prior Battlefields, but the way that the game lets you play Battlefield, how you would like to play it, is actually pretty damn awesome.

I'm going to be buying this game. Maybe not on Day One, or Week One, but I'll definitely get around to it.

Man, I absolutely love these commercials, they're probably the funniest commercials I've seen in ages for any game. I don't know how good this game is, but damn, I've loved all their commercials so far. The Mad World one seems a bit forced, but the other two are great.

That's my exact feelings towards stealth missions up there, which is why I don't play stealth games, and had problems not blasting everything even on the stealth parts of the British CoD4 missions.

Okay. So much of the hardcore crowd bellows, "AHR!! NOT BATTLEFIELD!! NOT MY BATTLEFIELD!!" Etc. Except with more dignity, I'm sure.

I did play the first Battlefield long, long ago when it was in beta. It was awesome. I will concede to that. And I'm sure the sequels were brilliant as well, as everyone seems to attest.

But this is a console version, streamlined for console play. Console games are often not as robust or 'hardcore' as their PC counterparts - it would be difficult to develop a successful game with no keyboard to map to, and the limited customization options that are only starting to appear with DLC.

I've been having a blast with this game. Call me a noob! Call me ignorant! I don't care. The point is, I have had a lot of fun with the demo level online. Each time you play the map, it becomes a different experience with many of, 'Woah,' moments thanks to the way the destruction changes the map. Your tactics have to adapt to that.

The game may seem shallow at first glance, but the more you get to know the level and delve in, the more you find yourself enjoying the game. It grows on you. I would suggest to the naysayers to give the game another chance. Yes, there are a lot of very cool things that could have been added, but if you look past that and take the game as what it is - a solid online console shooter with a transforming environment - you might find it's rather entertaining. Though, if you look toward it as what should have been the next evolution on the BF series, or a tactical action experience with ounces of realism, it is no wonder you would be disappointed. I guess that's why they didn't call it BF3.

I will admit - and I hope they change this in the retail version - it is rather annoying that after three or four rounds with one group, it spits you back out to the main screen. No after battle stats. And then you are left to jump into the middle of a round with a new group. Bad design choice, IMO. But, again, hopefully that is altered in retail.

i actually thought the game was good. its unique, and its not like COD4 where is a direct pin point shot every time, its more about spraying and praying because the game is more about team tactics than personal skill. at first the controls were weird, but i got used to it and thought it was great fun.

Personally, I'm gonna try and buy this when it's released.
I love the humor in this game, and the quality of voice acting. Playing the demo, it honestly felt like I was in a movie. And the characters...I love the characters!
This kind of humor is rarely seen in games, everything now is always so serious (which is a reason I loved Armed and Dangerous, the humor). Several times in the demo I actually laughed out loud.

I loved the demo, especially the multiplayer. It's a battlefield done right on consoles (unlike the atrocity that was Battlefield 2: Modern Combat).
Heck, it's in some places better than the PC ones (which I still love, I have all of the series installed on my PC!). The sound in it is amazing, the way the soldiers shout and yell during the battles, and destructible ennviroments are a huge plus. Sure, it may be small-scale (as opposed to the PC ones) but it sure doesn't feel like it. The battles feel a lot more "organic" than the PC ones.

I like some things about the demo. For instance, being able to blow the walls off of any building was fun.

However, the game is launching with only one online mode. That's pretty weak. Also, as far as I could tell, there's no cover system. That could be intentional, to encourage a more "balls out" playing style, but a simple "duck" button would have been nice.

I thought these were pretty funny, and I really love the games they were spoofing (do GTA next!), but the controls in the demo were really putting me off. If they allow me to remap the controls then I would enjoy it a lot more. I mean, putting both reverse and accelerate on the same side of the controller? That just feels a bit awkward.

Whats going to funny is to see some of you commentors saying shit like "oh the controls are horrible" even though it basically controls just like COD4, and that the game blows, but after it launches will be singing it's praises.

Bad Company, from my experience with the demo, doesn't seem like it's going to be any worse that COD4 or RS:V. But because it's being published by EA everyone likes to give it shit. Heaven forbid EA release a good game every once in ahwile.

oh and why all the bed wetting over the MGS4 spoof? i guy hiding in a barrel is pretty silly. Metal gear solid does have lots of crazy japanese tech and mech stuff throughout it.

If you played the demo or watched that other video about the guy making the video diary to send home, you'd maybe understand that, yes, it is supposed to be ironic and somewhat satirical. There is a saying: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." Think about it.

As far as the demo goes, I thought it was a little too short and maybe wasn't the best representation of the game as a whole. I don't see what the big deal with the controls were. Granted, they are a little different, but Dog forbid somebody does something different nowadays.

What kills me is that it can somehow be determined that these little quips are construed as DICE/EA saying that their game is 'so much better' than these other 'amazing games'. I mean seriously, I love GoW and RS:V, but they have their funny moments (especially the stupid GoW commercial that they lampoon), and these ads capture them precisely. I'm not just agreeing with the reviews because I haven't played the full game. I just think that all the naysayers who are just bashing the game based on a mediocre demo and a couple of quirky commercials need to just shut up.

The one thing Bad Company has going for it is it's humor, obviously.. mostly because shooting games take themselves WAY too seriously (except MGS, it's still humble somehow), it's all the better to poke fun at.

But, yeah. The spots are good fun, but I won't be buying. :P

Either (1) these developers are jackholes, and they believe that Bad Company is the new sliced bread, so they run around whipping digital mushrooms the foreheads of Kojima and Cliffy and their teams, or (2) these clips are their way of paying homage to some of favorite shooters, getting some promo for their title, and having a little fun all the while. I'd like to believe it's the latter.

The tone of the game suggests a comedic satire within a shooter. How often do you see developers explore satire in a game? Or even comedy and humor? Maybe it's a throwback to having a fun, which I have no problem with when it comes to gaming.

Anyway, demo was enjoyable, played a bit like an arcade shooter, which is what I think they were going for. Didn't have the polish that GoW or MGS4 have, but I'll bet it's no Haze either. I wouldn't pay full retail, but would consider picking it up with some concurrent giftcard offer or something.

Do you think Seth Green uses parodies in Robot Chicken because he thinks he is better than them, or because he knows his target audience are going to get the pop culture reference and have a chuckle? Bad Company is simply doing the same thing (and I think they're doing a good job at it).

Anyway, never was a big fan of batlefield..the lack of story was kinda off-putting for me, but this one is interesting me more and more. I think i'll get the demo later on today.

Though one thing I'm wondering about..are those videos just ads or are they actual cutscenes from the game?

I've got this one pre-order and can't wait. I felt that Oasis was a terrible map to put on the demo. It was bland and sub par when compared to most of the battlefield maps of yester year we all know and love, which could rub newcomers to the BF franchise the wrong way..

and to all the non-believers of a console Battlefield, I played a LOT of BF2 and 2142 and I'm loving Bad Company. No nade/claymore spam which ruined the infantry combat for me in the PC games.. the equipment and classes are really well laid out and the combat is pretty intense. It's an excellent multiplayer experience.

I got bored of the single player in the demo pretty quick, but that's secondary for any Battlefield game.

I really like how oddball the humor is. It's not lowbrow jock banter, and it's not a constant barrage of wisecracking. The absurdity of the situation in contrast to their nonchalance is what gives it most of its kick. Funny stuff, especially the Rainbow Sprinkles one.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the controls; they're almost identical to every other FPS out there. The beta on the 360 had horrible hit detection. The Demo on the PS3(my 360 is down for the count) had better hit detection but still was just a mediocre fps at best. Unfortunately I'll probably still buy it because it will be the only new war type game I'll have to hold me over until SOCOM Confrontation. Or maybe I'll just try to get back into CoD4...

I wonder how many of the people here pissing and moaning about them making fun of other games, were laughing their asses off at Kojima's joke in MGS4 about changing discs.

Now I'm not saying that it wasn't a good joke, I'm just saying that it was satire like these ads are. And to get infuriated over something so stupid is retarded.

These commercials are awesome. I really cannot wait for Bad Company. I thought the demo was fun as shit, and still play the multiplayer mode while waiting for the release. I like how you guys get so defensive about the ads. I also REALLY like how you think it is penis envy! I'm pretty sure there is none of that going on. I mean, I have never been an MGS fan so I can't really comment there, but Gears of War? Yeah, penis envy over "get cover, shoot, repeat." And Rainbow Six? Don't even get me started on that game. Vegas 2 was such a pile.

I can't believe how defensive some people get over these. MGS4, Gears, and Rainbow 6 Vegas are all awesome. I thought the commercials were pretty funny (especially the R6 Vegas one) and felt that the commercials are referencing these games tactfully (without downright insulting them like that ridiculous Saints Row 2 ad.)

You may have not found the commercials funny, or you may not be interested in the game and that's fine too. But some commenters here are genuinely offended. Like if the commercial took off a white glove and slapped them in the face challenging them to a fanboy duel.

what annoy's me is a lot of people are saying that they're making fun of great games (true) but that they're saying their game is better (not true) stop over reacting and just appreciate a decent spoof. it's just a joke and i'm sure it made the majority of you atleast smile. just enjoy it for what it is.

If ever there was a game that really needed to be made fun of, it is MGSIV. It needs to be mocked and mocked hard.

I don't play Tom Clancy games so the rainbow six one was lost on me. The GOW and MGS ones were pretty funny though.

First off, congrats to EA's marketing team on this one, these ads are full of win and awesome.

Pity the game itself is, to quote Family Guy: "Shallow and pedantic."

If you like the demo, go ahead, play the game, I myself am not a fan of the 100% health syringe with the 5 sec cooldown.

Just remember to STFUAJPG, and keep the hype and marketing out of your decision to buy a game. ;)

RSV2 - A stealth, tactical shooter and I had to fight a fucking helicopter. A fucking boss battle and it was a fucking helicopter.

Battlefield series has its own feel about it that no other game can really match.

Large open warfare. Ok so you don't like this slower version of FPS and you like the close quarters combat of CoD 4, good for you. :D

But if you don't like a game, you don't have to talk really. :P

BTW Love this game really, pretty fun, been needing a BF game to play on console.

I don't think any of you udnerstand the point of these jokes, it's not to use "penis envy" or to prove that it's a better game..but to show that BF: Bad Compnay isn't pretending to be anything else. The R6 commercials made it seem like a super tactical game; when you can pretty much beat it by running around shooting blind. The same goes for the gears advertisement; walking down a narrow empty alleyway has nothing to do with the game. All of the BF:BC advertisements are just "let's blow it the fuck up". Quit getting so upset about these commercials, fanfags.

Well, I don't really find them funny, but I guess I don't necessarily mind them making the ads. They're trying to immediately benefit from the success of some other games by asking the inverse questions. Why is marcus running through the streets to Mad World? Why does this have to be a stealth mission? Why is he hiding under a drum can? I guess I don't really mind, but having listened to some of Dice's podcast and Developer Diaries, they do seem somewhat cocky about their games.

I'm really thinking this might become a sleeper hit, at least critically. I played the demo which was basically Grand Theft Auto: War Zone, and not only was it immediately apparent that this was an homage to EVERY war movie (Apocalypse Now, Platoon maybe even a Forrest Gump reference) but also a screwball comedy, brought to life by more interesting characters than I've seen in a LONG time within the confines of a video game. I don't know why exactly, but something just clicked for me, and I really think this might be a great game and blow expectations. I even forgot this was part of the horrendously boring, soulless Battlefield 'multiplayer-is-all-that-matters-so-go-capture-another-base' series.

First EA game I've thought about playing in a long time. Great demo, you have at least one satisfied customer so far.

@bobdisgea: Did they once say they were better? No, they did not. They're just goofy commercials, and I, for one, find them hilarious. They may not make me buy the game (rent first), but they are entertaining. It seems to me that they aren't saying MGS, RS:V and GoW are bad, they're just showing that the characters in BC aren't normal soldiers, and don't really follow established norms, like stealth and discretion.

Commercials are pretty funny, especially the MGS one, but still doesn't make me wanna buy this shitty game. Beta sucked and demo sucked. They took out the fun that was in BF2 for the 360. No prone, no 6 people in a heli then parachute down ontop of a building, iron sights suck as it blurs half your view...I'm sorry, but this game is just a huge dissapointment.

Not as good as BF2:MC or the PC versions.

The demo IMHO is pretty fun. Yeah, well it's not CoD4, but it has vehicles, destructible environments and a good amount of unlockable weapons, I'm getting it first day.
