Why so much hate? It kept me interested and it showed what might be a fun over the top game. A Borat ball hugger, a hot dog suit, a guy thrown into a jet engine, and what might have been a ninja suit all make it pretty entertaining and when combined with a real world/porn world tease, well it worked on multiple levels. Heck, in a sense she is a modern day E3 booth babe... albeit a randy one.

Doesn't matter that they can google hardcore shots, nude shots, or even dirty SA web comics, you'll get a bunch of posts at enthusiast sites/boards/blogs/whereever saying "OMG HOTTT." Your game could be "shit on a stick 3: the revenge" and the addition of a set of tits anywhere will help it sell.

I like Tera a lot, so I'm definitely not disappointed with this development. The game looks solid, too, which is a plus. It'll offer the customization GTA IV was lacking, as well as a (hopefully) humorous story and ridiculous action.

The problem with SR was that it was a really solid game, but it only existed to tide us over until the next GTA. The great thing about SR 2 is that while it'll no doubt be very similar to GTA, it'll be a totally different type of gameplay experience. Think what Madden is to Blitz.

Its hard to say that the industry as a whole is breaking ground and expanding past the cliche' of games being solely for teenage boys when this type of marketing is the 'norm' and not the exception. I have the same problem when Ubisoft parades Jade whatsherface around not because she's a good producer but because she's moderately attractive. I somehow doubt they'd take the same approach if she had the same bodymass as Gabe Newell from Valve.

I also have the same problem with booth babes, beer advertisments, cheerleaders and garbage like that. Modern E3 to me is actually less bullcrap than it was when they allowed all the kids and boothbabes and laserlightshow crap.

Maybe I'm cranky and mentally 50 years older than my physical age. Or maybe I'd rather see games marketed on their merits instead of a set of tits.

Saying they shouldn't use pornstars to push their product is completely different from, say, suggesting that the Mass Effect sex scene should have been cut out. The latter is worked into the plot and is handled maturely. The former is just tits for the sake of tits, and like it or not will cause the rest of the "industry" to suffer in terms of perception.

Look at TV. Even Arby's is in on the "sex sells" secret. Look at posters, how many ads do you see with a hot girl on them?
Look at any magazine. How many ads have an erotic tone?
Look at the radio. They don't pick that girl with a low, whisper-y voice for nothing.
Billboards, internet ads, the list keeps going.

If you have a vendetta against this kind of advertisements, then you have bigger fish to fry than a satirical video for a game that's trying to be as over-the-top crazy as possible.

Seriously, though. It's pretty obvious that this game won't sell on merit alone. The first one wasn't a huge blockbuster, so they won't sell on the game's name alone. Plus, it's in the wake of GTA4.

Does that mean it's a bad game? Not by itself, no. It just means they don't have the advertisement budget of Halo, or the renown of a company like Rockstar.

And of course, this is just a "developer commentary". It's not what they're trying to advertise their game with. To say they're entire advertising campaing (look at previous comments, that seems to be the general target) is based on using Tera Patrick is kind of jumping the gun, imo.

Seeing as this developer blog widget isn't something you could readily come across on the internet if you weren't already interested in this game or games like it, you can't really say they're trying to push her to sell copies.

She's not even that good looking, so it's mostly for the people who know her by appearance or idiots who think some chick will strip from them throughout the game.

Honestly, this game already looks much more fun than GTA4, but it'll never sell as much just because GTA is a household name. But Volition is doing something that GTA4 never did right, character customization. A sandbox game has a big misstep when the person you play as is stagnant, the way I see it.

Nothing against Tera Patrick (or any adult entertainers, for that matter.), but the cynic of me has me thinking that the game NEEDED a gimmick.

Why?

Because at this stage of the game, to get someone other than the original staff or, more importantly, THE GAME ITSELF to all of a sudden raise some pandering and titilation to the game has me thinking that the game is lacking somewhere in the fun department.

Not saying that it is the case, but to me, it makes me think that the company is trying to talk itself up about how big this game really is, and in reality, it must just be entertainment of flaccid proportions.

Play for a couple minutes and move on, perhaps?

Then again, I think her best "career" moments were when she WAS natural and worked with Digital Playground. After she left them and started her own studio, she started looking more and more like the plastified sluts that make up Vivid and Club Jenna.

Saints row is the biggest wigger game series of all time anyway. There are few games out there that come off as painfully, tragically white as that series. It's like the Cool as ice of video games.
