New Frontlines Map Appears On Xbox Live
Posted by Mike Fahey at 2:40 AM on June 24, 2008
The first of five new maps for THQ's Frontlines: Fuel of War has hit Xbox Live, available now for the low, low price of free. Boneyard features Western Coalition and Alliance forces facing off at a fully functional nuclear missile facility, which is sure to mean ensuing hilarity for all involved. The new map also features several new toys to play with, including the automatic shotgun, Red Star transport heli, and the enticingly named rocket jeep.
I was really hoping Frontlines would do better so I could use the Top Spot image above, but I think sharing a name with dog flea medication and a map called Boneyard is enough to run with it.

@Thassodar: Inferiority complex? :P I think so.
@Spl1nter: Eh, BFBC doesn't quite feel solid; Frontlines feels more like Battlefield than it does. :/

Well with Bad Company now there is no reason for this game to exist. Its to bad but it brought it upon its self.

Frontlines sucked ass. I'd rather play a game where you give a dog flea medication.

It is funny how the picture is getting more comment than the game.
I guess that either says very little about the game or a whole lot about the shear epic of the picture. I am voting for the later. ^_^

Come on THQ give the fans what they really want, a Neopets-based map.

Hmm... a game where you play a flea trying to start a sustainable colony on a moving dog.
The idea kinda has legs.

@Quazimojo: That's good to hear! I may go out after work and pick up a copy. I think the local Target is selling the PC version for $39.00.

@ThoughtStream: I have too. For some reason, I have been on the fence about buying this since the games release.

I haven't bothered to pick up the retail box for this game, but I thought the demo was excellent. It's just a very hard sell with Bad Company coming out. Are there enough people playing this on LIVE to justify grabbing it? Or are we all going to just ditch it for Battlefield?

I rented Frontlines, beat it rather easily, and then played a few maps over to get the achievement points for beating the maps without dying or within a certain time limit.
Overall, it was fun, but not a particularly memorable game. The vehicles are a lot of fun. The multiplayer can be great when more than a handful of people are playing, but it didn't seem like many people play it online still. It's a shame, because 32-player (if I remember correctly) online is really appealing.

my 360 has been bust for some time now and ive been to busy to get it fixed, but i bought frontlines at launch, and the last time i played it there were plenty of full servers.
thats servers. with 32 players. no host advantage, low pings for all in the states or europe. giant maps. vehicles everywhere. objective based gameplay. if we're talking console games, its pretty much my perfect fps. there are some real sweet gameplay concepts too, like remote drones and airstrikes etc. and NOW... free maps. stick that in your halo pipe and smoke it.

You probably spent more time photoshopping the photo together than actually writing the post ;) Always a good sign that you want your article to be the best it can be.

I love Frontlines, and this is coming from a guy who hates the Battlefield series.
I just got done playing the map a few times, and it was pretty neat. The map was nothing really special, other than an awesome victory cinema that happens when a round ends. What was really cool was the new auto-shotgun. That thing is fucking brutal.
I couldn't find the new rocket jeep, though.
