Here Are Nintendo E3 Press Conference Speakers
Posted by Brian Ashcraft at 12:15 PM on July 15, 2008
Tomorrow, Nintendo will kick off its E3 press conference. What to expect? Nintendo brass standing on stage, talking about stuff. What stuff? Dunno! What we do know is that Nintendo has confirmed Nintendo Co. Ltd. president Satoru Iwata, Nintendo Senior Managing Director Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America executive vice president for sales and marketing Cammie Dunaway and Nintendo of America vice president of marketing and corporate affairs Denise Kaigler will be on stage this Tuesday morning — not necessarily in that order. Whew, some of those folks have long job titles!

Unless they announce Kid Icarus, then I really don't care. I have lost almost all interest in the Wii. Brawl is the only game I still play on it, and not frequently. I don't like when people say it's just a casual gaming system, but that's becoming more true for me as time goes on.
There are 2 other things that I would be excited about though. A new Zelda would get my attention, but not necessarily instant praise, and Metroid Dread, though it will never happen, would make me shit myself with glee.
Seriously Nintendo: MAKE METROID DREAD!

I'd like to see them do something stunty, like have two stuntmen coe on stage fighting with wiimote handle lightsabers in the middle of reggie's opening talk and then announce that clone wars will use the motionplus perepheral for 1-1 fighting. Brief demo to follow. That'd be nice.

@JimElNino: His accent is fairly strong but he's rather adorable even if he doesn't get to make exciting announcements. It's usually just charts and the overall direction of the company. I enjoy the Iwata Asks interviews/lovefests.
It will be nice to get more familiar with the new folks Kaigler and Dunaway.
And Miyamoto + Trinen are always enjoyable.

the "big announcement" is going to be wii music.
a game in which you flail your controller in time to a metronome, producing rough midis of classical music.
i hate to sound like a buzz kill, though i'm pretty sure it's going to suck!
wii sports and wii fit were "original", i guess, though wii music isn't all that new of an idea.
either way, i'm kind of really excited to see if they're able to pull another one out! if they don't show something spectacular at E3 (and hey, i kinda hope they do) then i'm going to feel very comfortable in writing them off for the rest of this "console generation".

Sorry for the double post, but I think alot of you are expecting way more than what will be shown.
Look at all the E3s since the Wii came out. 2-3 games that are important for the Wii.
I can see a new Wii ____ game for the casual crowd, the new Animal Crossing, Warioland Shake, and maybe one BIG surprise.
Now, the DS is usually much better in terms of surprises, but we'll see.

Yes, because Nintendo is the only online service to allow people to use fake-polygon/pixel versions of themselves.
Websites like Gaia Online, MMOs, etc never have a way of customising a representation of yourself.

I really can't wait. Despite the fact that Microsoft have "avatars" *cough* copy cat *cough* now, I really hope Nintendo would give something that is BIG for the Wii gamers to play this holiday. Kid Iracus, Animal Crossing or maybe even a new Punch Out with Eat Biter? Who knows, only time well tell. I'll be reading the direct feed off of here and watching G4 Broadcast Live Conference.

They either need a kick ass game that shows off the potential of the new SuperMotionDongle (I like that name better) or announce that it's super cheap.
Preferably both.

So, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Icarus and probably at least one game that utilizes the new attachment for the remote.
I think the fact that I know so little about what actually will be announced that I'm more excited for this press conference than any of the others. I don't anticipate I'm going to see any particular deep or "hardcore" minded games. There will likely be one announced, or two, followed by a lot of talk about third parties and a new casual IP. Should be interesting, regardless.

This is an essential one for me. If they have a repeat of last year, brag for the entire time, show some casual games, and then 2 minute clips of a game on the horizon, It's clear to me they don't care about the hardcore crowd.

If Miyamoto is show up, something big will be announced.
After watching the Microsoft press event, with only the Final Fantasy 13 and Gears Of War 2 getting "non-forced-applause", I feel Nintendo and Sony can really outshine Microsoft with any big announcement they can do.
Nintendo: new Titles and showing a demo of that motion plus.
Sony: Home and a price drop (and not crying on stage about the FF13 thing which was massive damage).

I'm actually more interested to see what third party devs have ready. Since launch, Nintendo has pretty much covered their franchises that I care about (Zelda, Mario, Mario Kart and Metroid).
Hopefully Square will show some good stuff. I'd like a new Bushido Blade and a new Act Raiser would be fantastic.

How about Nintendo fucking create new IP's instead o milking their usual stuff. Like Mario. Starfox. Wario. Smash Bros.
Metroid ( oops, my bad todays Nintendo needs a Super Metroid qualtiy Metroid, but today's Nintendo can't pull it off anymore)
Oh, but I can't wait for Animal Crossing - now mainstream-ified! ( as if it were hardcore before. )
Sigh. Nintendo is turning very quickly into a company like Tiger Electronics with their so called 'video game' 'handhelds'.
I expect Miyamoto ot make a ass out of himself trying to hawk some more casual mainstream bullshit.

Well, Nintendo is at least supporting titles such as Fatal Frame and Disaster:Day of Crisis.
All I really want to hear now as far as new game announcements go is for a Star Fox game that goes back to its N64 roots. However, I don't expect we will hear anything about that franchise this year. Well, that and whatever Retro Studios next project will be but it's most likely too early for them to reveal anything about it.
I doubt that Nintendo won't be revealing much in the way of new game announcements at E3 especially when there's still plenty to cover with already announced games such as Disaster:Day of Crisis, Fatal Frame, Wario Land, and Wii Music as perhaps some discussion of what else Nintendo has planned for both Wiiware, Wii channels and the DS. There seems to be a pretty good chance for a new Punch Out! game announcement and Animal Crossing being the big holiday season title for this year.
The new Wario Land game looks amazing.I'm really looking forward to it even though I haven't played the previous Wario Land games before.
After Microsoft's underwhelming E3 presentation (with the FF XII being the only megaton announcement), I will continue to keep my expectations low for both Nintendo and Sony's conferences scheduled for tomorrow.

I don't understand why everyone seems to be expecting a new Punch-out. There was already boxing in Wii Sports. Has there been anything to suggest a Punch-Out game is in the works? I'd say Starfox is a heck of a lot more likely than Punchout, but everyone is convinced of Punch-out.

The thing is that the new ad on wont be for just new games. It will help older games work better. Its more of how we thought the wiimote would work in the first place. Also what would come standard with the next wii. So its not going to ad any thing but help the wiimote feel and work better. With old and new games so you can take it or leave it. Plus i think the price point will be $10 to $15 and will start coming with wiimotes later on down the road.

@Mokka: New Zelda? Oh crap.
I feel this 'dread' that whatever upcoming title for the Wii shown will be cringe-worthy. I would rather look forward to a new *proper* Star Fox or 2D Metroid in development but since 'GameCube-days' all Zelda does now is invoke my cynicism and bad-tempered pessimism; especially when fanboys with no standards to help them differentiate 'garbage from immaculate' try and defend it.
Hopefully Retro Studios will be working on it to breath some much-needed fresh air into the franchise; a first-person perspective game but one that focuses exploration, combat and different environments. If not then I'll just ignore Nintendo's E3 conference.
