64 Percent of Those Polled Gave Up Wii Fit
Wii Fit has done big business in Japan — and pretty much everywhere, for that matter. The peripheral and game went on sale late last year in The Land of the Rising Sun, and Japanese website IT Media poses the question: Do Wii Fit owners actually still play Wii Fit everyday? Short answer: Nope. According to the thousand IT Media readers polled (for whatever that's worth), the majority of them do not play their copies of Wii Fit (ditto). Here's the breakdown:
Do you use Wii Fit faithfully everyday?
• 22 percent — I record my progress faithfully everyday
• 6 percent — Maybe once every two or three days
• 6 percent — Once a week
• 64 percent — Stopped using after purchase
Like any exercise program, most people quite early on. Guess it's good that even 22 percent are sticking with it, but still. Any Wii Fit owners out there? Do you use Wii Fit faithfully everyday?

In the immortal words of Detective Spooner (film I, Robot)- "I told you so just doesn't quite say it".
Now we wonder if the Balance Board goes to Console Peripheral hell (R.O.B.) or heaven (GT Driving Force Wheel). I'm hoping that devs get with the balance board and crank some good games for it and I don't even own a Wii! Just seems like a cool control idea that should be supported.
crashlanding
I plan on buying it, strictly for a scale that tracks my weight and BMI. Ninety bucks for an electronic weight tracking system seems reasonable, and as many others in the thread have said, it's a hit with the non-gaming crowd (girlfriend and her friends) who view it as the unofficial Wii Sports sequel.
Jonaconda
I think the other 22 percent just haven't hit the point where they say fuck this.
uber_fragger
I've had mine for six weeks. I did the exercises on it for a couple of weeks. Nowadays though, I use it mainly to weigh myself and keep track of my running time or DDR time. I do the actual exercises on it maybe once a week or when I'm showing it to a friend. Part of me wants to sell it, but I'm waiting to see what other balance board games are coming...
chiefeagle02
I don't use mine everyday, probably about twice a week.
evilonion
I got my copy finally a week a go and have faithfully recorded my progress for five days now, we'll see how it goes after I've unlocked everything.
jcbuckle_hachey
I've been using my WiiFit for 40 days, and I've NEVER stuck with other exercise of any sort every day ever since I got out of school (where they made me do it, and that was only every other day). And I've always been normal weight or under. I just HATE exercise. I've never stuck with any other gadget either.
But this doesn't feel like exercise, it's like... gasp... a video game. Until I notice I've lost weight and am more flexible and stronger, which leads me to conclude it is in fact exercise.
Also, I pwn the husband at several of the activities, which doesn't happen in sports. :D
22% every day is a huge amount compared to the % of people who stick with other programs.
Evil Tortie's Mom
to all those who gave up on wii fit: why don't you send it to me? i'm still looking for one. :)

"I have a personal problem paying moolah on crap I can do for free."
Funny. I can sit in front of my TV and push buttons on my controller for free too. But guess what, the right software makes those same actions quite a bit more interesting and rewarding. Wouldn't you say? I know it's a crazy thought, but might the same be true of Wii Fit?
subnet6
I saw this one coming, however I hoped it might change things. I guess no matter what form you put exercise in people just won't stick with it.
Ryodestined
@rdcarvallo: Right, unlike all the new, innovative FPS's coming out for the other consoles.
Interstella5555
@rdcarvallo:
Lol, you don't know what you're talking about.
Mario Kart Wii (NOTHING NEW)
Maybe not in the way of levels, but the gameplay has changed quite a bit especially with the addition of the motorcycles and 12 players. You cant play Mario Kart Wiithe same way you played MK 64 or MK DS. Maybe if you played the game you'd know that.
Legend of Zelda: TP (GAMECUBE)
Yeah, but that doesn't have motion controls. And that didn't say anything about the quality of the game itself, which is superb.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (NOTHING NEW)
This one had me laughing the hardest. You clearly are trolling on this one. Ever play SSB64 or SSBM? They're nothing like this one. If you can't see that then yoo obviously haven't played the game.
Metroid Prime 3 (POINTER PLAY...)
Play it, maybe then you'll know what the hell you're talking about.
Boom Blox (NEW, HYPED)
So what if it's hyped?
Okami (PS2)
But with better controls on the Wii. Let's not forget the fact that it sold poorly on the PS2, so for many people this would be the first time playing it.
Mario Strikers Charged (NOTHING NEW)
Maybe not in the way of it being a new IP. But once again if you would actually play the games you're talking about instead of just commenting on them you'd realize you're wrong. This game is quite different from its previous installment on the gamecube.
All in all, you have shown no credibility in your analysis of these games and moreso haven't even argued my statement that these are good games. Good job wasting my time.
NeoAkira
I'm a Wii owner who actually excercises- wothout spending money. I have a personal problem paying moolah on crap I can do for free. I run, do sit-ups and push-ups, stretch, pull-ups, and a few other things- and guess what, I'm in great shape. It's easy and free.
If it works for you than that's great. I'm not getting down on people who buy it, it's just not for me.
krushjudgement
@Bluetribal: Agreed, but I still try to play every day.
AndrewG009
@NeoAkira: Your list of Wii games:
Super Mario Galaxy (NEW GAMEPLAY)
Mario Kart Wii (NOTHING NEW)
Legend of Zelda: TP (GAMECUBE)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (NOTHING NEW)
Resident Evil 4 (GAMECUBE AND PS2)
Metroid Prime 3 (POINTER PLAY...)
Zack and Wiki (NEW)
No More Heroes (NEW)
Boom Blox (NEW, HYPED)
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (??)
Okami (PS2)
DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (PS2)
Super Paper Mario (NEW)
Mario Strikers Charged (NOTHING NEW)
Trauma Center (NEW)
From it, at most 6 of them have something new or interesting..

@Thono_Sakurai:
You're joking right? you'd deride someone's games of choice because you're too narrow minded to enjoy a few video games? Grow the fuck up and try not to be such a worthless, troll-like presence on this site and then we'll talk. :D
NeoAkira
You could probably say the same about the Wii altogether. I'm not saying nobody plays it, but I hear a lot of people say they stopped.
RaepGoblin
Does anyone know when the new shipment is? It's been sold out of my area since it's been out, and I didn't get it when it launched because I was on vacation when it broke out.
Dragoona
wait, is anyone surprised by all this...?
Solidsky
Alarmist crap. I don't always have time to do a full regiment everyday but I do my best to at least do a body test everyday. I like the game and it was everything I expected it to be.
I'm NOT a workout nut and never will be and this game actually puts together a framework which will allow me to exercise and NOT quit.
I'm slim and always have been (except for this slight little pudge around my belly which came out of nowhere recently. seriously where did this thing come from?! Hahaha!) I didn't get it to lose weight but rather just to see how it worked and if it lived up to the hype. In my opinion it does.
Health is NOT necessarily about being a certain size but being active and able to keep your systems functioning properly. Losing weight matters in some aspects but the best thing I discovered about the game is you can tailor the exercises around what kind of routine you want for yourself. To improve flexibility or to build your muscles or to improve your coordination or whatever.
I know good and well that without all this game backdrop I could never sustain these kinds of activities for long on my own. The inclusion of a center of balance reading adds new dimension to the exercises which make Wii Fit not so much a gimmick as people make out. Before you would just do the motions by themselves but here you see how effective your performance of those motions are based on the balance.
And I HAVE improved by playing this game. It is REAL exercise. I was absolutely pathetic with the push-ups at first and now even though I'm still pretty pathetic I can do more than I used to when I started. And I feel my muscles strengthening. I think playing Wii in general with Wii Sports & Wii Fit has improved my stamina if nothing else.
Like someone else said, this is more a reflection of the people more than anything. It's designed to give you what you put into it. The biggest thing is time. Sometimes you don't have enough time to give it your full attention. That's why I'm thankful for the daily Body Test.
The job I work is pretty active anyway & I do a lot of walking (hours of it constantly) so I'm always adding this information into my activity log. Since getting this game I find myself bending my knee a little more into my step when I walk to work all the leg muscles. I practice balancing on one foot here and there when having to stand in one place for a long period. I'm just more aware of my body than I used to be before I got it.
Everybody's not going to be into this and some people bought it out of curiosity or because of getting caught up in the hype. But those who appreciate this game will get a lot out of it. Nintendo did a good job on this one...like always.
BMI was probably a mistake to use, though, due to inaccuracies with muscle and fat recognition.
John Lucas
johnlucas
I still use mine. I don't always have time to go through a full routine every day, but I weigh myself if nothing else. I'm losing weight, too. (I didn't need it badly, but I could stand to lose a few pounds.)
StAidan
I gave up on Brain Age 1 and 2, so I won't be buying stuff like this anytime soon unless it's a FPS Trainer or something like that.
Solid_hedgehog
I'm honestly curious. What percentage of traditional games have 22 percent of those who bought them, play them EVERY DAY this long after they came out. My guess is that it's not many. I don't understand how this story was spun as a negative.
subnet6
So people are lazy and quit exercising after 6 weeks? Isn't that like being surprised when someone doesn't keep to their New Year's resolution?
Personally, it's been awesome for me and my girlfriend. We've both lost weight, toned up, and feel a lot more energetic. I'd say it's a pretty damn good success of a product, not only sales-wise but in terms of results given the people are actually able (and motivated) to stick with it.
Domasai
My wife wants this for her birthday next month....but can I find any bloody stock in the UK?!!?
Shambles.
Skoota
I wake up an hour earlier every morning before I have to go to work to do it for 30 minutes a day, every day. Only time I stopped was for 2 days when I had to go visit some family. But I've been doing it for about 42 days straight according to the game.
It's worked wonders for me (combined with eating reasonably healthy of course). Considering I didn't do *anything* before it and have an office job it beats not excersizing at all. I can run up the stairs to the bus and not be out of breath now.
RidleyTJN
yeah like every other casual crap
mpar
Is this really a surprise to anyone? WiiFit is freaking garbage.
Metropolis
Wife is still hittin it hard. She's lost somewhere around 10 lbs I think in about 3 weeks. We just had our 2nd son 2 months ago so it's good for her. She can't exactly get out to the gym regularly and it works well enough at home.
And no she doesn't use it every day. 4 or 5 days a week yes. No one should be working out every day anyways, that would make your workout less effective.
rochec
I would if it didn't need so much room. I just don't have enough room in my room to play wii fit properly in. I don't need wii fit to get my dose of push-ups, squats, whatever but it does help me to actually see some progress and introduce me to new exercises.
RPGr
I can't believe that people bought this in first place. I haven't touch my Wii in a long time.
jocaju
@DukeOfPwn: I like it, it's a great game; tbh my life is a little messed up right now with where I'm living though.
What I mean is - I'm not doing it on it's own, once I move in a few weeks I'll also be doing lots of OTHER exercise.
Shimmergeek
One more thing:
The yoga has been great for my back. I was in a pretty bad car accident 7 years ago and sustained a lot of tissue damage. Ever since I've had persistent back problems. But recently, I've notice dramatic improvement.
So if you have back problems, I suggest picking one up.
graddy
Two points
1) I still use my Wii Fit everyday. I've been getting somewhat bored, but if they produced another game (that dealt with the problems of the first one), I would definitely pick it up and keep using it.
2) How many games still have 22% of their consumer base still playing them every single day several months later? I would gather that very few do. So although there is a 64% attrition rate, I would say that Nintendo was quite successful in this one.
graddy
What else is new, really? It's no different than the 60% of people who buy a weight bench, use it for a week and never touch it again. Hell, I'm guilty of that.
Most people on earth are going to be equally as lazy as they used to be, no matter how many exercise machines, or work-out DVDs they buy.
The people who stick with Wii Fit are probably the same people who actually have the will to do real workouts; the rest of us will continue to make ourselves feel better by purchasing the "idea" that we'll actually put effort into keeping in shape...then forget about it a week later.

I stopped simply because I lost interest. It was fun for the first couple of weeks, then I was just like, "Why..." I just find exercising outside to be a lot more fun, motivational, and less restricted.
Br00klyn-Grenade
Coming from someone who still hasn't found a Wii Fit anywhere in stores, this comes as a major, massive and humongous annoyance. You ******* got a Wii Fit and you aren't even using it? *************** GOD ****************** CRAP!!!!
tabion20
@Aethyr: Heck I don't play it period!
The Chin
I thought this was quite predictable
Bluetribal
My girlfriend bought a wii AND then bought Wii Fit. the thing is Wii Fit is sold out everywhere so she did well to locate a brand new copy - she was that determined.
She played it once and never touched it again. Oh-well, at least we have a Wii now :)
Shin-Kaiser
@snakepliskin: It's not a joke, the PS3 still has no games. Well, it has two games that you can't get elsewhere with better online support.
ZeeBeeEss
I use it as more of a launch pad to get myself into more and more activities. It got me up and off the couch and now I am riding my bike everywhere in a city that hates anything but vehicular transport, playing basketball again, and doing much more lawn work for family members that simply cannot due to age and handicaps. I use Wii Fit when I start to falter from this and letting down that little board buddy is something I cannot take. I've lost 15-20 pounds since I got it, but that's not from using it exclusively of course.
ZeeBeeEss
I don't like the choice of answers in this poll--it's rather stupid. Like any typical exercise regimen I've gone through, I never do it every day, perhaps 4-5 days a week. And most of my friends who exercise frequently don't do it every day either, yet that's more than once every 2-3 days. Agggh. It's late and I'm getting grumpy over a trivial point, but yeah.
Day 40 and still going good.
Pammeh
I will wait at least half a year looking at releases for balance board before deciding whether i need it or not, current games for it including Wii Fit just dont cut it. Good for Nintendo Wii Sports is more fun than Wii Fit or they'd choke
Zorba
I record my progress faithfully everyday, except for those 5 days I was out of town.
M
I'm only on day 38 with Wii Fit, but I'm using it religiously every day. I do the long jog first thing in the morning and another long jog at lunch time (I'm still building up to the island lap as I'm out of shape). Then in the evening I do one more long jog and a whole bunch of muscle and yoga exercises (most important are the press-ups and rowing squats as I think they're the most difficult for me).
When I first started I could barely do the short jog and a few of the exercises on their lowest reps, now I'm doing loads more. So for me it's been a fantastic tool for improving my fitness and I intend to keep at it.
photoboy
@phinehas: The difference is that you're not supposed to play MGS4 daily as part of your routine.
Comparing the two is like saying: "Most people who buy fitness DVDs give up after a week, but then how many people still watch Spider-Man every day after 6 weeks?" (The guy who goes to work in a Spidey suit...?)
The important thing to keep in mind is what Brian wrote at the end: those numbers aren't bad, they're probably in line with gym memberships/New Year resolution/self-enforced exercise routines.
No, wait, I'm sure they're higher than the latter two.
And I think the reason Bash made that point was partly to avoid "BWA-HAAA Wii Fit is PHAIL" comments. Because it's clearly not.
@TheLAG: ZOMG, you diddunt put a commaz before "too"!!!
Antiterra
@NeoAkira:
You're joking right? That's a good game list? If you're a Nintendo wanker, probably but a true gamer? Cut that thing to half (I'm being generous) and then we'll talk.
Thono_Sakurai
Not surprised, but this doesn't mean it's a failure either. A lot of people purchased Wii Fit without thinking through things like logistics, so it goes without saying that many people are going to drop it, or not use it daily.
Twenty Two percent however, is a very good number. When you keep in mind the likely audiences, and their habits. It could be better of course, but it's still a very good number.
WolvenOne
Imma laughing my head off. FAD FAD FAD!
People are so stupid it's hillarious.
Thono_Sakurai
My mother is turning 50 next week and I decided to buy her wii and wii fit to go along with it. And since I'll be home for 3 weeks I'll see if I like the game. I'm still not convinced to buy it for myself mostly because I'd probably leave it be after 2 days, but I just have trouble sticking to anything. If I like it I'll probably buy it for myself too. I hope I'll be in the 34% that still use it.
julians
I'm 71 days in and 7 kg lighter (little more than 14 lbs. for you all on the other side of the pond). Basically still weighing myself and checking my fitness age every day, and doing some balance games every now and then to keep this 41 year old body in shape. But it really has made me more aware of how my body reacts to food and exercise (and parties on Saturday evenings).
Deezigner
Hmmm... and how many games in general are bought and then not played again after a few weeks? 22% is a LOT of people. I'm one of them, as is my girlfriend.
How many of you out there have bought MGS4 on release and are still playing it now? Single player, we all know multiplayer adds some life to some games. Ninja Gaiden 2? GTA4 I'll give you. Smash Bros?
Unless it has a 100 hours of gameplay, I kinda doubt there are 22% who are playing any one game for that amount of time.
StrikerGold
The best part is that nintendo doesn't care if you keep using i or not. They already have our money, and there's not many things you can do about it, xD
Any1 selling it, 'll buy it, there are a couple of upcoming games where using the wiiboard is a must to get the whole feel of the game
KristenBal
@VakeroRokero: That's my point. :P I was being sarcastic.
Roto13
hahaha
I am pretty sure that if they added Bouncing Boob physics to the game, the drop out rate wouldn't be so bad.
pulyx
I'm still using mine daily, been slacking on the workouts because school and work got hectic, but been doing the body tests and a little yoga every day since purchase. I'm already skinny, it's more of an "increasing flexibility" thing, along with helping me target muscles to improve. I still really like it.
ceredonia
@reecord2: Indeed. I bet the average piece of "fitness equipment" has a higher drop off rate than Wii Fit has had. That's probably what it should be judged against.
paulmcg
I bet 64% of people stopped using the Wii after purchase.
Kenny
It's probably important to see statistics of how many people quit exercise programs this early in, period. I wouldn't be surprised if it's more than 22%.
reecord2
I suspect more and more people will gradually stop using it.
Xcite79
Not surprising!
Wolfers
See that's why I didn't buy Wii Fit even though I got a Wii at launch. I knew it was a novelty-ish type of game, with limited lastability.
icegoat
I think the more surprising thing is 22% of people use it EVERY DAY I mean come on! Thats a lot of people! I think some of them must be fibbing or something because there is no way that 22% play wii fit every day imo >.>
@Diddy_Mao:
I totally agree with you!
hrabbit
Maybe people stopped playing because they had already become 100% fit by using the program. No need to play it after that.
dowingba
I got to 2 consecutive days and since have only played it 3 more times.
JesseLacey
I guess Nintendo fans were this vitriolic during the PS1 and PS2 days too.
miniboss1232
WTF? 22 percent still doing it is fantastic! Did anyone actually expect it to be something more than that? I'd be willing to bet the percentage of people who use their treadmill regularly or their bowflex or whatever is WAY less than 22 percent. Even weekly, we're looking at 34% are EXERCISING because of a video game. Amazing. Imagine what that stats will look like when games like Skate it come out with trick control on the balance board.
subnet6
I can't really say I'm surprised by this.
The Wii is pretty much the new iPod, the majority of people don't know what it is, don't know what it does, but they know it's something they want.
Although I'm not it's biggest fan I'm not saying it's a bad system. I'm just saying the majority of people buying it are not what the types of folks I see buying a whole lot of games.
I imagine these are the same folks who bought a PS2 for guitar hero and then let the whole system collect dust once the novelty wore off.
Diddy_Mao
@Roto13: gym doesn't suck. people suck. if everyone didn't suck, diet pills and diet books wouldn't be a 40 billion industry over games and money together and competing with the car industry.
VakeroRokero
Not surprising. I've seen stationary bikes used an the most expensive clothes hanger in many people's houses. Specially fat persons. Too bad... We could learn a little from places like Brazil where everyone works out and then goes to work and many work out again after work, all women can't explaining why brazilian woman ALL sport a six pack and a muscle ass...
VakeroRokero
I"m not surprised at all. This thing was a stupid gimmick from the beginning.
griffinrider
@Abriael: Of course. That's why so many people go to the gym once and don't go back. Because Gyms suck.
Roto13
Funny, these are answers I'd expect if they were polling Americans (and before you start bashing me for that comment thinking I'm foreign, I'm American).
Solertia
Why are some people so obsessed with discrediting Wii Fit? How can these oh-so-hardcore gamers be threatened by a simple balancing game?
Arklop
I've been using it every day for half an hour since european launch. Lost 7KG, which isn't too bad. Though I've mixed it with other exercises too, like jogging outside and excerbike.
Alazar
@EnigmaNemesis:
Certain games work better with certain controllers. It doesn't show inferiority. And the gamecube controller thing is pure opinion. My brother, for instance, would rather use the Wiimote and Nunchuck. Why he would is beyond me, but I don't think that shows inferiority.
It's like when Street Fighter IV comes out, I'm sure they'll release an arcade pad for it. Does that make the PS3 and 360 controller inferior to an arcade pad? No, it just means some people prefer arcade pads because they consider them superior for controlling.
NeoAkira
I've had it for about 2 months now and ive weight myself just about every morning and probly do the activities every other night. I've been doing more jogging and bike riding now too thanks to a motivated girlfriend.
Wii fit has made me more aware about my diet, exercise and the like. And i have also lost over 2kgs thanks to it
KraazyCraig
Hahaa... that's great. My little sister wants it for her birthday. Yep. I bet she'll play it for like... a week or so. Who knows :o
But yeah, like common.. I gave up on smash after 2 weeks <_<
MetaKz
@NeoAkira:
Gamecube controller is prime for Brawl
Which makes me desire it less, knowing the system its on main selling point is controls, that flat out are inferior to the system before it.
EnigmaNemesis
A lot of people give up playing a given game after 6 weeks. 6 weeks is a lot of time, you know.
Darthvinder
@SatanicBoomBoomHead:
Poor grammar, bad spelling AND trolling? That's a triple whammy right there.
NeoAkira
Who cares about all this nintendo gimicks
SatanicBoomBoomHead
I wonder how that compares to both other similarly priced exercise devices and other similarly priced video games.
Of course if it's comparable to other products, then perhaps it's not exactly the revolutionary device Nintendo claimed it would be.
XbhaskarX
Nintendo: Masters of making extremely desired, somewhat expensive, heavy paperweights.
mikemil828
@snakepliskin:
hmmm, well sorry to attack you but the way your worded your comments sounded like such. Calling something a gimmick is the same as saying anyone who uses it doesn't know any better. So it's pretty offensive to the people who think of WiiFit as a nice new endeavor into gaming.
And I've never really understood the Wii has no games argument. Here are some great Wii games:
Super Mario Galaxy
Mario Kart Wii
Legend of Zelda: TP
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Resident Evil 4
Metroid Prime 3
Zack and Wiki
No More Heroes
Boom Blox
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Okami
DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3
Super Paper Mario
Mario Strikers Charged
Trauma Center
And these are just the ones that I like. I can't believe that you wouldn't like a fair amount of those games.
NeoAkira
The Wii Fit came out at a good time for my fiancee and me, as we are getting married at the end of the month. We're obsessed with beating each other in the various exercises, and we do a body test daily.
I've lost seven pounds since picking up the machine in late May, and I'm hoping for another four or five before the big day.
Thanks, Wii Fit!
CowboyRob
@Manator Is Sorry: I totally respect your opinion and just want clarify i wasnt attacking it.
@TitillatedOcelot: Actually i think as a piece of exercise equipment its just as effective as anyt other exercise device that is to say its only as effective as the person using it.
snakepliskin
That's actually kind of impressive. 1/3 is pretty darn good.
Zunnoab
Am I the only one who... like... use Wii Fit for fun?
roger9614462
@snakepliskin: You're entitled to your opinion of not finding games compelling...but I happen to find a lot of entertainment in my Wii, either when I waggle by myself, or I waggle with my family...I'm always playing with myself on one of three things. My DS, my Wii, or my PC.
You can interpret my comments how you wish.
Manator Is Sorry
@Fryfat: I was thinking about that same point. I played MGS4, got through it, will probably play through it another time and move on. I think the reason why Wii Fit is held up to a different light is because it suggested that it was an exercise device, and an effective exercise doesn't get left behind once one has "beaten" it. If anything, this poll is hinting at (without proving) that Wii Fit was something that people bought in the height of the hype. Once the shine wears off it, people stop using it. As a game, that's quite normal. As a piece of exercise equipment, that makes Wii Fit less effective that what it was marketed as.
TitillatedOcelot
"Like any exercise program, most people quite early on."
>"most people quite early on."
>"quite"
Yeah, I remember when I "quite" that brain training stuff too.
TheLAG
I go in spurts of like a week and a half. Right now I can't though cuz I let my aunt and uncle borrow it to see if they want to buy it, but the Wii Fit channel is taunting me every time I start up the wii with its count of how many days since last fitness test. . .
donquijote23
@NeoAkira: Whoa whoa not trying to be a troll im just stating my dissapointment in a system i purchased and my dissapointment stems from a lack of titles i personally find compelling. No need to get all fired up we're all friends here having a laugh. =) see? smile boys.
snakepliskin
I use Wii Fit as part of an exercise program. My gym membership allows me to go Monday, Wednesday, Friday and weekends, so I use Wii Fit on my off-days.
This article makes it seem as though the game is a failure, why? To think that people played it every day for a month is well above average for games. Do people play MGS 4 every day?
Fryfat
I had a go at Wii Fit. It was truly enjoyable! But at the same time, before I dashed out to purchase a copy, I asked myself, "Do I see myself playing this a month from now?" My answer was no, and I'm glad I refrained.
TitillatedOcelot
i think 22% is great! whats this ddr thing?
xpnet
@snakepliskin:
Wow, you're quite clueless then. Gamecube controller is prime for Brawl, not the classic controller. Lesson learned I suppose.
"stuff like wii fit just another gimmick to avoid the whole "game" issue."
Is it?
Wikipedia: A game is a structured or semi-structured activity, usually undertaken for enjoyment and sometimes also used as an educational tool.
Sounds like a game to me.
"Nintendo is practically expecting us to buy new controllers for each new game or at the least a controller add on."
Is that right? You don't need anything more than a Wiimote and Nunchuck for any Wii game. And the only other controller required would be the classic controller if you're going to buy VC games.
"If they would come out with another game besides brawl for me maybe i wouldnt hate on it so much"
I know, if only they'd come out with other games for you. How dare they cater to the masses while leaving you completely out of sight.
And the Wii has no games thing is sooo old. If you can't find a game for the Wii then you're blind or intentionally trying to find a reason to complain about it. Either way, stop trolling.

i think the great thing about wii fit is the fact that its so accessable - yes many may not be using it as often as they once were at the start - but thats the hidden accessability of it; easy to pick up - easy to put down.
im certain many will start picking it up again, there is still alot of 'buzz' surrounding wii fit, especially in uk as its still very hard to find in stores - it sells that fast (when in stock anyways...)
i still use it - and trust me it has worked wonders for me!

@thejakeman: visit my site!: Well i didnt like it with the nunchuck and i never had a gamecube and i really didnt want to get ripped off by gamestop for one. And really its alot better with the classic remote.
@Manator Is Sorry: haha man you are now officially the nintendo wii patriot missle system, shooting down all incoming attacks. No ones attacking you personally man, take it easy its just a game.

Hahaha, its gonna be this morning all over all over again. So much rage, so... much... r...a...g...e.

@journies_end: If thats the case, then PSMO must make the WiiFit step seem like a comedy fest.
Jhongerkong
@snakepliskin: really, i didn't know you were forced to get one for brawl. i suppose i'll chuck my gc controller then.
thejakeman: visit my site!
It's hardly a game, of course people are bound to stop keeping track of it. Plus, it's summer. Anyone who's going to exercise, is probably doing it outside. Come winter when it's too cold, people may start picking it up again.
Green-clad Gamer Dude
@snakepliskin: And you're the perfect example that proves that PS3 fanbois will jump on any "negative" Nintendo news.
Sorry for the double post.
Manator Is Sorry
That's not surprising, considering its hardly an exercise program.

@Abriael: I'm glad you're contributing to the discussion.
@Metal_Slug_Solid: You do know there are more than a couple of products designed for the thing, right?
@Aethyr: Me and my daughter have been playing Wii Sports ever since we got our Wii back in Dec 2007 - she keeps begging me to teach her Super Mario Galaxy and Dr Mario RX.
Manator Is Sorry
@DonWii: Hey! There you go! Nice progress! Now, if only I could snag a copy for my girlfriend and I!

I still use the scale as a record as my weight loss (43 days later and 22lbs lighter!), but I don't use any of the actual programs anymore. Why? WiiFit was a jumping off point for me, fitness wise. The first two weeks I owned WiiFit did the 30 minute workout on it everyday... but the more I did the WiiFit exercises the less and less it felt like "exercise"... so I went outside and started biking, jogging, and of course, dusted off my old DDR pad and booted up my old Workout Mode data (Paranoia on LIGHT MODE makes WiiFit Step look like a joke).
So yeah, I don't play WiiFit anymore... it's a good thing.
journies_end
Remember when everyone kept using the "Ps3 has no games" joke? We should be applying that joke to the wii because the lack of games on it is appauling. And really what makes it worse is stuff like wii fit just another gimmick to avoid the whole "game" issue. Nintendo is practically expecting us to buy new controllers for each new game or at the least a controller add on. Hell i went out and bought the classic controller for brawl.
snakepliskin
I have a real gym membership, and no Wii Fit. Then again, I'm one of the rather rare "gamers who aren't overweight and out of shape". Instead I'm just skinny, meaning Wii Fit has no use to me anyways!
Either way, this poll is a little depressing. If people are buying the thing up like crack but only using it once, why don't they tell their friends NOT to buy it? The sales continue because people are stupid, it seems.
Archaotic
This...doesn't really surprise me at all.
Mazakona
Count me as one of the people who quit.
Of course, I didn't just quit Wii Fit, I quit the Wii altogether. I sold all the Wii stuff I had a couple weeks ago. Don't miss it much.

I think I've missed two days of measuring, I try to make sure that I do that every night. It's quite amusing as I can see the days when my arthritis is worse by the altering of my centre of balance and the way I age in the balance tests.
The exercising I'm not so good with but that is because I'm so hit and miss, if it's a good day I can do a little yoga a bad day and I can't stand up for longer than it takes for the measuring.
My girlfriend and my daughter use it whenever they are at my house.
Oh and 60 odd days and around 30 kilos lost.
Weirdwolf
@phinehas: i would be godly if i continued to play for 4 more weeks
TheNocturnalSun
I guess it's a hit or miss deal.
KM91
No. I don't have wii fit because it seems stupid buying a special controller for one game. It's more sensible to get 3 games (or 6 DS games) that use standard controllers than to get one game along with an expensive balance board that most games don't use.
Metal_Slug_Solid
Well, this is in Japan. I'm not quite sure that there's a huge health issue with people being overweight over there. So, chances are, a lot of people are buying it to be trendy or are buying it for kids to play with/keep active. I doubt the kids are going to answer this poll. Not that I'd expect the US numbers to be any better,
