Blizzard Worldwide Invitational: The Blizzard Museum Show Diablo 3 Concept Art

Ever since the Blizzard Museum opened at Blizzard's HQ earlier this year, it has captured the attention of fans around the world and in a prominent position on the second floor of the WWI is a scaled down version which not only takes attendees on a trip back into the past, it also offers some hints at what is to come, with new artwork for Diablo III (which appeared mysteriously right after the opening ceremony) and the latest concept art for Wrath.
Wallspace is given to the three major IPs along with Blizzards older games that even the most hardened Diablo fan might not of heard of, titles like The Lost Vikings and Battle Chess II. Between each section are large flat screen TVs showing looped movies for World of Warcraft and their other projects. Everything is here, from the novels to the artbooks and prints of the individual coverart for all their games. There's even a replica of an orc and wolf statue which fans might recognise as identical to one that appeared on eBay a couple of months ago and a scaled down version of the one on Blizzard's campus.

Going to have to agree with other, I remember playing the original Battle Chess but Battle Chess II?!?! Craziness... Now Blackthorne, that is a game that could use a sequel!

@PCapologist: hrm, i had forgotten about how gruesome and scary diablo 1 really was, I think a lot of it had to do with just how much of a mystery everything was. but for me diablo 2 already ruined all of that, it was a fun game and the world and story and characters were all interesting, but it was not nearly as scary and creepy as 1...
still looking forward to 3 but i guess i had forgotten the scary roots of the series (you'd think it'd be harder to forget, what with the name.. oh video games)

The concept art for Diablo III looks interesting, and I'm sure many will love it, but neither it (nor the graphics in the gameplay trailer with the ridiculously lame voiceover) instill any of the dread or fear that I was hoping would return to the series. Diablo I was dark, grimy and controversial (at the time) and II followed suit mostly, but the new stylized art just totally detaches it from something that should be....i dunno......scary?
Just my opinion, of course. Not a big fan of their consistently homogenized art direction.

Wait, they did Battle Chess 2? Holy crap, I have that game. I must admit, however, that I only stuck the disc in to play the demos.

Shoo I lost my copy of Diablo II like 6 years ago, I wanna get the battle chest but that bitch still retails for $35-39.99! Kinda lame considering WoW goes for $9.99 now.

I wonder if blizzard has an art book... There's some really great looking stuff just there alone i cna't imagine how much concept art there is!

Is it me, or is that a rogue-ish looking class on the bottom left in 2620739620_0f0325fe08_b.jpg. It could just be the fact that it's 1 AM and my head is like "whoa?".

I've already accepted the idea of Diablo 3 never to come out. But now that it's up and developing, I eager to get it. Jusfing by the artwork and trailers, the game is gonna be awesome (like someone doubted it)!
