The Sims 3 E3 Trailer
Posted by Luke Plunkett at 8:40 PM on July 15, 2008
Freshy pried from the game's homepage, here's the first trailer for Maxis' upcoming top-seller-for-five-years sure thing, The Sims 3. And yes, it looks better, and the promise of a whole town is certainly a pleasant one, but every time they start to lure me in with those kind of deals, I hear one of them open their mouth, and all bets are off.

Looks like it could be cool, hopefully they actually add things in that hold your attention for awhile.

People, this game solves the most horrible thing about Sims 2: Time only passed for one family at a time, and if you travel somewhere with them time stops. That was bizarre. That's a freakin' big improvment!
Also, I would not want a real language until they can make it sound good and not scripted/repetitive, which is not very soon. Plus I think you'd start recognizing the different voices easier, it'd be like a movie dubbed by like four people who only knew a few phrases. Yeesh.

It all looks very nice, but I'm afraid if I buy it I'll be compelled to buy the addons.

- I'm watching him watching his sim watch TV
- It was like some, some fucked up Escher painting. There were layers of meaning there I couldn't begin to interpret.

Anyway, my sis loves the sims, hopefully she can run this on her laptop. Sims 2 has a weird problem installing for some reason, though.

I like the fact that they don't really talk. What i don't like is the fact that after a couple of hours playing the Sims (without chating) feels too much like living my boring life

I wonder if the characters can walk past each other through doorways.
Or when they cant get through one door so they take the "scenic" route round to the doorway a mile away.
Or spend 2 hours doing a dump when dinner takes an hour.
Or stutter badly when you load a new area and all the characters load in...
The sims 2 didnt learn from the sims 1 and there was a hundred an one minor flaws that annoyed after a time.
Dont hold your breath sims fans, will take 2 updates to include the things you would of expected to be included.

don't see much improvement since sims 2
and all the games that present themselves has "game that needs expansion packs to reach it's full potential" i don't fall for that

I'd hope they'll have some form of multiplayer.. that'd be nice. The Sims Online died, so give Sims fans some way to play with friends, imo.
I can't get back into the Sims... The first was Great. Sims 2 was fun, but yeah.. It's just more of the same. They'll have to innovate more than throwing a town at us.

You know the industry is mundane when there are games that simulate mundanity.
And not only does it simulate it, it celebrates it.

Grau es frettesche!
/It probably IS a U2 track in the background. A number of artists have licensed their music to Sims, with a large number of those actually re-recording their lyrics in Simlish.

They had a ceiling fan in the Sims 2 that never made it. The Sims would grab one of the blades and fly around. Where's the ceiling fan, Maxis?

I've been playing TS1 and TS2 and their expansions since release, but I think I'm going to pass on TS3 from what I've seen so far. It sounds like they're dumbing down the gameplay a la SimCity Societies - I want a challenge! It's far too easy to achieve any goal one could have in TS2. Half of the stuff they show in the videos probably won't make it in the final game anyway.
I still haven't forgotten how horribly, horribly broken TS2 was when it shipped (the infamous "jump bug" being the worst offender) and how EA initially blamed it on the players for playing the game wrong when it was an obvious design flaw. You couldn't play the game for more than a week or two without having to start over from scratch. The game was (and still is to a great extent) unplayable without third party mods and hacks.

Oh look, it's The Sims 2 with updated graphics. Not forgetting of course they're release it with over half of what they've already added to Sims 2 cut out and then re-add it all again in ten expansions.
Pass.

Maxis isn't developing the Sims. It's being done by the Sim's business unit, which has a lot of former Maxis peeps in it. In some ways, its actually distinct from both Maxis and EA (i.e. culturally).

I've been a Sim head since Sim town. I think I'll get this one too when I get myself a new computer. I always hated to hop from house to house to "bring-up" the time-line. I'm not expecting to much for when this first come out. I've learned my lesson when Sims 2 was delayed a bunch of times and some of the stuff wasn't included.

However, I seriously need a computer overhaul.

it comes down to this did you like the sims 2? If yes, would you like your Sims to walk to another person's house? I'm excited for this game, and I'll probably like it. If you didn't like the sims 2 then you wont like this game.

The improvements seems to be "Outdoors" right? So I am expecting seamless transition(no loading) and interactive outdoor environments (ones you don't need a taxi to get to) like hiking in the wilderness with diverse wildlife (ya right..) and maybe events like concerts (online) between Sims from different people.
