"In these crazy days of $100+ collector's editions, that's surprisingly reasonable."

- It puzzles me how quickly people accept things. Not long ago, the average price of a game was $50.00 plus tax. Now the standard is $60-$100. So no, I will never accept that $70.00 is ever reasonable for a game, especially in the current economic state.
And for all of those who like spending more money and want to defend the recent (last 2 years) price hike, have you noticed the price of electronic technology has dropped in almost every category ( T.V., computers, etc.) whereas videogame entertainment has increased?

And don't get me started on the obscene price of current generation hardware and the pointless price-hike of hard-drive space. $100.00 for 40 extra gb on a hard-drive? Bullsh**t. Most companies (except Nintendo) have always taken a loss on hardware but software is where you recoup your loss, but please dont charge me an extra 20 to 40 dollars for a game just because your console cost you 600 dollars.

Pretty cool, and I like the $70 price point. Much more reasonable than other games that charge $80 or more in exchange for random merchandise like t-shirts and figurines. Only problem is, I haven't played the original Gears...

@Hitokiri151: I thought they said they were doubling it? I'm probably wrong though. It made it more intimate but it was over quicker. But, they have said they're changing the chainsaw tactic to make it more avoidable.

While the tactic worked for me particularly well, it cheapened the kill when a press of a button allowed me to set the controller down and get a drink before the animation was done. :P

The only Special Edition I've purchased was the Halo SE and aside from the cool metal case that refuses to hold the CD proper, I only ever bought it 'cause Wal-Mart had no others on launch day (I don't pre-order.).

But this one ... Nah. Who am I kidding? I'll stick with old standard Ugly $60. I don't need the bling and I don't need more booklets that'll end up scattered beneath the couch after my first two days of OCD-esque treatment to ensure their pristine quality. It never lasts. ;)

I remember when RPGs for the SNES cost $80. For those too young, gas cost about $1/gal back then. Also, the minimum wage had just increased to a whopping $4.25 around that time. Complaining about having to pay $70 for a video game right now is dumb considering a) how much they cost to make and b) the fact that your money is decreasing in value every day.

plus the econimy isn't really that bad, look at Europe only the ritch even have TV's in most of the countries, with the exception of England and some of the bigger countries. We Americans think our Economy is in bad shape because we can't drive SUVs all the time, in Africa they have a hard time not starving to death or being killed by some group of people wanting to over through their government. You can tell that our economy isn't bad when you see fat people in our "poor" cities.

I'm such a special editions whore. I always want the SE's, but I don't really know why. I didn't pick up Bad Companys SE though, it didn't have any nifty books or anything cool (5 ingame guns?? wow...). With that being said, I can't wait to preorder the Fallout 3 SE when I get back to school (I live in a different place during the summer so I wouldn't be able to pick it up if I preordered it here). Now thats bonus content you can bank on.

What happaned to great LEs like Bioshock? For 10 bucks you got a massive figurine, a special cover, a soundtrack CD and the extras DVD.

I think most "collectors editions" are garbage. No one uses most of the junk they give you. It just ends up taking space. Unless the CE gives you extras in game I usually stand clear. I loved how this game looks and plan on buying an Xbox for this and Fallout.
