Bungie's Halo Game Announcement Held Back For A 'Dedicated Event'
Oh, the drama. To recap: Bungie were going to announce a game at E3. Then they didn't. Turns out it's a Halo game. That new, Bungie Halo game, to be obviously published by MS, was supposed to be unveiled during Microsoft's keynote, but according to Don Mattrick, they pulled it at the last minute. Why? Because Microsoft - perhaps catching wind of the sub-par standard of their competitor's addresses - felt they already "had an embarrassment of riches", and that they "felt we could do this game more justice with a more dedicated event". Maybe, though you've also totally taken the wind out of that announcement's sails with all this meddling.

I didn't like that guy, he was awfully boring during his speech. They need someone with some pizzazz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok whatever you say -you somehow knew what nintendo and sony were showing a whole day before they showed it - sure you did microsoft
fullmetalvash
cocky assholes...their press conference wasnt that mindblowing...the only HUGE HUGE thing that everyone is talking about is FFXIII...they barely even show any games...gear of war II and fable 2 um they're old news...they will probably be pretty good but still not new news...if they didnt have FFXIII only really decent thing they would have had is the netflix deal and really i could give two shits and a rat asses about that...
fullmetalvash
After having such a good show, I would have done the same.
Always keep a card for last, and the one with the last laugh shall win.

@finalcircles:
Bungie has already been hinting that there's something 'big' for fans at Penny Arcade Expo this year. Of course, that may have been predicated on an E3 announcement that did not happen. So maybe we gets it @ PAX, maybes we don't.
geekinabox
Probably because the ink was still wet on the FFXIII deal, so they put that in the conference instead of Halo. Gotta love MS bending their best developer over the chair on that one.

@Sammo21: You're ridiculous for about 100 obvious reasons.
karasu is my homeboy
Get your filthy hands off their game, they wanted, you meddled, and you meddled late.
You were out of line basically.

Whats with the all the Pre-render hate? Do you people moan when playing a game and an in-game cut-scene appears? Sure gameplay vid would've been nice but it least it the teaser showed what to expect.
Chronixal
I hope it gets leaked before then, but I doubt it. Bungie are pretty good with secrets, I think? But all it takes is one disgruntled (pun?) employee annoyed with M$'s meddling.

@Sammo21: I just picked up a PS3 last week so the Sony conference was the most important in my mind but you just said Sony showed the most exclusives for their console. The entire conference Sony kept dropping "75 PS3 exclusives are coming out." Off the top of my head, I can only remember God of War 3, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Killzone 2 and MAG being shown. I may have forgotten one that Sony showed off but still, when I'm told there's 75 exclusives, I want a good chunk of them at least mentioned.
I didn't hear Microsoft promising 75 exclusives and then only mentioning Gears of War 2, Too Human, Banjo Kazooie and Halo Wars.
Microsoft's, Sony's and Nintendo's conferences all sucked, but at least Microsoft seemed to put their money where their mouth was. Also now with Microsoft we know Bungie has something big to be shown soon, while with Sony it's pure speculation.
Overall, I guess, I feel let down by Sony because I just purchased a PS3 and they kept raving about how MGS4 is the big reason to get a PS3. I view this conferences as why you should be happy you got a ps3 because of what's coming out over the next two years.
savemeaquaman
I am just happy a new Bungie Halo game is coming, I wonder when this "Dedicated Event" will be?

@tehflyingwombat: Never mind checked your profile, your comments speak for themself. Carry on and have a good day.
Pornosaur
@tehflyingwombat: Are you talking about the E3 press conferences? By far the worst press conference came from Microsoft? May I direct you to the direct feed video of the Nintendo one?
Pornosaur
They should have announced it anyways, now it's going to come as absolutely no surprise and all the halo fans feel ripped off.
Puff
Jeez MS, not too humble there are we? Well your embarrassing riches were, in fact, embarrassing, but not because they were riches. I think Microsoft had by far the worst press conference... I also think a Bungie announcement could've saved them. Ah well, apparently they're too busy praising themselves.
tehflyingwombat
@karasu is my homeboy:
The "new" elements of Fable were announced a while back. Gears 2 was announced a while back. Netflix has been bounced around for a while and doesn't really matter a whole lot. I can say the same sort of things about Sony and Nintendo. So yes, your welcome. So nice we are using please, thanks, and your welcome on Kotaku posts...we gots class.
Sammo21
The MS presser might have been the best of the three, but that's not saying alot because Sony's and especially Nintendo's were pretty lame.
There's more to this story. All we know so far is that Bungie meticulously crafted yet another awesome "lead up" to an announcement (as they are famous for doing) only to be totally bitchslapped into submission by their former(?) masters Microsoft. It stinks. Hard.
dowingba
@Makidian: same goes for you sir, God of War III shouldn't even be called a trailer.
Pornosaur
@Sammo21: Yeah, because they didn't have Gears 2, or the awesome new online elements of Fable 2 on display. They didn't have anything cool like a Netflix announcement, they didn't strengthen the social aspects of live with 8-person chat...none of that. It was all just FF13 and then end conference. Please.
karasu is my homeboy
@LeLoi: If you seriously give Sony any credit for that God of War 3 trailer, you sir are fail.
Pornosaur
@mrdietsoda:
Well, I would think this happened so it wouldn't trump GOW2. I would expect to hear about it closer to GOW2's release date, more than likely. Same thing about Sony, as we will probably hear more about God of War 3 sometime around September and we will hear about the new game from Team Ico around TGS.
Sammo21
So, they're too good for E3?
mrdietsoda
Sure it was pointless to pull the presser, but its a Halo game by Bungie. What else is there to know? Its just more of the same in a new box, not much more to it. You know the core information, the details will trickle out.
Messer
Well I for one am very, very excited for another Halo game by Bungie. Besides, aren't there strong rumors that Bungie is making a second game as well? Bungie makes a new game for a very successful franchise while also working on a whole new IP. How is that bad?
Mini-Boss
lol Microsoft are sure full of themselves if they think they had a embarrassment of riches. Their press conference was a joke. Same with the other 2 press conferences from Sony and Nintendo. Sony only fared slightly better with GoW3 and MAG. E3 just plain sucks this year.
LeLoi
I thought Microsoft's presser was a bore until I saw FF being played and then I got pissed for a second and calmed down. Nintendo's presser sucked, I missed some of it but that lady was weird looking, like some chick I've seen on TV or something before that made want to barf. Sony's presser was the best however, it was too short, too much focus on PS2 and not enough about the PS3 games. They showed the most original content of any of them. And just because the God of War 3 trailer was pre-rendered doesn't make it any less awesome and certainly had me excited.
Makidian
I bet this is going to be some type of action adventure game. Even though i agree that the announcement wasn't needed (blame sony for bringing the weak sauce) they definitely killed the surprise.

@Pbombas:
I'm not going to get baited into an argument, so I will only clarify: When someone remands you of errors you make, that doesn't make them fanboys to anything except logic.
Also, my comment on the new "dashboard" of the 360 IS purely opinion. I didn't say I thought the XMB or the Wii's HUD was better, so you can't say that I was taking one side or the other. Also, you are right to bring the NYTs up because they never say anything that's not true (see: story about Rape in the military). Again, you got excited for Portal when all there was displayed was a logo without explaining what it was. And lastly, if you are trying to bash the PS3's video service that's fine as it is young and not the best so far, but Ps3 owners don't have to pay 59.95 a year to download movies and play games.
So, what did we learn after all this? E3 sucks on the whole, so far, this year.
Sammo21
@Pbombas:
It boggles my mind that you tried to correct Kotaku's Grammar, all while making a sentence like this:
"The dash isn't cool u say? Aiight, check ur eyes plz...
And u tell me to limit my fanboyish outbursts, and then go to defend the sony conference even tho its been heralded as underwhelming by the majority of the press, including the newy york times? Hypocritical much? And the best display of games? pre-rendered crap doesnt count as quality dude. Its called lazy. And more exclusives to psn? they showed fewer than the 360 dude."
What the fuck kind of train wreck run-on sentence of the year bullshit was that?
LittleBigPlaneteer
I was talking about the dash and new arcade games in specific.
Pbombas
@Sammo21:
See thats what i was looking for ...Scene it? released in 2002 as a board game and has over 20 different versions with more every year (i want the doctor who version..yeah im a fan) and Buzz has officially been out (according to the company) since October 2005 and in 2007 in amaerica (took us 2 years to get is..we are slow) ..the xbox controller is pretty much a copy of the Buzz controller (hey give credit where credit is due) .. I woiuld rather say MS's implementation of Scene it? is cashing in on the success of Buzz than say scene it? is copying Buzz.
finalcircles
says the dude with a ps3-related name...
Pbombas
@Pbombas:
Your logic is FUBAR
LittleBigPlaneteer
And that $50 xbox live users pay each year is exactly why the m$ conference won e3...

@Sammo21:
The dash isn't cool u say? Aiight, check ur eyes plz...
And u tell me to limit my fanboyish outbursts, and then go to defend the sony conference even tho its been heralded as underwhelming by the majority of the press, including the newy york times? Hypocritical much? And the best display of games? pre-rendered crap doesnt count as quality dude. Its called lazy. And more exclusives to psn? they showed fewer than the 360 dude. I've already pointed that out. And the sony video store is also more than a year behind, and contains a shit load less content than xbox live. Notice how JAck tretton said that their video store was "open" to all these studios but did he actually say that they we're putting their movies on psn? NO!! he didnt. U know why? Cuz m$ has exclusive deals with wb, disney, paramount, and others...
And please be sure to read up on professional opinions before posting ur clearly biased and eskewed opinion.
Pbombas
@finalcircles:
Well, Buzz has been out for years in Europe as Scene It is new on the 360 here in North America. Also, the controller for Buzz that we have in North America is the same as the one in Europe which MS made their Scene Controller look Exactly The Same.
So, is the actual Scene It board game a rip off of Buzz? Of course not, but MS sure did take a strong look at Buzz (too strong) before sending the idea to the "presses".
Sammo21
Just because they delayed the anouncement doesn't mean they delayed the game's release. I seem to recall MS wanted a GoW/Halo release pattern every other year.
Tyrannical
@Pbombas:
Fable 2 co-op is old, avatars arent cool, new dash is meh, arcade games aren't all that great (besides 'maybe' Geometry wars 2), exclusive fallout DLC is cool, RE 5 co-op isn't exclusive to 360, new gears is meh, and FFXIII isn't a killing blow since Ps3 will dominate in Japan even more than it is now....might help MS in EU where they aren't doing as well.
Please try to limit the fanboyish outbursts, as they are slightly annoying. While Sony didn't have a lot of suprises (no one did, and MS's only surprise was they stole an exclusive...not that they were getting one), Sony did have the best showing of GAMES at the conference. They showed more exclusives and more original PSN titles than the other two did. Also, the fact you can rent a movie without having to pay $49.95 a year is a big deal, especially when EVERY Ps3 has an HDD which every 360 DOES NOT. Was Sony's presser spectacular or revolutionary? No, but their content was presented better, was more polished, and they showed more games.
Please be sure to at least google the content you are putting down before posting. :(
Sammo21
Uhm Here's a question.. real simple just have to answer I did or i didnt...... who here has actually done their research on Scene-it? Doesnt have to explain in long details why you think its a rip off of buzz just looking to see something..

Sorry, my bad, i was thinking of them saying "are" instead of "were". But the point's still there, they sohuld be using a singular past-tense verb, not a plural one.
Pbombas
@Benjammn: The problem is though, that when you talk about things like, say, Mario and Zelda, you're talking about series that are twenty plus years old. Not that people don't take every opportunity to gripe about another Mario game because of their stupid hatred of a gaming icon, but it really depends on how much you see of it in a short amount of time.
Some of the Sony franchises aren't as old, but still have a number of titles to them, and would probably be up there in Mario territory if they'd started at the same time. Ratchet and Clank, Gran Turismo. Even Sega was good about popping out Sonic games, even after their hardware days were over. These are over a couple generations of console hardware. Nintendo at five, Sony's at four. MS is at two, so going back to the Halo well four times within a brief amount of time can make people peeved. Especially when they all thought that they were moving on to something new. Of course, all the anger and such is rather unnecessary, but... hey, this is the interweb, we have stupidity at the drop of a hat.
Ampillion = That Man.
So was Microsoft's riches the new avatars? Or the game that's literally a rip off of Buzz? Just checking because I wasn't sure....
Sammo21
@Pbombas: Um, wouldn't the correct form be "was," not "is," if the original was "were" (and shouldn't you have used "should" instead of "sohuld")? I think it's kotaku editorial policy to refer to companies plurally as groups of people rather than an entity, eg. the people at Bungie. I have to admit I don't like that either.
wanion
"What did Msoft have at there presser that was groundbreaking beyond XIII."
An awesome new dashboard, avatars, netflix on xbox 360, a ton of new xbox live aracade games (Portal ftw!), exclusive fallout 3 DLC, RE 5 co-op, new gears LIVE DEMONSTRATIONS, fable 2 gameplay (co-op mode), and FF XIII. And to top that off, if u think ff 13 was the only groudbreaking thing, then wat groundbreaking thing did sony have at all? none... And their conference proved that their the most in tune with gamers, but actually focusing on games, and not the past (cough Sony cough), not ur wtf logic.
Pbombas
@venkat55:
That was my favorite part of E3 :D
LittleBigPlaneteer
The little big planet based presentation stole the show. Its all about creativity and not about stealing!
venkat55
"We already knew about the new dashboard, the avatars..."
Sure, we knew, but we didnt actually see it in action? How is that not something huge? Actual demonstrations >>> prerendered crap anyday (*cough* Sony, no demonstration cough*)
Pbombas
Yeah, and?
Come on. Seriously. What did Msoft have at there presser that was groundbreaking beyond XIII.
We already knew about the new dashboard, the avatars...
They have a singstar knock off, they have an eye toy knock off, they have wii knock offs...
They did nothing to impress.
They only thing their conference proved is that they're still the biggest dicks in the industry and that's not in a good size matters way.

Ya, it is weird that no quote was actaully given for it being a halo game, which leaves me doubting that it actaully is. Anyway, so if this is going to get a dedicated event, will it be X08 or possibly a "HaloCon"? AND WHY DOES THE ARTICLE SAY "BUNGIE WERE"!?! Bungie is a single company, a limited liablity corporation, ITS SINGULAR. It sohuld say Bungie IS, not were. jeez.

I mean, come on, another Halo game? =S Was hoping for something new, even though I don't even own a 360.

Ok....let me get this straight...so Bungie spends months meticulously creating excitement for a big reveal to their most loyal fans, and some out-of-touch exec decides it "isn't necesary, thanks just the same", then proceeds to reveal said game off-the-cuff to a blogger? And now they expect us to wait for a "dedicated event"? For what? So we can watch Bungie's "new" game limp out of its gate and we can all say "hey...whaddyaknow bout that?" half-heartedly?
Speaking of this "dedicated event", one has to wonder just how far off it can be. And where it will be? Indeed, I wonder if they even have an event yet. Something tells me its possible they may be hastily manufacturing one as we speak.
LordPotato
@Arsenicberyllium:
And Halo wasn't Bungie's IP? Because you said that their IP wasn't original, even though it was (as in Bungie's). And it's only been 3 games (out) for Christ's sake. Just in comparison to many series (MGS, Mario, Zelda, etc.) that have 10+ games out, so people shouldn't be so quick to call them "sellouts" or "unoriginal" when Sony/Nintendo/others have been milking us for DECADES.
But the person that blurted should be shot. What a dumb thing to do....Although it would be hilarious if the person was wrong. Boy, would people get angry. XD
Benjammn
Microsoft [...] felt they already "had an embarrassment of riches"
Wow I completely disagree. They are just being arrogant and pretentious. Also, who DIDN'T expect a new Halo? Come on now MS you stole some ideas and SE decided to use you for sales and now you act like Halo is some new and unexpected game.
mfwahwah
regardless of the intention, this publicity stunt has raised the awareness of this game. i just hope this game is as good as the hype around it is unbearable.
maraxusofk
I think it was more of a 'We had plenty of core gamer announcements' sort of thing. Nintendo stuck to their casual, non-core gamer display. Sony brought out what everyone knew they would, or still had, on the table. I don't think MS mentioning another Halo game was going to do much besides prove to everyone that Microsoft is gunning for the core gamer. Still. Again. Since the FFXIII thing was already a big score on the core gamer side of things, and nothing great for the 'new market crowds', they decided to hold the announcement back for a lull in the action later on. Otherwise, I think they would breed this thought that they've only focused themselves to compete with the PS3, by putting all their resources and energy into core things that, admittedly, the market's already seen before.
Ampillion = That Man.
Halo won't be going to other systems.
MS owns Halo. MS doesn't own Bungie.

@Brian Ashcraft:
Please go back and read my post. I know that Bungie is working on a Halo game, as confirmed by Microsoft. I was merely pointing out that they may not in fact ONLY be working on a Halo game. Many studios, especially ones as big as Bungie, develop more than one game at a time, switching focus of the teams when needed.
So no, I did not assume anything.
Seiru
seriously though...it's another Halo game. Who cares?

@sascha23:
"Sony's wasn't spectacular or anything, but at least they announced God of War 3 which is something that's very 'Sony' in image."
Although they already sort of announced God of War 3 in the manual for Chains of Olympus and this new announcement did absolutely nothing to shed any additional light on the game.
None of the E3 events were stellar but MS put on the best show, imho. It had the "chewy" casual center, but it was also filled with a lot of actual gameplay (most of it geared toward hardcore gamers), different developers and a couple of big surprises.
I sort of agree MS didn't need the Halo announcement at this E3 as Sony's event, at best, tied their event and Nintendo's didn't even register. It's just too bad that the beans have been spilled and everything got messed up this way. This would have been a nice "ace up the sleeve" for later on in the year, or even at next year's E3.
Sloopydrew
Maybe they were just all still out of breath from running around stupidly for the movie game so they didn't have another announcement in them.
El-Suave
Some people are being rather cynical about this. Yes it's disappointing that we didn't get to hear about Bungie's game but it's not like this is a bad thing for Microsoft or Bungie. Bungie's game will get the benefit of not being in the E3 shuffle where the name "Halo" is nothing more then another game. The name "Halo" in it's own venue or venue's other then E3 will command more attention and will also benefit from a stronger more focused push from MS. We can be disappointed but let's not try to paint our disappointment as Microsoft's disrespect for Bungie... god knows there's probably no other publisher MS respects and values more then Bungie.
okenny :)
Here I was hoping for something else besides Halo, seriously, it's getting old.
Chaospluto
hahah what a bunch of smug fucktards.
honestly their keynote wasn't that great, they probably only kept it out because of the FF announcement which from the sounds of it was something that was recently decided.

She doesn't have Mattrick on record for actually saying it was a Halo game. She was the one who first brought up Halo.
Am I the ONLY one who caught this?

@Sloopydrew:
Personally i dont want to make too many judgement calls on the publishers. BUT...if this was an attempt to tease us (we're not gonna say exactly what it is BUT its a halo game) they approached it badly. Hopefully they will see this next time and try something different.
As for Alan wake I do hope that gets brought up soon....i really do...
finalcircles
@Coquiton: Yeah id think youd be right except mattrick just showed everyone his hand if we were to follow the cards analogy.

Sooooo, Microsoft said to Bungie, "Listen, we've just got TOO MUCH good stuff going on right now. We're going to uh... present your little project later... uh... at some point. Yeah."
Yeah, welcome back to being an Independent Developer, Bungie. Now get back into the closet and typer more code made of fun!
Salen
Well can't blame MS if this is all true, Sony and Nintendo didn't really do anything for me this time around at E3. Nintendo's was downright embarrasing to watch actually.
Pornosaur
obviously the game is far from being released because it wasn't announced, though i really wanted it to be at E3
oh well i guess
mackattack93
I think that we should have a Poll to where we think the "Big Announcement" will be....with the choices being Pax, E for all (that is happening this year right??), TGS (HA! right) and Comic Con .... then again unless they are cool polls like the ones posed by the staff it would kinda be just a idea...
As for me ...I own all 3 systems... and while this comment starts to verge a little away i have one game from all the pressers (inclusing the "unofficial one) that i want (except EA who somehow made me want 3 games).
and my ridiculous guess for the year Halo for Dreamcast and Iphone ...*silly huh*

Hehe, this article made me think of the new PA comic.
[www.penny-arcade.com]
I don't know why, I think it was the "embarrassment of riches" bit and seeing Sony's representation in the comic.
In any case, it makes sense. It's not the most pleasing thinkg to hear, but, this is E3, a place they can get tons of attention. Halo can also get tons of attention too,
Since they got so much attention without Halo already, they decided to hold on to they cards, and use Halo to get more attention later on.
I hope that makes sense, in my mind it is a perfectly logical statement. :S
In short? MS is just playing their cards smartly, instead of blowing them all at once needlessly.
Coquiton
@finalcircles:
One other thing I noticed missing, that may have been in that extra hour, was Alan Wake. That is still coming out, right? Everything I've read and even seen of the game has been incredible.
This was poorly done on either MS or Bungie's part. Or was this there way of letting us in on the surprise? Seems counterproductive to "surprise" us by telling us what it was that we were meant to be surprised by had things gone according to plan.
Sloopydrew
I love their viral stuff, here's to hoping more pops up.
kidko
Why didn't they just let Bungie make the announcement if they were going to talk about it? Seriously, this is not a good sign for the future of Xbox at Microsoft. I can't see Peter Moore doing this, or even, god help us, J. Allard. Its like they refined and extracted all of Shane Kim's general incompetence, cloned it, inseminated an embryo with it, and 9 months later called what came out Mattrick.

Saying that it's a new Halo game is working under the assumption that Bungie studios can only work on one game at a time. Which is a pretty big assumption.
I frown upon the editor who posted this.

@OGHowie: No LBP? No Motorstorm 2? No Valkyria Chronicles? No Socom? NOTHING else?
FP_slomo788
So does this mean that Gearbox is NOT working on halo??? Or does it mean they're the lead dev for Halo Chronicles (which honestly, when the hell are we gonna see that game?? That I'm excited for).
And I have been wanting Bungie to move on from Halo more than anyone, but seeing as they have been hiring enough people to make a whole new dev team, it's clear that there are at least 2 separate teams, a Halo one (my guess, a 3rd person shooter with the lead being the guy who did the Ghost Recon games), and a new IP team that will be seriously kick ass. I have faith in Bungie.
Sonic_and_Tails
I'd be amusing if they suddenly reveal that the next Halo will go to both Wii and PS3 because MS pissed them off so much.

@Quicksilver4648: While the pulled announcement is irritating if you are a fan of Halo, if it's good for the 360, it's good for Halo.

lionkitten
@symphony_of_the_night: It doesn't have to be a first person shooter though. If Sonic can be an RPG I could see a Halo Party game even. Although I certainly wouldn't hope for something quite that bad.
I'm still iffy on the whole "it's Halo" thing, if only because I'm pretty sure Don Mattrick is what we in the south (maybe not me) call "off."

Just a simple little comment to Don Mattrick. F.U.

@sascha23:
Sorry, but I can't. Other than MGS4 and Resistance 2, I won't be getting anything else on the PS3 this year.
OGHowie
I still think they have more than one project brewing. They need to do a Halo title to fill the coffers, and then they can do whatever they want. Since the Halo game, unless it was a simple expansion, couldn't possibly be out this year if all hands were indeed on deck for Halo 3, then it was slated as an 2009 release anyway. Likely it's the holiday 09 cornerstone release. I just wonder how long we will have to wait now. Surely not to next year's E3, right?
TGS? Something after the release of Gears 2/Fable 2 to keep the attention focused but before the holidays to spur Christmas sales? It'll be interesting.
I am very curious to see what else Bungie does, but as a Halo fanboy, I'm glad they are doing more in that universe as well.

Oh then I guess Banjo Kazooie, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Halo Wars are games you also dont care for? Because those wont be on the ps3...

It could be a feint, y'know; if they blatantly say that they are holding out because Sony and Nintendo didn't bring much to the table, both companies are very likely to push out what they can to attract attention. Projects that won't be complete until 2010 could get announced just to take away some of MS's steam. Knowing what's up your competitors' sleeves would be quite powerful, no? Making them desperate would be brilliant.
My360broked
i was hoping for a plataformer or something a little "original" ....
another halo ? whyyyy? right now i feel sad for the bungie employees :(
symphony_of_the_night
@Jorw: I agree. Sony's wasn't spectacular or anything, but at least they announced God of War 3 which is something that's very "Sony" in image.
It would have been nice to get the same from M$. Or at least some new IPs from a third-party they could bribe.

@sascha23:
The franchise prints money. It's the most logical decision as a business.
SG_Mahonay
@OGHowie: Current lineup? Well, as an owner of both PS3 and 360, I gotta tell you other than Gears 2, Too Human and Fable 2, there's not anything exclusive to that system that I'm eager to get.
I can list double that if not more that I'm hyped for on the Sony machine.
sascha23
Maybe the new game uses the new motion controls.
Spartan1308™
Yawn...another Halo-related title Bungie? Really?
What happened to this "we're buying ourselves out from M$ so we can make original IPs again" story of yours?
sascha23
Smart to hold it if it's not going to be released till next Xmas.
Their currently lineup plus the fact they got FF13 was enough.
OGHowie
@Madeira:
Thank you, I thought i was the only one who actually got more excited to see what game is coming out now
Topchickenz
I hope there was a better reason than that. They should have announced that. It would have strengthened MS's presentation no doubt. Now it spills all over the place like marbles on a hardwood table.
I bet Bungie was none too pleased. Classic quote from Mattrick, "embarrasment of riches". It'll take more gems than that to smooth things over with those Halo guys.
PipTheLip
...the hell? That article quotes Mattrick saying something about how they didn't use GTAIV either. Wake up dumbass, the exclusive DLC was mentioned near the very beginning of the show!
KaneRobot
@Krondonian: Still... more Halo =/= megaton...
Just in case we've forgotten a "megaton announcement": is an announcement due to be made that will "shake the foundations of gaming to its core", it is referred to as the "megaton".
cable83
I don't give a shit what they think, you don't tease something and then yank it away a split second before you're about to get a taste of it. What would've been an incredible one-two punch turned into a messy debacle that is leaving MS (rightfully so) the bad guy in all of this with hasty excuses and seeming peace offerings. They really should cut their losses because I think this will continue being a joke that will plague this game and MS will only get more and more flak for that.
Nevertheless...I could see PAX being the event that they're going to release this at. Bungie typically has a big presence there because of it being in their "backdoor."
jihadjoe343
@jsf49: I think this is it.
@zkotaku: Didn't they say when the left Microsoft that Halo would remain Microsoft only?
karasu is my homeboy
Another reason E3 failed this year.
Yokai
Wait, so they decided to announce the next Halo game later because their E3 conference was TOO GOOD? Honestly, this E3 is the worst one I have ever seen. A new Halo game would have at least made it memorable.
Jorw
@zkotaku: Jeez just imagine what would happen if that occurred, i wouldn't mind, but i think the internet might just explode.
smuckers is good
I smell the return of the XO events. The big Halo announcement kicking off X08. That expo usually took place a couple of months after E3, no? It would make a lot of sense. Making sense isn't in right now though...
SG_Mahonay
What a load of bullcrap from Microsoft. Halo could not be announced because they were pumping Gears of War 2. Halo and Gears of War 2 are same-genre competitors for the same audience.
jsf49
I didn't
