LocoRoco 2 Revealed In New Famitsu
Posted by Michael McWhertor at 11:30 AM on July 10, 2008
That Sony Computer Entertainment is going back to the LocoRoco well for another chance at acclaim and fortune should come as no surprise. The game's director, Tsutomu Kouno, has been chatting it up for ages and even SCEE reps confirmed it for a PSP release this year. Good then, that Sony got around to confirming its existence in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu.
According to details translated by 1UP, LocoRoco 2 looks to stick to the formula of the first pretty closely, with new music, new bosses and the ability to bite more things — that's a bullet point, for sure — topping the list of new features. Following sequel evolution tradition, your Locos can now swim. Amazing how that always seems to take an iteration or two.

So two of my favorite PSP games (LocoRoco and Patapon) had sequels announced today.
Today is a good day.

I don't think there's really a need to. I mean, Locoroco was a fun game, but I got my fill of it with Locoroco. I don't need any more of it.
Actually, this is how I feel about Patapon 2, unless they can fix the flaws with the original.

@TitillatedOcelot: I love your name. I was asking about MGS names and why they're so weird in a post about MGS4, and this just tickles me in a way that if my girlfriend tickled me in that way, I'd say, "Oh!"

On a related note, has anyone downloaded that Loco Roco thing on the PS3? Is it any good?

PLEASE Sony, please let me play this on a PS3. Loco Roco is awesome, but I'm not planning on getting a PSP any time soon.

@Arsenicberyllium: That's pretty much how I felt about Katamari Damacy, but then the sequel wound up dwarfing the original. So I'm staying pretty optimistic about this.

Good. This is what the industry needs, more original games like LocoRoco and Patapon. Yay for new IPs.

LocoRoco Cocorrecho, the PSN one, was okay, but not nearly as awesome as the PSP original. I hope they go back to their roots with this. Tilting the world is so much better than leading a butterfly around and hoping for the best.

I was just thinking yesterday while looking at the Patapon 2 story that I was about finished with Patapon, but I'd take another Loco Roco!
