Alpha Protocol Filled With Sexy Spy Sex
Posted by Mike Fahey at 11:20 AM on July 25, 2008
Obsidian Entertainment's Alpha Protocol isn't just similar to BioWare's Mass Effect in terms of interface, font, design, gameplay, and graphics - it's also got a sexy side. Agent Michael Thorton will have a bevy of ladies at his disposal throughout his mission, and depending on how he treats them he could very well get lucky with some, if not all the lovely ladies.
"It all depends on how you treat them," Rucinski said. If you have a strong relationship with female characters, they may help with missions. However, he told me that some of them are "bats-t insane" and can get you into trouble. "One may ask you to assassinate a high-level person," he added. "Maybe that's not something you want to do, but she's really hot. But there are obvious repercussions."
See? These are the sorts of decisions guys named Michael have to deal with every day. We don't want to kill, but the ladies are so hot! Alpha Protocol will let players get busy with women via Mass Effect style cutscenes, with achievements for being a total manslut as well as just saying no repeatedly. Achievements for having sex? Fox is going to have a field day.

This post reminds me of this movie that someone linked to recently:
+ Watch video
I'm not super PC or anything, but saying "some women are "'bat shit insane'" is kind of fucked up!
This is one of the reasons why a lot of people still maintain that "oh, you play video games... you must be a nerd" attitude--because sexuality in games feels like it's written by bitter losers.
Mass Effect treated relationships pretty well, but Alpha Protocol seems to be the middle-school version.

@Nirotu: It's kind of unfair to say that, as in James Bond created a whole new genre of fiction.
There's no difference between that and saying ME is a rip off of Star Wars.
DAMNIT! MUST STAY ON TOPIC!! This will be good if the sex is integrated in a tasteful manner, and not just an excuse to show tits.

I'm still pissed that there's no male-Shep x Kaidan stuff in ME. If this game follows the same route, don't expect anything in terms of guy on guy.

Hopefully it has the same full digital nudity and sex that leaves nothing to the imagination that Mass Effect had.
Seriously though, I doubt it will be anything to shake a torch at.
Though no doubt some will...

Why not go the Mass Effect route with every single aspect of the game?

Everything about this game seems so uninspired, including the generic title. Not saying the lack of originality means the game will be bad, but it doesn't exactly get me excited either.

After reading the preview I admit I'm a bit amped to try it out. It's not everyday you get to play an RPG in a modern setting and with a military twist.
Hmm maybe Obsidian wants Bioware to buy 'em out?

@Thorax: Not even no gay sex for men, but not even heterosexual sex for women. And somehow we're supposed to convince people the medium isn't just pandering to adolescent boys (or men with the mentality of adolescent boys), when flag-bearing titles (and the ones that rip them off) perpetuate this myopic nonsense.

...One month later:
"Oh my GOD! A peaceful world leader has been shot! Why would you do this?!?"
"I didn't want to I swear!"
"But you're a spy/assassin for our country? Was your brother kidnapped? Is your girlfriend being held hostage? Were you brainwashed and tortured until they could plant a post-hypnotic suggestion into your brain?"
"Ummm... Yes?"

@icegoat: I know, because I totally love judging a game and its graphics 6 months before its release.
Jeebus people will bitch about anything.
On that note, Obsidian rocks and the stories in their games are consistently better than their Bioware originals (incompleteness of Kotor2 notwithstanding, based on what I know of what they cut, and what they left in, that game could have been very amazing).
So, high hopes for this game, as I loved Mass Effect
