I really couldn't give a flying turd about trophies. Every time I unlock one on the 360 I go "meh". It;s only any good if it actually changes the gameplay.

The TF2 trophies are the only ones I've seen that are worth while. they reward certain actions by counting towards weapon unlocks. They also make you to play certain ways, which by Valve's careful design encourage certain skills in you. (Almost like training).

Most 360 Achievements are pretty basic by contrast; Clear level 1 get 250 points, clear level 2 = 250 points etc.....

whats the value on a trophie when everyone has them, yes we can all achieve different things and even the same things in life, thats what life is, a series of achievements or underachieving. not collecting pieces of shit trophies, its like you're being given one for no reason may as well have just called it achievements and achieved some parity across platforms while tipping the hat at MS for the idea in the first place.

I'm worried that people will start doing the same things I used see on XBox Live. Before my XBox Live Gold expired, I would get kicked out of games because I was not there to help support their achievement farming.

@The Whaleman: That's what I meant. Few developers will see the benefit in revisiting an old PS3 game to implement trophies as it will cost money. I can believe IW will do it for CoD4(they appear to be nice guys who want to do stuff for the fans), but others might not be as benevolent.

I just hope Sony makes it a rule that all developers add trophies to future games.

@PixelRambo: If you had seen the video preview of it, you would have heard something like "all developers already have the tools to implement this in their old titles". So if an old game won't get it, it's the developers call more or less.

I am a bit miffed that they are not implementing trophies in the older games(or recent). I was hoping for trophies for the second playthrough of MGS4 and was a bit excited to revisit Uncharted because of it.

This is actually something that I was afraid of. Sony is potentially half-assing it by implementing it in a few titles selected by whatever, and that it isn't a standard to all games, but an option for developers which means many will skip it.

This is why I love Live over PSN: Standardization.

To all those that are complaining about games missing off this list, you need to ask yourself, is that game a first-party or third-party game? This is a list of FIRST-PARTY games. MGS4 != 1st party, so it very well may get achievements, that's up to Konami. Same thing with IW and COD4.

I can see Uncharted and Heavenly Sword in particular having trophies put in since they already have a faux-Achievement system built in, begging for an update to make them official.

Metal Gear Solid 4, because of it's status, will inevitably get trophies as well.

@TheAngryHeretic: on the 360 online games are p2p, but on ps3 they're on dedicated servers so people can't just kick you out. unless the game has a voting function for that.

anyway, the only game i will probably have from the list is Little Big Planet. i'm not exactly fond of multiplayer, nor do I like FPSes that can't be played the way they're meabt to be - with a mouse and keyboard.

What would be great now is if they could make it a little easier to change gamer picture. You have to go way into the personal data options (with your credit card and stuff) in order to change it and their selection of icons is dismal. For a company that vowed to give us free online matchmaking but wants to make money off of microtransactions, they sure could take a page from the Microsoft playbook and sell us some gamerpics and themepacks. But they haven't. Oh well, maybe 20 months from now..

Any PS3 game that's also on the 360 will probably get Trophies patched in. The devs already thought up a list for the 360, so they can just sort out the Bronze/Silver/Gold crap and port them over...

..but WTF at the launch list. Massive failure. I was expecting MGS4 and other big games to have them up, not some crappy little PSN games or games not due out for months.

So on the patch side,you have SSHD and Novastrike will get it's patch in Aug with 15 trophies so that's two games.

I'd say it's a good bet to see Uncharted,GT5p,Pixel Junk Monsters,HVB,FLOW,maybe echochrome with patches.

This update is going to be really awesome, and VERY much needed! I'm even kinda excited about being able to google whilst in a game. As someone mentioned before, this will make looking up hints/tips/FAQs/Walkthroughs whilst playing a game possible! no more going back and forth from a computer to the PS3! hehe.

Also, I am hoping by august they will have almost all the PS3 games supported for trophies/soundtracks. man this is exciting!

Stop complaining about the titles that have trophy support right now, these are all 1st party studios and 2nd party independent devs. They aren't listing the 3rd party developers because its not their decision whether their game gets trophy support or not, but at the start of the video they clearly noted that all developers have the tools they need to implement trophy support into their games. So instead of bitching to Sony; bitch to the devs who will either bypass this or listen to the feedback and provide it.

COD4 is such an awesome game, the campaign was very exciting.

I'm sure that the campaign for COD5, even though it is produced by a different company, will also be awesome. So will Resistance 2.

The PS3 has enough awesome games out right now, both first and third party games. There are finally good games to rent our buy.

I just wish the graphics behind the trophies was better.

I'm mad they should have had retro-active trophies because I have 100% completion on Assassins creed, all flags all high points all assassinations, everything, ohh!!! and all the Templars are dead too. Plus I beat metal gear and almost have it beaten on The Boss Extreme, I'll have to wait now to finish the game again so it can count 4 something other than the save file.
