@Insane: That's whats gotten me interested in it. I mean gamers won't be limited in the type of genre they can pick to sing-along to. So, those Norwegian Black Metal fans won't have to feel left out. They can now sing-along to Burzum, Gorgoroth and/or Dimmu Borgir to their heart's content.

stand alone karaoke games might not fare well against combination games like rockband and guitar hero(new one is said to have a mic?). i'm sure just singing will appeal to some groups but others might want to change it up once in a while and try an instrument. i'm sure someday they'll have a music game with peripherals for most instruments. i still wonder why they don't just make it so that you can use real instruments connected to the console to play games with. i think that would be a great feature.

this has been something i've been really waiting too see in a game

though im not a fan of the singing games (they're cheesy and girlish!)

but this one sure has my money not only because of the inovation

but imagine putting my own favorite rock/jazz/metal soundtracks in ! (ermm can it recognise the lyrics of death metal tracks as well ?! :P )

but yeah over all, it really was a good show from MS, comparing the really disapointting and boring show of last year's E3 !

And you can't tell me it's not great music because there's so much interest in these rhythm games and that just says so much about the music industry because they can extrapolate their master recordings into ever domain of entertainment for consumers.

It's a win-win for us consumers y'know because now instead of hearing the same tracks on Restaurant Background Music Mixes and "Today's best new music" radio stations we can find new ways to listen to the same old tracks and never know we're listening to the same old tracks!

@Adisah: I don't know about that. Sometimes singing to no one is quite therapeutic, or crazy depending on one's point of view. I prefer the former though at times I think the latter makes better sense.

You won't be able to play any song; You'll probably be able to play a certain format thats sold on XBL thats compatible with Zune. It didn't announce that you could use MP3's. Because you have to account for the notes, lyrics, and video playback.
