Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise Date And Details
Posted by Leigh Alexander at 8:20 AM on July 4, 2008
Oh, so here's a release date for the Xbox 360 Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise! September 5th is when the follow-up in the candy-filled franchise hits — and it strikes me, you know, what an odd idea! Who'd have ever thought that reviving fandom for piñatas, that semi-relic toy we used to bash as candy-crazed youngsters (you don't really see 'em anymore, huh?) would make such a decent idea for a gardening/breeding/life sim?
Anyway, Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise adds 30 new piñata species, more co-op and gameplay modes, and the official announcement promises that Piñata Island has gotten even bigger. Crecente had a look at it recently and found that it seems to tone up what could've been seen as problem zones in the original.
Full details after the jump!
Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise Release Date and New Details Revealed
Green thumbs and animal-loving gamers rejoice with the return of their favourite candy-filled creatures, hits shelves on 5th September
LONDON - 3rd July 2008 - Roarios and Tigermisus and Fizzlybears, OH MY! Microsoft today announced that "Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise" will be released and on store shelves by 5th September. With more than 30 additional new piñata species, expanded co-op options and multiple gameplay modes, "Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise" offers limitless fun for every animal-lover in the family.
Piñata Island has gotten bigger too! Now players can explore wild areas outside of the garden where they will need to bait and retrieve exotic piñata species who won't venture into the garden on their own.
Put on your mittens and snow shoes as you brave the cold of the Pinartic where you'll find piñatas that prefer cooler temperatures and the occasional blizzard, like Pengums and Polollybears. Or you can shed the layers and head to the sands of the Dessert Desert, where Camellos and Jameleons bask in the arid sun.
All of these new exotic piñatas will not venture into your garden willingly, so you'll need to bait and retrieve them yourself. But you can make them feel at home right away by adding patches of snow or sand to your garden, similar to how you add grass and water.
Available exclusively on Xbox 360, "Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise" reinvigorates a colourful and engaging gaming experience. Now with full cooperative gameplay modes and various approachable difficulty settings, the "Viva Piñata" franchise opens its doors even wider with a new game that provides hours of fun for gamers of all ages, fans of the animated series and animal lovers alike.

I'm not sure if I really want to let Viva Pinata suck up so much of my time. Again. Oh, who am I kidding. I'll pick this up on release day, especially if it's only $40 like what that rumor stated.

@Krondonian: I only played about eight hours of the first, and I remember it being kind of greyish and overgrown in the very, very beginning-- before you clean up your little parcel of land-- but nothing like that. I think your assumption of that being the titular Trouble is probably a fair one.

I just bought Viva Pinata about 2 weeks ago and love it! It's probably the most beautiful game on the Xbox. Such awesome graphics.

@wild homes is weathering cephalopod trouble!: If it was any other game I'd kill that monstrosity, no questions asked.
I didn't play the first, so this may be stupid...but why is the background completely grey? Or is that just the effect of the 'Trouble' in Paradise?

Well, never played the original one aside from the Live demo, so, uh...cool for the people who like that kind of stuff, I guess!

Hopefully the co-op doesnt consist of using one cursor like the first one and hopefully your allowed to destory friends pinata's and hard earned stuff. Nothing like pissing off a friend to make a game great :D

I think my one complaint about the original was that the earth flattening/digging system was a bit tedious and repetitive. If they've fixed that for this one I'll definitely get it.
I wonder if they'll give any achievement points for incessant incitement to incest this time...

I want to know what does full co-op means, does it mean that two players can manage one garden at the same time, like one player growing trees while at the same time the other player is digging a hole. Is this full co-op going to be available on xbox live or off line or both.

I find that gas mask disturbing.
Like a brightly coloured version of the monsters from that Dr. Who episode. Or Nazi Germany. Or war in general, really.
I'm kinda having a hard time making that out to look fun, and hell, I live in Britain, a long way from where, today, people still have to put these things on now and then.
Odd game design, that. It'd be like having a game where there are a bunch of black-and-white mimes and clowns, and when you lure them into the 'garden' with a bunch of dolls-that-look-like-children-but-are-actually-robots, they all become brightly coloured and animated and pretty, and you can run around killing them with a giant knife.
No, scratch that, I'd buy that game.
Maybe more like The Simulacra: War Criminals, where you can run your own little Camp X-Ray and torture people until you get "the truth" out of them; get enough "truth" and you can buy stuff to upgrade with. Kind of like Dungeon Keeper, but you need to hide all of the torture equipment from the journalists who occasionally wander through, like the heroes in Evil Genius.
Hmm, no, scratch that, I'd buy that game too.
Ok, so it's more like...
I don't know. All of the comparisons I can make end up being games I'd buy, which is obviously different, because I won't be buying this one.
