@Archaotic: You're right. Bungie's pretty much consulting on it. Maybe you'd even say they're executive-producing it. But they're not making it.

I think this is going to be where we discover Pimps at Sea wasn't just a placeholder title. It's going to be sweet, sweet pirate combat at its best. Man oh man, that would be so much better than Halo.

Anyone else get the Bungie Day stuff online? All of it features a significant dearth of anything related to Halo, and these really odd gamer picks certainly seems that there is a new IP. I just hope it isn't lame as hell, because a plumber IS lame.

Do we know where the new music on the podcast is from? Sounds pretty old school. I wouldn't be suprised if their announcement was something Live Arcade related (possibly, PSOnline or WiiWare, I suppose).

Plus, it's WAAAY too early for another Halo announcement. Halo Wars is in the works, Halo 3 just came out last year...I dunno, maybe it will be something bigger in scope...the Peter Jackson project...who knows...

@NitrousO: Podcasts are all really long. A number of game podcasts I used to download go for 3 hours! It's basically like listening through a morning radio show but it's geeks hanging out and semi-regularly talking about video games.

Of course, I probably wouldn't listen to 5 minutes of Halo talk myself but you know.

I think there's a chance it will be a third-person game of some sort, considering that's what Halo was originally supposed to be. Who knows? Whatever it is, I trust that it will be good.

On topic, Bungie has hinted that they have at least two things in the works before, so I wouldn't be surprised if a new Bungie project is Microsoft's trump card at the E3 presser. It will probably be a new IP, so I'm excited to see what they come up with. The Peter Jackson Halo project could also be officially revealed (which is rumored to be a 3rd-person tactical shooter).

Either way, I'm excited.

They sent us free early access to the H3 beta, they keep us informed, they provide huge resources and stats for enjoying their games, they listen closely and try to respond to fan feedback (with changes or explanations, depending) and whether you like H3 or not, the value for most online players on that disc for your $60 is beyond just about everything else put out.

If you've never poked around in your stats (or anyone else's) on Bungie.net, it's well worth the visit. I know I am unapologetic fanboy of theirs but they have so earned my loyalty over the years. (Halo 2 ending aside, though I blame MS for the time pressure for that more than Bungie.)

i dont know if anyone else knows how the superintendent thing came to be, (The green guy in the pic). but i going out on a limb and going with a sqaud based shooter, (you and three buddies in co-op)set in a WALL-e style setting, earth is over polluted, humanity on the brink, ruins every where, and then a bunch of robots used to try and clean the earth go rouge, and you have to use what little resources there is to fight them off and save humanity, or possibly escape into space via the last remaing ships on earth all grouped in single location. I could see massive weapon costumization with the garbage and scraps you can find in the rubble, awesome cover system, armor custimization , and interactive enviroments, traps, and really cool puzzle elements. That is what bungies next game could be, but i have not a name for this idea.

@ninja_warrior: I think this will be a new IP as well. As I remember Bungie saying they want a break from Halo for a while. Not sure for the whole multiplatform thing though. Bungie did say they're happy with MS as of the moment. Though it just might be PR speak but I think they'll release their next game on the 360 or it could possibly be a DS game...Hmm maybe it's Halo DS revived?

So many crazy things this could mean. Halo 3 is still such a viable platform, and it is bungie day today so it seems like a logical amount of time to announce something. (Still some steam from people who just revisited Halo 3 for the free maps.)

I'd rather see their new game, but I would have thought MS would have saved that for E3 since they lost a lot of steam due to the recent leak.
