Comic-Con: We've Arrived
Posted by Brian Crecente at 8:40 AM on July 24, 2008
Comic-Con may not officially start until tomorrow but the wheels of big Comic business are already rolling. This afternoon alone we met with folks from several publishers and developers to check out upcoming projects. Stay tuned later tonight for McWhertor's reports from the San Diego Convention Center.
He'll be covering all things video game related over the next five days, bringing you details from the show floor, live blogs from Comic-Con panels and all the news that breaks from Capcom, EA, Activision, Konami and much, much more.
For those attending, let us know in the comments what Sailor Moon character you'll be dressed as.

Bungie going to announce their next game? By the way, I am going to be asking this at every expo, conference, and gathering till they do.

@zer0zen: I would definitely go to a Kotaku meetup in San Diego, although it might be late to organize something formal.

@Brian Crecente: If there's a group of you Kotaku folks in San Diego, you should totally do another Kotaku meetup at a bar or someplace. I'm bummed I missed your E3 shindig.

@Aviator: A larger venue then?
If you want the industry to have growth than I'm certain that limiting the amount of people who can attend the flagship trade show wouldn't be the most shrewd of moves.

@mwoody:
Hate to tell you, but we'll probably see preregistering only from here on out. The convention is getting ridiculously crowded now, and there's a finite number of people allowed due to safety regulations.

You guys were having withdrawals after E3 and needed a quick fix huh? I would've liked to see some California Gift show action, but Comics will do! *folds arms*

Hunh, I live in San Diego and had always intended on going one day this year, but couldn't nail down my schedule to know exactly when. And now I discover that they've closed registration and will have no on-site memberships. Wow. Here's hoping this bites them on the ass so they don't do it next year, but I tend to doubt it. Ah well; the dealer room was the only thing I found worth waiting in line for, anyway.

Yo McWhertor! I posted this in the other article, but here it is again...
Stop by our gaming room at comic-con if you feel like taking a break from all the hectic comic-con stuff.

We'll be next to Konami's Metal Gear Online room and have some playable games that aren't out yet (fighters :P )

@PatMan33: I can just see Marvel up there: "Hey guys, we make X-Men books and they appeal to a female demographic." Or DC saying it's new hero that has 3 retractable blades on their fists is completely original. Or even Dark Horse coming out with that Star Wars book about the Jedi Academy, announced years ago, will come out soon and ask us for patience.

Damn, I've always wanted to go to Comic-Con. Besides being a nerd mecca, I'm sure somebody there would be interested in buying E-Man #1, 2, and 3 for more than I payed. Just because it's a "cult classic" doesn't mean someone will actually pay for it anymore. Christ, why do I even have these? I might as well be in possession of Nazi youth propaganda. At least I know where to go in town to sell that.
Alright, end of pointless unnecessary despair and Nazi talk. Happy posts from here on today! Join me: Yay, etc.

I hope we'll see some CDV coverage of Sacred 2 on here. This game looks like an awesome ARPG / Diablo clone, but is hardly getting any attention on this side of the pond. _________________________________________________________________

@liqideos: Although I've heard rumors of this happening every year for the past ten years, I was told by some of their staff that they have a contract with the San Diego Convention Center until 2012.
