Valve Gives A Peek Into TF2's Head On New Site
Posted by Leigh Alexander at 7:20 AM on June 21, 2008
The populists at Valve have a new blog just for the Team Fortress 2 community, and explain:
Our hope is that we'll be providing you with a variety of interesting things to read, whether you're a hardcore TF2 player or whether you've just started. We'll be going into the details behind some of the gameplay, posting a bunch of the concept art we haven't released before, and showcasing the great content the community is creating.
Ooh! Up now is concept art for the flare gun, showing the different ideas that were considered before gameplay made the final decision. Watch that space, then, for more behind-the-scenes peeks.

Awesome.
It looks like they started with Boba Fett's rifle as inspiration.

I really want them to announce some relaunch update for the 360, with some of those community maps, and that other map they made, i'd love to see the weapons too.
I mean yeah these things cost money, so I wouldn't even mind seeing adverts like in 1.6
Please Valve I really want others to get interested in the game, but I struggle because of the lack of maps etc.

Whoever is working Team Fortress 2's art department is doing a damn fine job, I simply love the style applied to everything they do.

If only they put an RSS feed with this page. Then I (and others) would be able to know about any new posts.

this is pretty interesting. if you go do a google image search for 'flare gun' you can see some of the reference shots they must have used to design these.

@flukielukie: LOL @ console FPS games. Im glad Valve has the sense enough to keep the PC people happy, what with every other developer going out of its way to please console dipshits which in turn ruins gaming as a whole.

@mferrari:
Isn't the reason they haven't ported the medic and pyro, and whoever else to 360 is because they want to have it be free, but the XBL dudes wont let them?

@Rajolae: That is an ignorant comment.
There are things which console FPSes does correctly, and then there's things which PC FPSes does correctly. Both have their inadequacies and their strengths. To say that either one is superior is ignorant and totally biased to it's origins without any regard for the genre's evolution.

Who cares about a blog? It doesn't matter for me, because I don't get updates on 360. Please Valve, just tell us that you'll package everything after all the character updates, or in 2 years, just let us know that there is hope.
PRITY PLZ!

I'm tired of not being able to play pyro because of class limits and douchebags wanting achievements!

@Rajolae: Hey fuck you buddy. Whats wrong with giving everybody a chance to play great games. Dont be a pc snob, and dont forget that us console tards help to fund the developers making your pc games too
