Let's Cheat At Wii Fit!
Posted by Brian Ashcraft at 10:00 PM on June 27, 2008
Wii Fit is wildly popular. Some folks are even buying it in hopes of dropping a few pounds — which is fine. If used as intended, Wii Fit is a suitable enough for exercise support (though, it might give best results if combined with traditional exercise). But like everything, there must be sneaky ways to cheat. There are! According to C|Net's Crave, here are a couple ways you can fool Wii Fit into thinking you are fitter:
Make your Mii taller
Enter heavy clothing
Waggle your way through jogging
Ski from the sofa
Use the Balance Board as a standard controller for heading
Good times! Crave does point out that even cheating at Wii Fit is a workout of sorts.

@FightingChance: And the Wiimote is basically the Power Glove done right... and the design is almost the NES controller.
We've come full circle!

@FightingChance: Man, my dad used to yell at me so much for pounding the floor while doing that.
Wii fit is a stupid and useless game. IF you much use a game to motivate yourself to drop a few pounds do something like DDR. Ill put money on it that you'll lose more weight with that than with Wii Sit.

The tradition of pounding the NES Power Pad with your fists for cheetah speed in Track and Field lives on.

I'm sure that the need to even cheat at WiiFit highlights underlying problems aside from needing to lose weight...

I was thinking of the power pad, too. My brother and sister and I used to hammer on it all at the same time to run as fast as possible.

I actually did the the waggling through jogging thing just because it was easy to add minutes through my "Unlock-o-tron" clock through it so I could quickly unlock everything. Then I played through the rest of Wii Fit properly.

Well, it's not a game on who does better, it's a game to better yourself. But with every game, there's going to be a way to cheat the system. Everyone got down on thier hands and knees in the 80's with the NES running pad and pounded down on that one too.

Wtf is so interesting about this concept? Gamepro had an article that goes through this also. If you're not interested in actually playing the game the way its supposed to be played then don't play it.

@CowboyRob:"Cheating at this would be like cheating at golf - you are only hurting yourself."
But winning!
Cheating at Wii Fit is pretty low though, I mean..come on..its not even hard..you can't LOSE. I always thought the idea of cheating was to help you win..you cant WIN Wii Fit.

We have WiiFit at our house and we really don't think of it as a "game". It's become part of our workout routine and we also do the body test daily to measure our progress.
Cheating at this would be like cheating at golf - you are only hurting yourself.

@Metropolis: just because you're still fat and unsuccessful at life doesn't mean wii fit doesn't work.

@Beatboxtaun: not only was slamming your hands down on the pad the best way to run fast, you could also more or less fly when it came to the long jump.

I know some people will cheat at anything, but this one takes the cake. What could possibly be gained by fooling a wii fit?

I knew you could do it, I just didn't think of how. I wouldn't cheat though. It seems more fun to actually play it like it was intended to.

Thank you, I'll take my money as cold hard cash thanks.
I have lost around 35 kilos in two months. As well as the jogging and muscle workouts there is the yoga which I really enjoy and a step aerobics thing. You know like DDR you move in time to the music, steeping in a particular manner.I can't stand it but my girlfriend loves it. The boxing version is the mutts nuts though.

Agreed. I don't understand the logic of wii fit being useless. Pushups, situps, running and all that were perfectly valid methods of exercise until wii fit came around and when in the context of the game they're considered gimmicks for some reason?
Before anyone says you can do all those things without wii fit, there is the added benefit of having the game track my weight and progress, help my form and timing with each exercise, and pair the strength exercises with yoga exercises in ways that make sense. Granted, I could do all those things on my own, but then I'd have to buy a scale, a pedometer, a stop watch and a bunch of other junk that would end up being more expensive and time consuming than just buying the damn game.

@KiLE: Amen. The husband and I are enjoying it. Much cheaper than buying all the other crap, and WAY cheaper than going to a gym full of other people's germs. It keeps track of everything for me.
@Weirdwolf: I hate the step aerobic thing too, but love the boxing.
My doctor is recommending WiiFit to patients as it's much less boring than exercise. It's a video game!
The guy in the picture: FAIL. Ultimate fail. Tattoo "LAME" on his forehead.
