I'm saying there are many FPS and shooting game generally praised for being good like Goldeneye, Halo, Gears of War, Counterstrike, etc. I'm saying Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 are being incredibly hyped even though Killzone 1 and the PSP Killzone were not critical successes. Resistance, on the other hand was well liked; I'm only stating MY opinion on this one as I consider myself as being someone who likes generally well liked games....(although I did like F.E.A.R...so maybe my point is moot).

Hmmm, colossal means big, and secret is something that hasn't been revealed. Considering that they haven't shown a boss yet and that they are supposed to be huge (according to Ted Price), I would wage a boss reveal.

Could the secret be that Nathan Hail (that's his name right) isn't really dying but is slowly changing into a Kymera (I'm sure that's not how it's spelled) and the epic secret is that you will play as one (ala Cyclone ) off of earth on the enemies home turf (or on a mothership).

No offense to any Console Warriors here, but why does anyone care about Resistance 2 and Killzone 2? The original Killzone, billed as a "Halo-killer" was very generic and mediocre. Resistance was just as boring.

My guess at what the colossal secret is? One of four things:

1) They will reveal the 300 foot tall giant boss they hinted at on GT.TV

2) They will reveal that home beta will ship with Resistance

3) They will reveal that the game runs in full 1080p at 200 fps

4) Vadar will be a playable character :3

Yeah, I assume this is an announcement of Shadow of the Colossus 2. The article didn't seem to make any direct connection that the secret was about Resistance 2. And we already saw that screenshot of a project the SOTC team was working on a few months ago and stories that they were making "a sequel." My money is on SOTC 2.

Is the "colossal" secret in reference to Resistance 2? If so, I don't particularly care what it is (Resistance is good, but not earth-shatteringly so).

If "colossal" refers to something else, though; say, a new Shadow of the Colossus game, then I would be beyond joyful. SotC wasn't just one of the best games I've ever played, it was one of the best pieces of art that I've ever had the joy to experience.

People ate the hype and are super excited for a game that has no reason to be good at all except for the fact that it seems to have good graphics. That's all they're going on. Killzone 1 = generic mess, Killzone 2 "WE HAVE KILLZONE 2 PREPARE TO DIE HALO 3! OMG CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!"

There is absolutely no reason for anyone to be excited for it other than the graphics.

Resistance was actually a lot of fun, and it didn't hurt that it was a launch title that didn't suck, which helped it stand out more.

Killzone had plenty of issues. Being generic wasn't one of them. The atmosphere and world in Killzone were amazing. The biggest issue that Killzone had was that Guerilla pushed the PS2 way beyond its capabilities. There was a good game there, it was just obscured by severe technical problems. Oh, and Sony never said anything about Killzone being a "Halo killer." You can thank the gaming press for that little nugget of idiocy.

As far as Killzone 2 is concerned, don't forget that many members of the press have played the game. And a vast majority of them have come away impressed not just by the visuals, but by the gameplay as well. Liberation was a good game. I'm hoping that KZ2 will be as well.

And yeah, Resistance was a blast.

And of course Sony isn't coming out and saying, "Halo killer we have." Why would they do that? The big 3 don't work like that. When has anyone ever done that?

Sony released FPS footage out of nowhere at E3, "Prepare to be amazed! This is real time, we swear! Behold the power of PS3 and what games should, and will, be!"

As far as people from the press being able to see/play KZ2, anything can be fun for 15 minutes. Besides, have you ever seen a negative preview? Most previews are positive, and that's something everyone knows and hates previews for. "The game seems to be solid fun and is shaping up nicely" can become "This is a generic mess. You've played this game before. Nothing original. 5/10" in a review by the same publication.

So, I stand firm at "There is absolutely no reason for anyone to be excited for it other than the graphics."
