And as the sales show, plenty of people already have the GH3 guitar which will work with WT. Thus, if someone wanted to, they could just buy the WT disc and maybe get the other instruments later if they wanted or whatever. This is also true for Rock Band but less people have RB1 than GH3.

I'm likely to end up buying GH IV anyway, but I don't like music exclusives.

But DAMN i'm starting to feel torn about GH and RB, since i preffer GH drumbs (wich most likely have more impact in gameplay than the Rock band ones, since are standard) and the Music creation tool and the inevitable Game covers made by the comunity. However, the amount of content and openness(?) on rockband is outstanding.

I'm suffering right here.

I wanted Hot for Teacher for RB, but GHWT REALLY needs to have a ridiculously stellar track list to beat out the liquid schwartz that is Rock Band 2's.

Plus if the Rock Band gear isn't compatible with GHWT then fuck em anyways. I don't have the space and definitely don't want to spend the money for another set of peripherals. Hopefully Activision's heads aren't shoved that far up their collective asses that they don't do that (which they probably won't and will end my GH streak).

@harlock_JDS: Pretty sure E3 isn't just a one day thing. And Activision recently split from the ESA... but their full setlist will surely be out soon for all to compare it with Rock Band's

@Huckleberry: Indeed. Activision's greed for exclusivity shows a)they have an inferior product and they need to do something b)they are only set on ruining the rhythm game genre. Eventually RB will HAVE to sign exclusives to make sure they have good tracks for their games. And then both side's fans will just tune them both out.

I guess I'm lucky; I have a guitar compatible with both games, Activision would have to be insane not to use standard USB mikes, and I don't play drums. I can play both games.

But even with these exclusivity announcements, if I was forced to pick between the two, I'd have to go RB2. More songs, back compat, RB1 disc ripping, etc. It's just overflowing.

I'm hating this exclusivity crap. If the guitar hero gaemplay wasn't completely messed with in GH3, I wouldn't mind, but since Rock Band is the only game continuing the GH2 guitar experience. I'm pissed.

It seems as though the momentum on here has shifted back to Rock Band. Excellent timing on behalf of EA. After Activision got GH IV and the music composer announced, EA and Harmonix shot back with Rock Band 2, now a complete setlist, backwards compatibility, etc. It'll be interesting to see Activision's reaction.

All this competition can only be good for the genre... Nobody can just sit on their asses and hope the name pushes them through. Exclusivity, on the other hand...

It is settled: I will buy GH:WT package for the better peripherals (and decent library), and just the RB2 game disc for the great library. I feel so great having not been screwed by buying RB1. :D
