I like Pokemon cards because they evolve int stronger Pokeman and they have higher levels of Pokemon that don't evlove but the other Pokemon that are not evloving can't make you win in a Poekmon contest.

That would be an awesome birthday, if I was turning 12 instead of 21.

Hear, hear on the "Pokemon TCG" video game. Loved the first one and loved every bit I played of a translated second one. I kinda liked the TCG, but didn't have the money to buy cards ofetn (and when I did, "ANOTHER FOSSIL! ARGH!"). Being older, I had exactly no one to play the game with save for my sister, who'd rather ogle her cards than play with em.
I'd be just a slight past ridiculously giddy if they'd bring out another TCG video game and throw it on the DS. Touch screen controls, full color renders of the cards? Come on, man. Hurts my feelings just thinking about it.

@Mikazukinoyaiba:Yes it's still going. Funny because people proclaimed it was on it's way to death back when Wizards of the Coast was still running it.
The TGC is still very much loved. Gabe of Penny Arcade fame has a weekly TGC League night which he runs/attends and has for coming up on a year. It's just out of mainstream attention as Pokemon has become a semi cultural icon now and thus only gets outside media when it hits a milestone or such, much like comics and other related things.
I stopped playing back in 2002 or so aftr being DCI #1 ranked for over a year and a half in my state, but if I can ever get my life to level out, i'd step back in.
@maraxusofk:That wouldn't be a half bad idea, Yu-gi-oh and whatnot see yearly updates of there TGC video game versions, but there must be a reason they haven't tried from then on.

I love the Pokémon TCG. But due to other financial priorities, I haven't been able to buy any cards in a while (last set I completed 100% was Neo: Destiny).
If I won the PowerBall, I'd definitely get back into the TCG. :/

Nintendo USA has done a great job with keeping Pokemon around since they took it over. Fahey, don't forget about the Pokemon Minis game coming out. The "judge" mini that is spun to make rules calls is hilarious.

Wow... the TCG is still going on?
Well I won't insult anyone who does still plays this, if you find it fun go ahead.
I never really understood the whole TCG though, I mean you have the actual games for competitions so a card-game based on a "battling RPG" seems kinda strange.
Especially with all of the new mechanics they've added in the latest generation, the competitive scene has a lot to it.

pokemon really needs to die. the first 151(including mewtwo) were cool because they were original back then and it was a fun game, even the card game didnt seem all that stupid as with yugi-oh. but now that there are several different card series, the names of pokemon has just gotten stupid. example, there's a new pokemon called Bidoof. i heard the term in a comic in EGM magazine and thought it was just a nerdy insult, but it turns out it's a racoon pokemon. how underthought are pokemon names when they start to insult themselves by simply having such a bad name? pokemon really needs to come out with a final series so it can go out with dignity and be remembered as a good series that had it's time instead of a series that humiliated itself in it's old age.

So, anyone willing to place a bet on how many Pokemon will be made before it all dies?

@Klappstuhl & @dslsd64:
Why?
Is pokemon somehow harming you? Or do you just hate it when people are having fun and enjoy something?
Honestly I don't see how this story or anything Pokemon-related could upset you so much that you would bother to post in here.
Many people like Pokemon, get use to it. How many Pokemon will be made until it just dies?
At about how many new weapons, classes, skills, are created in RPGs, in other words it will be a VERY long time until pokemon (which is still making Nintendo MILLIONS) will die and each new game brings more life into this series.
Seriously why do trolls like you two always come up in the Pokemon topics? Always citing how painful it is that such a franchise exists, as if it's choking the life out of you.
Is it apparently cool to tell everybody what you hate?
@soldier148:
Yeah, you shut up too. -_-;
I'm tired of hearing "the original 151 were better" and each time you people never actually make an argument other then "I remember back when" which is really nostalgia.
You sound like a bunch of old men going on about how everything back in your day was so great and better then now when really it all comes down to the fact that you have FOND memories of pokemon because like every other kid Pokemon was the crazy new thing to talk about.
Now you're older and of course less interested in pokemon, also having been out of the loop all of these new pokemon would seem strange and unusual to you because you are now an OUTSIDER peering into this, basically you are what your parents and every other adult were back when you were a kid and loved pokemon.
As for pokemon having strange names (an odd argument) being used as an argument to show the unoriginality of the game (ever heard of localization?) may I point you to these fellows from the original generation:
Rattata - OH SO CLEVER
Geodude - ?????
Arbok - See? It's "Cobra" backwards and with a "K"!
Seriously, sit back down old timer you don't know what you're talking about.

I'm sorry if multiple comments appear in this from me, but it seems Kotaku is either down or something else is wrong as my posts have not been appearing.
Basically this is a test post.

The TCG game for GameBoy Color (I think?) was awesome, even though it only consisted of like 20 cards. I played the shit out of that. So yes, with the money goldmine that Pokemon is, I honestly don't understand how another TCG video game hasn't been made.

@Mikazukinoyaiba: Ah the best generation was when it was in the GSC era. I was still in the semi-competitive scene back then. Good times I tell you. Good times. :3
