@otakuman5000: What killed sega was it's gross marketing incompetence and generally idiot decisions. Sony happened to add fuels to that fire but really Sega killed the dream cast no one else. They fucked their potential customers with the 32x and sega CD and some people never forgave them. I knew a dozen former sega fanboys who jumped ship after the 32x and never even glanced at the dreamcast. Retailers wanted that to die too as Sega has a really stupid distribution model which required any retailer to take a loss on the machines to be able to sell the games.

The iPhone has a very powerful 600MHz+ ARM CPU, but it doesn't have anywhere near the same level of power for its graphics chip compared to the Dreamcast. I'd say the iPhone is more like an N64 in terms of graphics capability.

Um, maybe SEGA should take a look at Monkey Ball's reviews on iTunes...tons of 1 and 2 star ratings(out of 5) due to way too sensitive controls. I want to love the game but without sensitivity settings its way too hard to control. Get on it, SEGA!

However, I would not disagree the iPhone is up there with the Dreamcast...the textures in Monkey Ball are extremely high res...can't see any pixels anywhere.

Do you remember how much marketing for consoles existed at the beginning of that generation? Sega would have never made a new flavor of Mountain Dew, nor Sony nor Nintendo would have ever put an ad on the Eye in London. How ever much you want it, it will never happen. Not unless someone big (Microsoft big) buys Sega first, then funds them extremely well. With Sega's continued losses since the fall of Dreamcast, it will never happen.

Sega should team up with MS to bring Dreamcast Originals to 360, they aren't even big. Most demos are the size of original dreamcast games, so it shouldnt be too much of a size issue. I think dreamcast should become an online console via XBLA, and have major releases like they did on disc, except you would know what you were getting.

It annoys me how the popular i-phone gets attention as being a "powerful" phone by sega, but come on...there are lots of phones that are as powerful as years old systems. Heck, I have a BlackJack II smartphone and have a NES, SNES, and Gameboy Advanced emulator on it. That means it has to emulate the hardware, plus display it on your screen. Oh, and I can also get final fantasy 7 to run on it with a PS1 emulator. So I'm all for making better games for phones, but not for just focusing on the i-phone because it's the talk of the town now. Plus, with other phones you don't need to jump through hoops or crack anything to install non-apple certified programs on it...

No one's mentioned Dreamcast classic Jet Set Radio, which I think might be a perfect match for the iPhone. The cell-shaded graphics (revolutionary at the time) would probably look very sharp on the little screen, and I bet it would adapt well to tilt controls.

I have the new iphone and even though monkey ball is hard to control i see tons of potential for the iphone. graphics on monkey ball look like the wii version. crash nitro looks like a psp game so there is tons of potential here, not to mention 50 million will have a ipod touch of iphone eventually.
