Street Fighter IV Panel Hints At Console Cammy Return

If you missed out on our liveblog of Yoshinori Ono's "The Making of Street Fighter IV" panel at Comic-Con — at which very little actual "making of" was discussed, you might not have caught wind of the multiple Cammy mentions made during the presentation. Seth Killian from Capcom mentioned about halfway through the panel that the petite British street fighter had won the popular vote for characters that would appear in the console versions of Street Fighter IV. That's probably a good sign.
Additionally, a brand new animated sequence shown at the conclusion of the panel showed off various Street Fighter mainstays, including considerable screen time for Cammy. The few-minute animation focused on her disbelief that the Shadaloo organisation and M. Bison himself were dead.
While still not confirmed, it's looking very likely that Cammy will be one of the "New Challengers" to debut in the console versions, now under development at Capcom.

This' very good news. Capcom's been neglecting Cammy for far too long. It's great to know she'll be staging a comeback.

Dudley won the first character poll. So hopefully he'll be in the console port too, and apparently it looks like Ryu and Ken's master, Gouken (Please don't call him Sheng Long Capcom!) is going to be in the game.
Also Dan and Fie Long have already been officially announced.

Well, if SFIV is meant to take place after SFII but before SFIII, then it would make sense that she is wearing her Delta Red outfit.
That's the outfit most fans seem to like anyway. Her Shadaloo outfit is for her Bison days. SFIV would have to be the post-Bison Cammy. Unless of course, she decides to team up with/is coerced by Bison.

@Annex1: wow, come on mayne, cammy is fun to play with from a move and combo perspective. If it was even remotely about her looks not many people would want her in the game. Its because of all above(yes looks and personality along with her moves) that made Cammy this popular.

I always liked Cammy from an aesthetic point of view. I found her cute. Her back story (as Wikipedia tells me) is oddly disappointing. That said I'm still glad she'll be in the new one.

The only reason anyone even mentions Cammy is because of the suit she wears. She was a useless character and I imagine she will continue to be in the future.

They already have the entire cast of Street Fighter 2 in the game, why not include the all the people from Super SF2, and give us some... I don't know... new characters that are worth caring about?

Well, I'm a bit disappointed that Sakura didn't win the vote. Although I'm still holding out hope for her to be another of the new challengers. Still, I love Cammy just as much.

Honestly I would prefer having all the characters on that poll in the game. I loved Alpha 3 because it had so many characters. Having more characters to play as does nothing but add more value to the game in the end. Only in very rare cases does adding too many characters hurt a game. I would like to see a Alpha 4 that has all the characters to ever to have appeared in the Street fighter games compiled into one game.

I glad that she's coming back. Hopefully, they announce Sakura, Karin(fat chance, I know, but I still hopping), and Ibuki are going to be in there as well. Actually wouldnt mind a SFIV Guy in there 2.
And seriously Capcom, just say that Akuma's going to be in it too already, we know he's a shoe-in

wow--you can see that the Nintendo's presser really scarred me. When i first saw the name 'Cammy' i immediately thought 'OH MY GOD NINTENDOS' CAMMY IS GOING TO DO A PRESSER FOR SF4!?!?' then about a millisecond later...'oh....cammy...from sf..' *takes deep breath, exhales*

Why the hell do we have to vote? if we can get characters we never asked for(Rufus) why not just bring them all back?
I wanted Fei Long, dammit. well, that's one less copy sold.
And the only people that want her back are the ones who want to see her naked... you know... the pedophiles... at least she was a woman in the movie...

Not going to affect my decision to purchase this...but I was really hoping we'd get Hugo, but I suppose there's always the hope of DLC and/or Super/Turbo/Remix/2nd Impact sequels with tweaks and new characters.

I'm curious to see what they'll do for the console version of this game. I'm just not sure a fighter really has the appeal of other more involved game types. Will there be story and such?
