I don't know about this. The game comes out pretty soon, and boxart is already finalized. If Kratos was in the game they'd be dieing to show him off in addition to the Star Wars characters. I think this may be a late rumor.

If true though, and 360 gets another exclusive character, I'd think Ryu Hayabusa would be the most likely candidate.

I never liked the idea of Star Wars characters in Soul Calibur games, but I always thought that if they did guest characters like they did with Soul Calibur 2, Kratos would be a good fit. As for Microsoft, I really haven't been able to think of a character that would fit the Soul Calibur universe the way Link, Kratos, and at a stretch, Heihachi did, as well as being recognizably Microsoft. Spawn was a bit out there, as cool a character as he is and as good as he was in the game.

I'd like to see maybe the Agent from Crackdown, the title character from Odd World: Stranger's Wrath, or Lorne Lanning himself. Lorne Lanning fighting Yoda would be perfect.

Kratos would fit really well in SC4, kinda like an Ivy character. Just another tick towards getting the PS3 version, better D-pad on the PS3 is the big issue right now, but maybe I'll get around to making those arcade pads.

I think Frank West should be in the 360 version...he could use the plethora of weapons from Dead Rising the lawn mower, chainsaw, bats, katanas, etc. :) You Frank was meant to be a joke but that could really work. =)

The only potential problem I see with Kratos as a Soul Calibur 4 character is how
ricockulously imbalanced he would be.

Kratos should have been the PS3 version guest character in the first place. Not sure who could have been the Xbox 360 guest character, but Kratos fits in with the Soulcalibur universe MUCH better than Star Wars characters.

I'm not really against the Star Wars characters, but I don't really think they should of been included in the first place. Sure, Spawn, Link Heihachi didn't really fit in either, but at least they weren't from futuristic sci-fi universes with beam-swords.

The only good fights would be Astaroth (God), and Nightmare (being possessed by a blessed weapon).

@AlKusanagi: It's not that unfair a comparison. Kratos is a god-slaying swordsman based on Greek mythology. The Star Wars characters are from another galaxy and wield swords that can cut through just about anything. The former seems great for Soul Calibur, the latter is quite the stretch.

Probably not Ryu Hayabusa, although he would be a great fit, the franchise is owned by Tecmo.

Marcus Fenix is owned by Epic. Microsoft has the publishing rights for the Gears of War games, not the Intellectual Property.

God of War is developed and published by Sony, so I would assume the 360 character would have to be from a developer owned by Microsoft or from Microsoft Studios. Otherwise there would be alot of legal handshakes to get an established third party character involved.

My guess would be the Arbiter or Master Chief from Halo.

Wow. If this actually turns out to be true (and I find it hard to believe they'd keep something that could move copies so easily under wraps for so long), the Xbox version is screwed. Master Chief would be an even worse fit than the Star Wars characters and has already essentially been done by Dead or Alive with Nicole. Ryu Hayabusa can't be touched since he's already a mainstay of Dead or Alive.

What does that leave? Not Marcus Fenix, even ignoring the fact he'd be a horrid fit, chainsaw gun would either have a lousy moveset or be ridiculously powerful via gun shots. Spawn shouldn't return, end of story. Banjo and Joanna just seem silly. I sort of hope this rumor isn't true simply because of how bad the Xbox character will almost inevitably seem in comparison.

Also, why must there be version exclusives? I just found it annoying I couldn't play with every character in SC2, and I'd hate to be restricted again by including characters that couldn't possibly be eventually included in both versions via DLC.

Oh well. It is just a rumor for now, and while I don't have a PS3 I have to admit Kratos would be an awesome guest character.

as far as the xbox version if they are going with kratos then chances are they will be going with a character from a game actually made by microsoft as well. that would rule out ryu (though maybe tecmo needs the money? lol). So my guess then leads to master chief or marcus fenix which both IMO would pale in comparison to kratos. Honestly if i had a xbox 360 and wasn't getting the ps3 version for one reason or another i'd want banjo. The characters are in the game for fun. Leave the frivolous complaints at the door and enjoy. Also, this is IV, not II.

@Topic: Yeah, it's official, this might be the last main Soul Calibur game with the current cast, because Namco Bandai would truly be throwing everything they've got at this game by adding Kratos to the mix. If true, it would also further add to the curious nature of the many western characters making an appearance in a Japanese game. Not that I really mind,and not really something new upon recollection of SCII, but perhaps the Soul team is trying to appeal to a more foreign demographic with this installment.

Either way, Kratos would be a great addition. Unbalanced, but great. I wonder who will be in the 360 version? Also, Namco-Bandai needs to get their asses in gear and make a portable Soul Calibur game already. I'm sick of looking at Dark Resurrection.

Yeah, I called it. Kratos, the most bad ass of all video game characters, in a fighting game. I think I may need to sit down for a while.
If they get the original voice actor and a ridiculous plot about Kratos trying to claim the Soul Edge so he can rid himself of his nightmares, then this will be a day one purchase.

I don't think marcus or anyone like that would be a very good fit but anything can be done right if you put the effort into it. smashing people with there lancer (chainsaw machine gun) and stuff would be fun and using the chainsaw would be cool too.

Ryu hayabusa would be an excellent choice, tons of weapons to choose from (could have him switch between weapons or just pick any they liked). I think it'd be ace to inazuna drop people and stuff too. Here's hoping ryu will come.

I'd like to see Nriko and Kratos in the PS3 version just so they could fight eachother. If they were both on I'd definitely prefer PS3 version (since vader also beat Yoda).

I'm OK with it as long as there is an exclusive content balance between the systems. I thought Master Chief instantly for a 360 exclusive fighter having different energy swords, or maybe a variety of thing. Secondly, maybe 360 will have Spartan armor in the character creator. I'm hard pressed to think of another valid, non-shooter character that would qualify as representing 360. I think Kratos would be awesome, but it does make me a little jealous since I don't own a PS3.

I hope it's Yuri or Repede from Tales of Vesperia. Or maybe even someone like Jazz or Alegretto from Eternal Sonata. Those two are Xbox 360 Namco published RPG's. And those characters already kinda fit, with the swords and all.

If Namco were to do this, I'd be excited-- at the thought of Kratos' moveset and animation-- however, I'd be disappointed once I realized that this was supposed to be Soul Calibur IV.... the next iteration in an established fighting franchise, and not a party-action-mesh like Super Smash Brothers Brawl. I'd be 100% okay if this were an offshoot of the series with all these cameos, but geez, slow-down Namco... (if this rumor is true).

This is how it should have been from day one. I loved SC2 with the guest characters that actually matter, well Spawn was cool but you know what I mean.

The star wars guys make no sense. They have no ties to the console (except one is white the other is black, yoda & vader)
