A Wii Wheel With Stand
Posted by Brian Ashcraft at 9:00 PM on July 3, 2008
Know what that the Wii Wheel is missing? Something to ground it. The wheel's not attached to anything, so using it to play Mario Kart Wii hardly feels realistic (not that Mario Kart Wii is the apex of realism, but still). Japanese peripheral company JTT has a solution: The Wii Handle Controller Stand. Simply attach the Wii-mote to this peripheral steering wheel, which can then be mounted on the stand. The stand offers 120 degrees of movement, and the stand has suction cups to keep it in place. In theory sounds pretty nice -- wonder how it plays.

Wouldn't work. You need to shake the wheel to do tricks and avoid POW blocks. So securing it in place prevents you from doing this.

@Gunloc: Oh, and on another note, a Flight Yoke would be >PERFECT< to play F-Zero Wii.
Nintendo, are you reading?

I ditched the wheel for mariokart a while ago, its the the remote and nunchuk for me. All I have to worry about now are POW blocks and blue shells

@Gunloc: But we need GOOD arcade flight sims on the Wii. The only two worth mentioning are "Heatseeker" and "Blazing Angels", but theyre far from perfect.
Perfection should arrive with Namco's "The Sky Crawlers". Hopefuly, a proper Ace Combat will arrive at a later date.
Then, yes, id consider buying a fligh yoke for my Wiimote.

Nooo! It's another one of these wii wheel stands :( Somebody could gut a powerwheel gokart and use it as a wiimote stand and it wouldnt make a bit of difference. This is because Nintendo never ment the wheel to be attached to a stand. Still this could make a good flight yoke... No I'm falling into this trap again! Im such a sucker for wiimote attachments :p

My problem with these wheels is that the designers always seem to forget that Wii games that are wheel comaptible need the hability to "jump", I mean, pull it up or shake it to attack.
These whelles are useless to play "Excite Truck", "Mario Kart Wii" and, most of all, the very underrated "Speed Racer".
A+ for effort, but they need to go back to the drawing board with these.

I think there's more to a steering wheel being realistic than nailing it to the table. Force feedback, pedals, gears changing thingie.
