British Sales Charts
Posted by Luke Plunkett at 3:30 PM on June 26, 2008
Metal Gear Solid 4 remains at the top for the second week in Britain, though a quick glance over Snake's ageing shoulders will see that Britain's love for Mario & Sonic has been replaced by a love for Lego & Indiana Jones. And it's a love that knows no boundaries, as three versions of the game hit the top ten (Wii, DS, PS2), while the other two (360, PS3) still manage to make the top 20. Yes, I said the top 20, which brings us to the part where I tell you about a change in the way we'll be posting the British sales charts.
I've always posted the top ten sellers from the previous week. Time for a change. So to open things up a bit, spice things up a bit, from here on, I'll be posting the entire top 40, which should give you all a better idea of the buying habits of the British public. Enjoy.

Some of those games seem horrible. But I can't really judge Cooking Mama 2 until I play it. And what the hell is Game Party?

@Rockwallaby: And he finds competitive prices on his Coors by using Microsoft's Live search!

@idkmybffgreg: He could also use Windows Live Search (the search that pays you back) to find a copy of Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit and relax while shooting Kamehamehas.

I think this is the first time seeing COD4 for PS3 selling more than the Xbox version. Maybe MGS4 helped. Unless the version is reversed.

@kumuasata: The character in Alone in the Dark has such a tough life. I bet he could use some time to vent with a nice cold Coors.

Next week, Smash Bros Brawl makes a less than dramatic entry into the British sales charts, so Nintendo Europe assumes that means that there wasn't any harm in delaying it because nobody wanted it anyhow. . .

@Swift_:
It could just be that everyone who owns a 360 now has COD4, although the hardware surge seems the more likely reason.

Am I reading incorrectly or is the PS3 CoD 4 outselling the 360 version? Is this attributable to the MGS hardware surge? The same trend doesn't follow for GTA IV, or maybe it does... since it's not usual for the versions to be so neck-in-neck.

@Metal_Slug_Solid: Cooking Mama 2 is better than many of the other DS games on that list.

@goldwings: Apparently it was higher last week too. Increase of PS3 sales (MGS4) = more people getting CoD4 on PS3? Likely.

I'm kinda surprised that CoD is still in that top 40 chart.
How was that game been released ?

I just bought a Wii this week. The temptation to resist Mario & Sonic is too much. It must be genetic or something.

Surprising low amount of casual games on there. I know they are there, but not as much as actual games (I count 42 All Time Classics as an actual game).
Next week, SSBB will shoot to the top, then drop to 10th or something the following week and be replaced by Big Beach Sports

I see having to type out 40 top selling games would have been a little too taxing. Thank god for the print screen button :D
Also on Ninja Gaiden 2 at 22, I'd just like to say HA and HA again, that will teach you to deny PS3 owners such seith swinging pleasures.

So would I be right in saying there is not a single PC game in the top 40? That's rather depressing...

I don't know if I'm missing something here or what but why is it that sales charts from all over the world seem to get posted but no one ever posts anything about US sales charts? Was this addressed in the past or am I the only one who thinks that's a bit strange?
