Wii owners should be informed that Rock Band is a very gimped version compared to it's HD brothers. Rock Band Wii is basically a PS2 port without downloadable content, online play and song creation mode. These are all features that the upcoming Guitar Hero World Tour for the Wii will have, with the option of saving DLC to an SD card. I've also read the instruments of GHWT are slightly superior with velocity sensitive drums and the guitar with touchpad neck. It seems Activision/VV is putting a lot more effort into the Wii release than Harmonix is. I'm not so much into these kind of games personally, I prefer real music production, but if I were to pick one it'd be easy to choose.

Out of the list, Tactics and Operation Darkness are the ones that catch my fancy the most. Beyond those there isn't much in my opinion.

After reading up on Kane's Wrath for the PC, I felt severely disappointed and very angry with EA for what they've done to a once proud franchise. Factions? What the hell. C&C does not do factions.

I'm rocked out and have got no Heroic-ness left to spare for the music genre. Plus - I really don't want to get into Bad Company, yet it'll be one of the next big hits because it's 1. War and 2. Shooting.

The Chimp game looks dumb, I beat Overlord....twice (on two systems no less), movie games generally suck (Iron Man?), Tennis is not my bag annnnnd I've been Mega Manned to death.

Care not for Naruto and Deadliest Catch either.

That leaves Alone in the Dark and Supreme Commander. I'd like to try both but beyond that there isn't much else I want with them. AitD got "ok" reviews and SC wasn't a major hit on PC...

Heh, Rock Band Wii has been out in Owings Mills, MD for a couple of days now. The Wal-Mart there let it out too early. I'm sure big fines are awaiting them. I had a customer call and ask if we had it a couple of days ago and I told her we had it but couldn't put it out until the 22nd. That's when she told me that the Owings Mills store already had it out and asked me what would happen if somebody found out. I told her they would be fined and have to pull it from the shelves but then made sure that she knew that I had no intentions of calling them to let them know that they were violating a street date.

Technically, GH: Aerosmith shouldn't be part of this week, if you're going from Sun. to Sat. If it's from Mon. to Sun. then I guess that would work, but then you'd miss Rock Band Wii & GH: On Tour DS. Upon hearing this bad news of this new version of RB, I definitely won't get Rock Band for the Wii. Besides, there's other games I've been wanting to play anyway, like Boom Blox & Mario Kart Wii. I've already played some of Mario Kart's single & multi player, but I want to play online, especially for free downloadable tracks! Also, I want to track down a copy of Beyond Good and Evil for either the PS2 or the Cube for the Game Club Kotaku is doing on July 1st.

I'll be leaving home on Friday for a month and a half so I'll be stocking up on DS games. On Tour looks good enough to warrant a purchase, and IGN gave it a very good review. I'll probably pick up Space Invaders Extreme as well, although that isn't one of the games that comes out this week. Bad Company looks fun, Alone in the Dark looks pretty bad, and I already have Rock Band on PS3 so there's no reason to buy the crippled version for my Wii.

Yeah... sorry Harmonix, I might have gotten it if it were the same as the 360 version and were cheaper due to it coming out so late for the Wii, but you guys just made no effort at all with this so no thanks. I'll be picking up FFTA2. I played through a good portion of War of the Lions on the PSP, but some of the now-archaic design and the slow-down were a turn off. While FFTA2 likely won't have a story equal to the first FFT, I'm sure that the gameplay will be much better.

I'm pretty torn. If anything I can only get one game this weeek (maybe even month) and BF:BC plays like a fucking charm, but everything about it's DLC makes me cringe. I feel like if I purchase this game then I'm just part of some EA public test as to how far they can go and still have gamers buy their DLC.

However Alone In The Dark looks really really sweet, but I feel like it's not a game that is worth the purchase, but it would be well worth a rent.

Christ, I may actually have to look at releases in the next month or two before I make a decision.

Activision maybe an asshole for many, but all things consider, they are still better than Harmonix, especially for Wii player.

First, they decide to completely diss Wii even when it was sold like hotcakes, and then when they finally decide to port one, they decide to copy what the EA does and just straight up port a heavily gimped PS2 version.

Compare to Activision, who even GH3 allows online play mode, and then they allow Wii owners to have as much features as the other 7th gen consoles? Sorry, Harmonix, I am going to wait for my GHWT.

I agree with most of the posters here. If you haven't already bought it, skip out on Rockband Wii. It's completely gimped. If you don't already have Rockband for the 360 / PS3 just wait for GH:WT. Then at least you won't have to complain about space for plastic instruments when (at least, for the Wii) a much better game comes out.
