Fans Made Super SF II Tubro HD Remix Soundtrack
Posted by Brian Ashcraft at 5:00 PM on July 24, 2008
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix needed a turbo remix of a soundtrack. And that's what it got from non-for-profit website OverClocked Remix (www.ocremix.org), which provided fan mixes and arrangements. According to the site's creator David Lloyd, "Artists can submit their own ReMixes of classic and modern game soundtracks, from consoles, handhelds, arcade, or computer games, in any musical genre, from rock to jazz to orchestral to trance". Capcom was able to tap this pool of talent for the game's soundtrack. And that's pretty darn cool.

Last I heard Udon wasn't even done the sprite art for all of the characters so don't expect this game any time soon.
It's going to be such a long wait that they are actually going to patch the beta in the meantime, possibly adding one extra character.
Probably Akuma, you know, for variety.

@sosadagr8: Nice but uhh.. well, the quality sucks. Compression is bad. And sounds like you've just put a drum beat over the original...

Good ol OCR. One of the first wbsite I stumbled across the Internet and have been visiting it for a decade! I was really happy when I received their notification email about this one, about time they get some public recognition. -make sure you download "Blood on the Ashphalt", I love Sagat's and T. Hawks remixes, with Zircon's Fei Long theme holding a special place in my MP3 Player.

i hope they have the 10th aniversary album capcom released with this version. ocremix is good if you love techno, wich i do not.
oh i lie, they have a couple of good ken remix's , an old fav of mine is "the ken song" really shoddy lyrics :)

Apparently they are going to use a revised version of their already remixed SF2 album, Blood on the Asphalt, which means it'll be fantastic. I love OCR.

Aside from when it was first released when everything went to hell I've not many problems with lag on the beta. I wish there were more characters and the ability to fight more than one match in ranked mode but I thought it was pretty good. The beta is for capcom to test and experiment with the network code and infrastructure so there isn't too much point in them adding more characters. Balancing is being done internally because the public really isn't very good at giving appropriate feedback.

@sosadagr8: Sounds too "rap'ish" for my liking, good try though. Personally I love the version they chose for Ken's song, a good choice of remix for probably the most renowned SF2 theme.

@hyakutaro ichimonji: Too many purists dissowned that game due to Ryu being the only character from 1 and 2.
I personally loved it to death though.

@rockmanjoey: Ahh, nice, yeah playing as Ken and Ryu repeatedly with four tons of lag per match has taken a toll on my patience. I mean, the lag is enough, but TWO characters?! That's like, not even an Alpha, let alone beta :(

That makes me very excited for this now.. I've been an OCR fan for quite a while now.

This just makes me more excited about the release. Not only do I get SF but I also get music from some of the best re-mixers (IMHO) out there.
A happy amalgamation as far as I'm concerned.

I believe they did this for Puzzle Fighter, too!
It's a great story, most of these guys do this as a hobby, something they're into, and not only are they making pieces that are enjoyed by hundreds, but they're getting professional recognition as well. Good for them.

@Kuro: I am going to Battle of Destiny on Saturday so I am bloody hoping there is more characters to play other then Ken and Ryu. I want some Balrog man!!
There is supposed to be a patch released for the beta which was mentioned on the Capcom-Unity website.
I know there is going to be CPS2 music in this game. I liked the renditions of the CPS1 in the Home Version of Hyper Street Fighter II Anniversary. I hope they release a soundtrack just like Capcom did with Bionic Commando Rearmed

@sosadagr8: Check the judge's panel for why it was rejected, many times it's simply due to quality issues. They're not snobs, they just try to maintain high quality standards. Find out why it was denied, and improve on those areas.
Unfortunately I can't access youtube where I am to give any sort of direct criticism, and youtube is poorly compressed anyway so it wouldn't be a fair assessment.

@sosadagr8:
I think its ok but how about blending the drums with the melody a bit. I can pretty much only hear the drums, bass or whatever and barely hear the Reign of fire in the background. Just some constructive criticism but it does sound OK, I see what you did there.

When news of this game first came out, I thought it was cool until I found out that it was going to be inferior to the Alpha games, which are already miles beyond this game in terms of graphics, characters, gaming mechanics, but as I'm a sucker for SF games, I thought I'd give this game a shot anyway, but when news of SFIV broke, I began to wonder what's the point of this game. SFIV, after all is SFII.5 and this game is just a HD version of SFII, so why bother purchasing this one? Because it's fan made? NOT a good enough reason if you ask me--unless its under $10 or somewhere around there, which I'm sure it won't be.
SFIV is stylistically different--I'd prefer something cleaner like the Alpha series or even the SFIIHD--but if offers everything I wanted out of Capcom USA's Street Fighter, if even has planned DC to boot!
...I wonder how much of a debt SFIIHD is going to be...

Don't get me wrong, Blood on the Asphalt: The Super Street Fighter II Turbo remix collection rocks, and rocks hard.
But there's something quite strange, when you listen to all of them. It seems that the artists didn't actually come to a consensus on what "urban" meant when they came together to make this.
I remember reading about the initial idea, "Street Fighter tracks with an 'urban' feel", and if you mean the music genre, "urban", Dhalsim's, Dee Jay's and Vega's are right there, for sure.
But if you mean urban as in "from the city", well some of the tracks fall into that department too. Sagat's stage even has traffic sound effects. Cammy's has the same feel.
It will probably work better in the actual game, with varied settings, versus a playlist with all the tracks together.
ALSO
The Vega theme was used in an old preview video, but the lyrics were removed. I hope there's an option to restore them... the battle with Ingrid is awesome with the vocal background.

@AsWater: On 360 it will because every game allows it, it's a requirement outside of rhythm games. (and even then, they might HAVE to allow it)
As for the PS3 version, I would doubt they'd add the functionality if it's not already a standard in PS3 titles.

Wow. I grabbed some packs from them probably 8-10 years ago and while most tracks weren't worth it IMO, some really shone. (I think they had like 500-1000 songs total?) I bet by now they're just overflowing with talent.
So all sorts of "amateur" artists/remixers get their work featured in a new version of the game they remixed music from - how cool is that?! Congrats to all of you!

There are now 1700+ songs on OCRemix, and I gotta say, while some are shit, a lot of them really shine.
It's not all techno, mind you. For example, check out Dr Wily's Wedding or ProjectX's rendition of the Title Screen of Megaman II. Great stuff.
