Penny Arcade (And Others) vs Street Fighter
Posted by Luke Plunkett at 3:30 PM on July 10, 2008
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Capcom's Street Fighter franchise, longtime series collaborators Udon Entertainment are releasing the mother of all (Street Fighter-related) coffee table books: Street Fighter Tribute, a "special volume of original illustrations from artists all around the globe". Above, you can see Gabe from Penny Arcade's contribution. Below? A selection of some of the other illustrations to be included when the book starts shipping next month.

@CancerMan:
Let's be fair, art style wise that is an opinion, not a fact. I like the art style and character art, but the only things I don't care for that much are the facial expressions. I hardly think it looks stupid.

with all this great art it makes you wonder why SF4 looks so stupid.

The always wonderful Brian Lee O'Malley (if you aren't reading Scott Pilgrim you are a fool) gave a preview of his contribution a while back.

@ThatsMrOffDutyNinja: or it could be the shadowlaw effect. Get it... Shadwolaw minus the law part cause it is street fighter-esque..... Alright maybe that was a bad joke I admit it.

@robotleawesome: The site says $80 (plus shipping)... and for what it's worth, that's for the "limited edition hardcover, not available in stores." Luke, you might want to note that the paperback version has an MSRP of $39.99 (according to Amazon, which is offering preorders for $26.39).

Hrrrm, already had a bad experience ordering straight from Udon. Alot of other people are also having problems getting the things they ordered from them, like months later even after the usual comic shops received their Udon stuff. I used to love Udon till they started jerking their fans around.

@hondo: You have to keep your eyes peeled for the invite. My brother heard it from his illustrator buddy and checked the Capcom/Udon site (I forget which, it was months ago) for details.
