Kotaku Originals: ピシング・マッチ
Posted by Owen Good at 12:00 AM on July 27, 2008
Updated: That headline means "pissing match" in Japanese, according to commenter stargateheaven. But in any language, the Itagaki-Tecmo split got beyond bad-breakup nasty this week. Itagaki wants his money back, Tecmo's heaving shit out the front door. Just bad. And like giggling gossiping schoolkids we intercepted much of the paperwork and read it aloud to you, class. So we'll lead with those highlights and give you much more on the jump.

Only time I ever bother listening to anything Itagaki has to say is when he's talking about a game in development. Otherwise, I just don't care...

@floppylobster:
And 'ko' means small, yes?
Chinpoko 'penis small'
Now what does 'mon' translate to? I'm hoping that it's 'have', so that saying 'chinpokomon' is essentially a chiasmic way of telling somebody exactly how big you think they are.

Ha Ha! Translate that!
(Chinpo is slang for penis)

@floppylobster:
If you wanted to say it literally, I guess it would be
"contest to determine whom is able to urinate the furthest distance, thereby proving their superiority".
The actual meaning behind the phrase is implicit.

And you can always use -
"Pissing match" wa dou iu imi desu ka?

Two questions I want answered:
1. Where is this man going to work?
2. Is Team Ninja going to be disbanded, merged with any other teams or will they walk out like we've seen some teams doing it lately?

I don't know if pishingu macchi really counts as "pissing match in Japanese". Sure they use a lot of loan words, but that doesn't mean you can write everything in Katakana and say it's Japanese. A Japanese person might have no idea what you're talking about. It's more like an English phrase said in Japanese. Like speaking with a really heavy accent. Pishingu Macchi.
